Andy Reid to make shock Kansas City Chiefs position change move for star player in major switch to offensive plans

ANDY Reid could make a role change for a star player on the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense.

The Chiefs may ask a star wide receiver to make a switch to a different position as the 2025 NFL season approaches.

Kansas City is coming off a stellar 15-2 campaign, which saw them lose Super Bowl 59 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

They’ll hope to make it back to the big game and win it for the third time in four seasons.

In order to do that, the Chiefs will have to make improvements to the team.

And second-year wideout Xavier Worthy could be asked to be the team’s primary punt returner.

Worthy is known as one of the NFL’s fastest players, as he broke the 40-yard dash record at last year’s Scouting Combine.

Kansas City could try to take advantage of Worthy’s speed in the special teams role, which would help Patrick Mahomes and company get in a good position before they call their first offensive play.

“Punt return, I’ll do anything the team needs me to do, however they need me to do it,” Worthy told reporters of the possible new position.

The Chiefs’ latest depth chart has wide receiver Nikko Remigo as the team’s punt returner.

But those decisions aren’t set in stone.

Worthy didn’t have any punt returns during his rookie campaign in 2024.

He was the Chiefs’ No. 1 wide receiver after Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending injury last October.

Worthy posted 59 receptions for 638 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Reid is known for using his star wide receivers as punt returners.

In the past, he has tasked stars Tyreek Hill and DeSean Jackson with punt returner roles.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Worthy given the job.

The Chiefs could experiment with Worthy during the team’s first preseason game on August 9 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Other punt returner candidates include running back Carson Steele and wide receiver Skyy Moore.
