It was an amazing comeback for the pregnant star who previously tried to make it big on AGT when she was just 11 years old.
Jessica competed in AGT’s first season in 2006 and even made it to the semi-finals before being eliminated.
She almost didn’t make it to the stage on Tuesday because she was feeling very unwell and AGT judge, Simon Cowell, praised her for pushing through.
“Well, I am absolutely blown away,” he said after her performance. adding, “because a few seconds ago, before Jessica came out, I heard that she wasn’t feeling too good. And I said, ‘Look, honestly, genuinely, it’s your choice whether you want to do this or not’.”
“Not only that, you have this amazing, I call it a glow, a glow about you,” Simon continued.
“People are going to really like you. I really believe [they will] root for you, and I’m so happy, after all these years, on our 20th anniversary, you’ve come back. Thank you so much.”
Sofia awarded Jessica the coveted Golden Buzzer last month and praised her for performing while heavily pregnant.
“That was amazing,” Vergara said.
“I know that you have felt that you’ve been struggling because of the belly and the breathing and your voice doesn’t feel the same, but that was spectacular.”
In the video package before the performance, Jessica explained that getting eliminated from the semi-finals gave her a drive to succeed as a singer.
She also explained her desire to sing on AGT during her pregnancy.
“I’ve packed multiple bags just in case I have my baby early,” she said.
“It may be a lot of moving parts, but it’s even more special because I’ve got my baby girl with me.”
Following her first defeat on AGT later Jessica competed on American Idol in 2012 and performed so well that she made it to the finals and came runner-up.
She then signed with Interscope records and released her debut album, Me, You & the Music which hit a high of 26 on the Billboard 200 album charts.
Jessica is married to lighting technician, Rickie Gallardo, and they are expecting their first child together in the coming weeks.
