SINCE Sky’s Soccer AM left our screens two years ago, its celebrity penalty shootout has been much missed.

But I can reveal the fan-favourite format has now inspired a copycat segment from Graham Norton‘s So Television.

Just like Sky’s original version, the new series will see a line-up of big names stepping up to the penalty spot to try to score.

But with comedian Chloe Petts in charge of proceedings, it will feature fellow comics only.

So far stars including Nish Kumar and Harriet Kemsley are on the team sheet.

A source said: “Penalties frequently provide some of the funniest moments in football, so adding comedians to that mix will bring about endless laughs.

“Soccer AM had big names like Stormzy, Ed Westwick and Louis Tomlinson desperate to be involved so everyone is very excited that this new spin-off could run and run.

“Chloe Petts is a genuine football fan and brings a wealth of knowledge, as well as humour. Filming begins this week in London and everyone can’t wait to see how it turns out.”

In an increasingly common move, the series is first heading to YouTube.

The source added: “This kind of content lends itself brilliantly to a short-form media and so will live online for now.”

Soccer AM ran for 29 years on Sky until it was shelved in May 2023 due to falling ratings.

As well as the penalty spot, other segments included the Nutmeg Files, Unbelievable Tekkers and the Crossbar Challenge.

Plenty of comedic inspiration there too, I’d say.

OASIS’ long-awaited reunion tour kicks off in just two and a half weeks, but don’t expect to hear reconciled brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher giving their first chat on Radio 2.

The station’s breakfast show host Scott Mills revealed he had a falling out with Liam in the late Nineties, when he felt the full force of the singer’s acid tongue backstage at Top Of The Pops.

In his memoir, Love You Bye, Scott recalled: “I’d met them before and chatted to them briefly, so I thought that might be a bit of an in.

“They were absolutely huge at the time and renowned for being outspoken. Their radio plugger took me over to Liam and said, ‘You remember Scott, don’t you? You’ve met him before’. Liam looked me up and down and went, ‘Yeah, he’s a c***’.”

Reflecting on it now, Scott hopes Liam’s behaviour was just a sign of the times, when almost all stars were a nightmare to deal with.

In an exclusive chat, he said: “The Liam Gallagher thing really floored me at the time, because I think it was, like, my second week at Top Of The Pops. “I think he’s completely changed. I actually think I am completely changed, but I think he’s probably a nicer man now.

“In the Nineties, it was the thing to be mean. All pop stars now are pretty nice. When I joined Radio 1 in ’98, a lot were horrible because that was the thing to do. It doesn’t happen any more.

“I can’t remember the last time I had an interview that was horrible, or that was hard work. Back then, I used to go down to Top Of The Pops and do the interviews every Thursday. Often, I would be like, ‘That was really hard work’, or, ‘I didn’t enjoy that because they were awkward or difficult, or just a bit unpleasant’.”

But I suspect that Edinburgh Council bosses will be seeing more of Liam’s unpleasant side if his messages on X yesterday are anything to go by.

It came after The Sun On Sunday revealed that local authority officials had branded Oasis fans “drunk”, “lairy”, “fat” and “old” in secret safety briefings ahead of their three sell-out Murrayfield megagigs in August.

Liam said: “To the Edinburgh council I’ve heard what you said about Oasis fans and quite frankly your attitude fing stinks. I’d leave town that day if I was any of you lot.”

I couldn’t have put it better myself.

MARIAH REVERTS TO TYPE

THIRTY-FIVE years since hitting the charts with her debut album, Mariah Carey will pay homage to favourite songs from her back catalogue on her new record, the first since 2018’s Caution.

Mariah dropped the first single, Type Dangerous, from the album earlier this month, but I’ve learned she is already lining up a remix.

The savage track sees Mimi sing: “I came in the door, dripped in Balenci’. Cropped leather coat and some nine inch Fendis.

“The crowd opened up and I started to strut. I need my space, but I’m signing autographs and such.”

My insider added: “If you thought the original version was fire, you’ve not heard anything yet.

“Mariah has secretly recorded a remix version with a top rapper which is coming out very soon.

“She’s keen to make sure this new era is a success and is really proud of the music she’s created.”

When discussing what was to come in the future, Mrs Brown’s Boys’ Brendan O’Carroll and Not Going Out’s Lee Mack admitted they have very different ideas of how they would wrap things up.

Brendan revealed: “I’d have the audience peeing themselves with laughter for 25 minutes and then crying their eyes out for the final five.”

