Indiana Fever forced into drastic action after injury crisis deepens and Caitlin Clark teammate is forced out for season
THE Indiana Fever have been forced into a drastic measure to address their injury crisis.
The WNBA team has been decimated with the latest setbacks coming last week.

They lost both Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald to season-ending injuries.
Indiana is still dealing with Caitlin Clark being out with a groin injury.
The Fever only had nine players available for a game against the Chicago Sky.
Under WNBA rules, teams can sign a hardship player if they fall below ten active players.
But according to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou, they were only able to sign another player after the Sky game.
And the Indiana Fever moved to sign veteran guard Odyssey Sims Sunday on a hardship contract.
A statement on the team’s website read, “The Indiana Fever have signed guard Odyssey Sims to a hardship contract, the team announced today.
“The Fever qualify for the hardship roster spot due to the injuries to Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald.
“Sims has averaged 11.2 points per game, 3.8 assists per game and 2.5 rebounds per game across her 11-year WNBA career, making appearances with Tulsa Shock (2014-15), Dallas Wings (2016, 2023-24), LA Sparks (2017-18, 2024-25), Minnesota Lynx (2019-20, 2022), Atlanta Dream (2021) and Connecticut Sun (2022).
“During the 2019 season, while with the Lynx, Sims was named to her first WNBA All-Star team and the All-WNBA Second Team.
“Sims spent the first part of the 2025 season with the LA Sparks where she averaged 9.8 points per game and 3.5 assists per game in 11 games started.
“As a collegiate athlete, Sims played at Baylor University where she was a part of the 2012 NCAA National Championship team, earning Big 12 Player of the Year and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2014. Sims was drafted No. 2 overall in the 2014 WNBA Draft.
“Sims will wear No. 1 for the Fever.”
Colson suffered a torn ACL in Thursday’s game against the Phoenix Mercury.
Aari McDonald broke a bone in her right foot as the Fever were hammered 95-60.

Indiana bounced back to beat the Chicago Sky 92-70.
Clark is still missing with a groin injury with late August looking a likely return.
Head coach Stephanie White said last week that there is “no timetable” for when she could return.
“[She is] going through the rehab process, and then we want to reintegrate her from a strength and conditioning standpoint and then get her back to basketball activities.
“So we’re taking it one day at a time, really slow rolling it, slow playing it this time…
“The most important thing for us is Caitlin’s long-term health and getting her back to 100% before we put her back on the floor.”

MORICE Norris returned to the Detroit Lions’ practice facility just days after being hospitalized in his team’s preseason opener.
Norris was involved in a terrifying collision on Friday night that saw him placed in an ambulance on the field and taken to the hospital.

Norris went in for a tackle on Friday night and took a knee to the helmet in the proccess.
From there on it was a nightmare, as he laid stiff on the ground.
