ANDY REID has announced that Deon Bush will miss the entire upcoming season following a tear of his left Achilles tendon against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Kansas City Chiefs safety suffered the injury while attempting to accelerate away during their 20-17 loss to the Cards on Saturday.

It is a killer blow for the 31-year-old, who was looking to secure a spot on the roster for a fourth year in a row.

Reid said: “Bush is an Achilles. He has got to have surgery on it.

“He will get double checked here but I think we’re looking at surgery there.

“It’s too bad because he’s really been playing well, great kid too.”

Bush went down under no contact in the middle of the play, and appeared distraught as he was carted off the field.

He was consoled by Reid and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but still covered his head with a towel while being taken for medical evaluation.

Now Andy Reid has confirmed it is an Achilles injury that will require season ending surgery[/caption]

The nine-year NFL veteran has won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs since joining ahead of the 2023 season.

His interception on Lamar Jackson in 2024 helped his team win the AFC Championship and secured the path to his second straight Super Bowl victory.

The injury piled on the misery for the Chiefs, who suffered a loss in the game following Bush’s removal, their first preseason outing of the year.

Andy Reid tried to remain optimistic following the result, and began his press conference by highlighting the positives of the performance.

Reid told the media: “There were some good things, even though it didn’t come off that way.

“The one’s I thought played well when they were in, they were sharp.

“After that, we were too sloppy, too many penalties.”

The Chiefs leapt into an early lead in the contest, stripping the ball from the kick returner before taking it back for a Jason Brownlee touchdown just two plays later from a Patrick Mahomes pass.

A Cardinals field goal was just a blip on the Chief’s way to a second touchdown courtesy of rush from backup quarterback Gardner Minshew II.

But it all went wrong as penalties mounted and the Cardinals struck back with two unanswered touchdowns before half time.

The teams held each other to a field goal a-piece in the second half, handing an uninspiring loss to the Kansas City faithful.

Reid added: “We were going backwards when we shouldn’t be offensively, and going forward with the penalties we had defensively.

“We have got to take care of that.”

Reid’s men have preseason outings against the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears to iron out that sloppiness ahead of their season opener at the Chargers next month.

A NEW law on sugary drinks is set to drastically change SNAP benefits in one US state – and many warn of the financial burden it will bring.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program supports roughly 147,000 West Virginian households, and this change will affect every last one of them.

In West Virginia, plans have been announced to prohibit SNAP benefits from being spent on soda drinks.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved the plans that will come into effect at the beginning of 2026 for two years.

Five other states are also joining West Virginia, namely Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

The change comes as part of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s push to make America healthier.

He said: “For years, SNAP has used taxpayer dollars to fund soda and candy — products that fuel America’s diabetes and chronic disease epidemics.

“These waivers help put real food back at the center of the program and empower states to lead the charge in protecting public health.

“I thank these governors who have stepped up to request waivers, and I encourage others to follow their lead.

“This is how we Make America Healthy Again.”

In the new law, the state defines soda drinks as “any carbonated non-alcoholic beverage that contains water, a sweetening agent, flavoring, and carbon dioxide gas to create carbonation.”

West Virginia is required to review the new law quarterly in the first year of its implementation.

STRONG CRITICISM

Several organizations have come out opposing the new law, however.

Traci Nelson, president of the West Virginia Oil Marketers and Grocers Association, believes it will do irreparable harm to businesses in the state.

She said: “The new requirements do place a significant financial burden on our members, because now they’re going to have to change their point-of-sale systems, and that can be anywhere from $1,000 to several thousand.

“These little retailers are already running on really narrow margins as it is. So it can put quite a burden on them.

“I will tell you that that is probably going to be a really big problem for retailers on the borders.

“Because if they cross the border to purchase one thing, they’re going to purchase other things, right?

“They’re still gonna purchase those items one way or another.

“And so if they’re on a border and they cross over into Ohio or Pennsylvania or wherever, they’re going to buy other items as well.

“So our retailers are not only going to be losing the sales for the soft drinks and things, they’re probably going to be losing sales for the other grocery items as well.”

 The organization Americans for Food and Beverage Choice also disagreed with the ruling.

The group commented: “Restricting what one segment of the population can buy at the grocery store just because they need temporary government assistance goes against American values.

“These proposals treat families and veterans as second-class citizens.

“In times like these, families don’t need one more person telling them what they can and cannot do.

“But more restrictions would put us on a slippery slope where bureaucrats get to annually decide which foods and beverages some Americans are allowed to serve their families.”

POLICY SUPPORT

Gov. Patrick Morrisey supported the initiative, claiming that it gives citizens in West Virginia “the power to change”.

He said: “I believe in telling the truth to the American people about where we are, because that’s going to make the rise all the more better when West Virginia is able to reach her potential and to get healthy again.

“The good news today is that we all have the power to change.”

Morrisey also pointed out that West Virginia is very healthy compared to other states.

West Virginia ranks at the bottom for many health indicators, including obesity and diabetes, according to Morrisey.