But Lee Mack, who co-writes and stars in his series alongside Sally Bretton and Hugh Dennis, responded: “I’d do it the other way around!”

POLICE have re-issued an appeal for information amid a desperate hunt for a teen girl reported missing a week ago.

Serren Bennett, 18, was last seen on June 8 in Guisborough with police becoming increasingly concerned for her safety.

The video is the last known sighting of the teen who has now been missing for a week.

The 18-year-old was spotted by a CCTV camera heading to the De Brus Way area at around 7pm on June 8.

Serren is described as 5’6” tall with brown hair and brown eyes, she was last seen wearing a brown coat with fur on the hood, a black skirt, black tights and black shoes.

Cops believe she headed towards the Redcar beach area, near to Majuba car park/South Gare.

Cops have become more and more concerned for her welfare as the frantic hunt for the “vulnerable” teen reaches the seven day mark.

The youth’s disappearance was described as “out of character” for her.

The police have re-issued an appeal for information that could help locate her, asking members of the public who may have seen Serren to come forward.

Specialist officers have been drafted in to comb areas that the teen is known to frequent.

Any members of the public who may have seen Serren have been asked to urgently contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting ref 105161.

Superintendent Emily Harrison said: “A week has now passed since the last confirmed sighting of Serren, and as time goes on we become increasingly concerned for her welfare, particularly given that she is vulnerable and this is out of character for her.

“Search-trained officers have been in areas where Serren was last seen and where she frequents, as we do everything possible to find her as safely and quickly as we possibly can.

“I would continue to ask members of the public to share the appeals to help us generate information and any sightings of Serren, and anyone who may have information is asked to contact us on 101 as a matter of urgency.”

He was out in New York on Saturday night with girlfriend Ines de Ramon, 29 years his junior, in an oversized blue velvet blazer with a pinstripe shirt and high-waist jeans.

Earlier he was seen in cream and green cargo trousers before changing into a yellow tie-dye top and trousers to film a TV chat show.

On Friday, he wore an oversized blue silk shirt and ripped velvet black trousers for a double date with Ines, fellow actor Bradley Cooper and his supermodel girlfriend Gigi Hadid.

Fans of the superstar — whose new film F1 is out this month — questioned his wardrobe decisions.

One asked: “Need to know wtf is going on with Brad Pitt’s wardrobe currently. Why is he wearing all that?”

Another replied bluntly: “Midlife crisis I fear.”

As the photographs spread on social media, another commented: “Need a decent stylist to help him choose clothes. Just because it’s in so-called fashion doesn’t mean it’s nice.”

However Brad has previously indicated he has little interest in wearing what is fashionable.

He said: “If I have a style, it’s ‘no style’. It’s led by comfort.

“It’s too exhausting to follow trends. And I despise billboards; I just don’t want to be billboard.”

Brad, who has six children with his ex Angelina Jolie, added: “You get older, you get crankier, and comfort becomes more important.

“I think it’s as simple as that.”

MLB LEGEND Clayton Kershaw has stirred controversy – by adding a religious message to his team’s Pride-themed cap.

The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher is a devout Christian.

And he’s been unhappy in the past with his baseball franchise supporting the  LGBTQ+ community.

Now he’s taken that a step further – at a match in which he wasn’t even playing.

Kershaw, 37, watched on as the Dodgers hosted the San Francisco Giants.

The LA team wore baseball caps that mixed Pride flag colors with the Dodgers logo.

Kershaw’s altered version of the hat still had the bright new “LA” logo.

But next to that, the 10-time All-Star had inscribed: “Gen 9:12-16.” 

That’s a passage in the Bible that describes the rainbow as a sign of God’s covenant – an agreement between man and God.

And using the rainbow as a Pride symbol is opposed by some groups.

The Bible extract about the rainbow comes after the story of Noah’s Ark.

It tells of a covenant from God to never destroy the earth with a flood again.

The Dodgers upset a radical section of the Christian community two years ago by hosting the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at their annual Pride Night.

The group regularly dress in drag and often wear nun habits.

And with Kershaw reportedly unhappy over that event, the Dodgers shifted their Christian Faith and Family Day to an earlier date.

But some baseball fans reckon the new controversy is a fuss over nothing.

One said: “The rainbow can have multiple meanings. Why can’t the rainbow mean both?”

Others were “disappointed” with Kershaw and urged him to “stick with sports”.

But a third group praised him as a “class act” for his subtle protest – saying it was “righteous comeback” and he was “sharing biblical truths”.

And a few other religious followers believe he should have gone further – by not wearing the cap at all.
