The financial support is being provided to military veterans who face huge levels of debt.

Research shows that debt is disproportionately higher for ex-military servicemen as oppose to ordinary citizens.

Verizon are now pushing out the multimillion-dollar sum as part of its debt relief fund for 2026.

The partnership with ForgiveCo has already wiped out $8.8million in medical debt for 6,000 veterans in the Great Lakes market.

The incredible initiative launched in 2024, and has provided more than $800 to each eligible citizen on average.

Verizon has also aligned with prominent sports franchises, including the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Blues, and Team Penske, to promote awareness.

The firm hopes to make sure its debt relief initiative is widely known about so it can extend its impact within local communities.

As part of the groundbreaking commitment, Verizon recently announced a new alliance with the Columbus Crew.

Through this bond, Verizon will provide an initial $500,000 in debt relief – as well as an additional $100,000 for every win or draw for the remainder of the 2025 season.

This amount will, however, cap at another $500,000.

President of Verizon, Great Lakes, Andy Brady said: “When a veteran sees $3,000 in medical debt disappear because of our work with the support of their favorite team – that’s not just relief, its restoration.”

“These aren’t numbers on a ledger.

“They’re our neighbors, our colleagues, our community.

“And they deserve more than gratitude – they deserve action.”

President of ForgiveCo Erik Antico said: “Verizon’s $22 million commitment sends a powerful message to our veterans: that their service, sacrifice, and legacy will always be honored.

“When companies lead with purpose and connect that purpose to the cultural and community impact of sports, the results are both transformative and lasting.”

Verizon has been recognised as a Military Friendly company for seven years running.

It also employs thousands of veterans nationwide.

The firm’s commitment to the military community extends beyond debt relief.

It includes working directly with the Department of Veterans Affairs – to supply VA medical centres with critical communication.

And it also encompasses offering specialised resources for small businesses owned by veterans.

Veterans impacted by these relief efforts will be contacted directly by ForgiveCo.

Those eligible do not need to apply or sign up.

Verizon also offers special discounts for veterans and active military members on mobile and home internet plans.