VLADIMIR Putin will jet to Alaska for a historic summit with President Trump on Friday to seek an end to the war – but he does so as a wanted criminal.

Putin would in theory be nabbed if he were to visit any of 125 countries around the world – including the UK, France, Germany and Canada.

Hamish de Bretton-Gordon told The Sun that the United States is among the minority of countries which does not recognise the rule of the ICC.

The States sit among the ranks of Russia, China, Pakistan and a handful of others in disregarding the framework.

This means that, unlike most nations, the US “is not bound to arrest Putin”.

De Bretton-Gordon said: “He can roam around the world, in theory, in any countries that are not members of the ICC.

“A warrant from the ICC means nothing in those countries that are not signatories to it.

“And the Americans aren’t, so – he can go to Alaska.

“That is the loophole. He can operate exactly how he sees fit. He wouldn’t have gone anywhere where potentially he could be arrested.”

So the Kremlin can be confident that their leader will be leaving the Arctic state in his own plane – and trotting the globe without any threat of repercussions.

But de-Bretton Gordon insisted the Russians will not be relying on assumptions, and that Putin will be leaving nothing to chance with his visit.

He said: “Trump will have given Putin some cast iron agreement he won’t be arrested for the criminal proceedings against him.”

There are a few other reasons Putin is likely chuffed with Alaska as the meeting point, according to the security expert.

He said: “President Putin is absolutely fixated about his own security, and his desire not to wander out of friendly airspace.

“There’s not much of that to Alaska – would only be in international airspace for a few miles.”

It also means Russian power is making a return to the territory once owned by the Tsardom of Russia.

Putin’s distant predecessor Tsar Alexander II sold it to America in 1867 for $7.2 million — or two cents per acre.

And the Great State of Alaska is also a very long way away from Europe, and all the pesky diplomats who have got under Putin’s skin.

The choice of location for meetings between rival superpowers carries enormous significance.

Many times, the charged encounters have been backdropped by Washington or Moscow – as well as Geneva, Vienna and even a Soviet cruise ship.

But Alaskan officials are delighted that their icy land will for the first time host a superpower summit.

Its geographical location automatically makes it a logical option, placed as it is directly between the US and the expanse of eastern Russia.

You can even see Russian territory while standing on Alaskan soil – if you stand on the island of Little Diomede and look out to Big Diomede.

Mike Dunleavy, the Republican governor there since 2018, posted on X: “Alaska is the most strategic location in the world, sitting at the crossroads of North America and Asia, with the Arctic to our north and the Pacific to our south.

“A mere two miles separating Russia from Alaska, no other place plays a more vital role in our national defence, energy security, and Arctic leadership.”

Russian media predictably hailed the meeting as a triumph for Putin and a blow for Zelensky – who appears to have been excluded.

But there is cause for Trump to celebrate the location of the summit as well.

It’s significant that Putin is making the journey to America, rather than him travelling the other way – despite the seven or so hours it will take him from Washington in Air Force One.

As host, he enjoyed the the privilege of announcing the meeting on his treasured Truth Social.

An exact venue for the summit was yet to be confirmed as of Monday, with officials still scrambling to finalize the details.

On top of Season 2 of With Love, Meghan, they will also do a “Holiday Celebration” Christmas special this December.

“Together, friends and family deck the halls, create holiday feasts, craft heartfelt gifts, and share lots of laughs – with simple how-tos to follow at home. It’s a holiday wonder with warmth, tradition, and a generous dose of joy.”

There will also be a short film called”Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within”.

It will look at Uganda’s Masaka region, and the HIV/AIDS crisis linger.

A statement added: “Archewell Productions is in active development on additional projects with Netflix that span a variety of content genres, including the feature adaptation of the bestselling novel by Carley Fortune, Meet Me At The Lake.

Once judged by some as Britain’s greatest soft power asset since Princess Diana, Meghan was filmed for her show making ladybird-shaped canapes from cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls.

In truth, the show is a smash hit compared to her husband’s vanity docuseries Polo, blasted as “a dull indulgence about a rich person’s pursuit”.

In the first six months of the year the programme attracted a disastrous 500,000 views globally, ranking it at number 3,442 out of around 7,000 shows.

It was also recently announced Netflix had signed a deal with King Charles and Idris Elba for a documentary exploring the impact of the King’s Trust.

It comes as the streaming giant is making a new season of With Love, Meghan.

The Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle show was widely derided by viewers and reviewers alike.

But the huge interest in the programme, which features Meghan with cameos from husband Prince Harry, convinced bosses to give it another outing.

The duchess posted on Instagram at the time saying she’s “thrilled” with the decision.

Wearing a Netflix cap she was seen grinning in a short clip on her stories, with the caption: “Lettuce romaine calm… or not(!) because I’m thrilled to share that Season 2 of ‘With Love, Meghan’ is coming!”

With Love, Meghan is the second Netflix collaboration for the Sussexes, who signed a lucrative multi-million pound deal with the streaming giant back in 2020.

