At least 1 hiker killed & 3 injured in horror rock slide at Banff National Park in Canada

AT least one hiker has died and three others injured in a horror rock slide at Banff National Park in Canada.

Rescuers scrambled to the park in the afternoon on Thursday after receiving reports that a group had been struck by the deadly rock slide.

Bow Glacier Falls is located near Banff, in Alberta. The falls originates from melt water from the Bow Glacier and flows into Bow Lake.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Parks Canada later confirmed one hiker tragically died and three were injured near Bow Glacier Falls.

The beauty spot is north of Lake Louise on the Icefields Parkway, about 124 miles northwest of Calgary.

It is also roughly 85 miles from the site of the G7 summit held in Kananaskis, Alberta, this week.

STARS Air Ambulance spokeswoman Kate Langille earlier said two of its units were deployed around 2pm local time.

Parks Canada has urged tourists to avoid the area.

The Bow Glacier Falls hiking trail is 6-mile route running along the edges of Bow Lake.

It’s considered a moderate challenge for hikers and day-trippers include families.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said she was deeply saddened.

“We are thinking of all those involved and wishing for their safety as we await further details,” she said in a post on social media.