The Duchess of Sussex’s podcast Confessions of a Female Founder — focusing on entrepreneurs — also dropped out of the Spotify Top 100 lists in the US and UK.

Ingrid Seward, of Majesty magazine, said of the 43-year-old’s podcasts: “They are deeply dull. I don’t think she’s at the cutting edge.

“She hasn’t pressed the right buttons this time. She’s just not talented enough. She appears to be pretty complacent and shameless about what she does. It’s just boring.”

With Love, Meghan was released to tie in with the launch of the Duchess of Sussex’s As Ever brand.

However both her Netflix series and her brand have been slammed by royal experts time and time again.

Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, broadcaster Esther Krakue questioned the point of the eight-part With Love, Meghan, which saw the duchess hosting celeb pals such as Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer.

The Netflix series saw Meghan making guest baskets, beeswax candles, and a single skillet spaghetti, filmed at a farmhouse near her £12million Montecito mansion.

Esther shared: “There’s nothing there. 

“She’s very, like – I’m not saying this to be horrible – she is not an entertainer or an entertaining person.”

After signing on the Sussexes in a deal reportedly worth £78million over five years, Netflix has so far created a Harry & Meghan documentary, Invictus and Polo.

Despite any criticism, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos is said to be in full support of the Duchess of Sussex.

The second series of With Love, Meghan — with no Harry or their children Archie, six, and Lilibet, three — has already been filmed and is due to be screened in the autumn.

PHILADELPHIA Eagles star Landon Dickerson was carted off the field with a right leg injury during his team’s open practice last night.

The 26-year-old is set to undergo an MRI test later today to determine the extent of the injury.

Dickerson fell to the turf as Jalen Hurts passed the ball to Saquon Barkley.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Dickerson will have an MRI on his right knee today.

The Eagles star had been included on Saturday’s injury report due to a knee issue.

But he was not included on yesterday’s report prior to the open session.

Dickerson is a three-time Pro Bowler.

And the Eagles will be desperate to have him available for their first regular season game.

Nick Sirianni‘s men begin their campaign with a home game against the Dallas Cowboys on September 4.

Should former Alabama star Dickerson be forced to miss time, Brett Toth would likely step into his role.

Toth, 28, replaced his injured team-mate for what was left of Sunday’s session.

Philadelphia also added more depth to the position earlier this year.

Sirianni’s team added Matt Pryor in free agency.

Over the years, the Friends actor was very open about his relationships with his co-stars, particularly as he battled addiction as they filmed the hit sitcom.

And he and Jennifer Aniston were known to be very close friends over the years. 

Now, in an interview with Vanity Fair, 56-year-old Jennifer has opened up on ‘mourning him’ before his death, due to his demons.

She said: “We did everything we could when we could.

“But it almost felt like we’d been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight.

“As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there’s a part of me that thinks this is better. I’m glad he’s out of that pain.”

In his memoir, Perry detailed his battle with painkillers and alcohol as he worked on the Friends set.

By early 2000, the actor said he was “taking so many pills that I couldn’t leave my bedroom.”

However, Perry revealed he believed he could hide the bad habits, as he was still able to show up to work and remember his lines.

But that didn’t stop his friend Aniston from calling him out.

Perry said she came to his Friends trailer and said one simple sentence, “I know you’re drinking.”

“I had long since gotten over her — ever since she started dating Brad Pitt, I was fine — and had worked out exactly how long to look at her without it being awkward, but still, to be confronted by Jennifer Aniston was devastating,” Perry wrote.

“And I was confused.”

He told his co-star that he had been trying to hide it, but she revealed those efforts were for not.

“‘We can smell it,’ she said, in a kind of weird but loving way, and the plural ‘we’ hit me like a sledgehammer,” Perry said.

Perry later said he was extremely grateful for Aniston throughout that tumultuous period.

As he checked himself into rehab and continued on the long path to sobriety, Perry said Aniston would check on him.

“She was the one that reached out the most,” he said to Diane Sawyer in an October 2022 interview.

“You know, I’m really grateful to her for that.”

A doctor recently pleaded guilty to giving Matthew Perry ketamine in the month leading up to the Friends star’s horrific overdose death.

Dr. Salvador Plasencia admitted to contributing to the tragic death of the 54-year-old actor whom he branded a “moron” in sick texts.

The California doctor had been charged in the 2023 overdose death of the Friends star.

He pleaded guilty to four counts of illegal distribution of the prescription anesthetic ketamine.

He was one of five people charged in connection with Perry‘s tragic death.

According to prosecutors and co-defendants, Plasencia illegally supplied Perry with a large amount of ketamine starting about a month before his death on October 28, 2023.

According to co-defendant Dr. Mark Chavez, who has also pleaded guilty to taking part in the drug exchange, Plasencia in a text message mocked the actor as a “moron” who could be exploited for money.

In an exchange between Plasencia and Chavez, they discussed how much they were going to charge Perry, with Plasencia writing, “I wonder how much this moron will pay” and “Lets [sic] find out.”
