ReutersFrance MUST do more to stop Channel migrants, Starmer will demand in crunch summit with Macron[/caption]
GettyA summer surge of illegal crossings is under way, with outbreaks of violence[/caption]
It comes as French police are now entering the water but dismally failing to stop journeys, with 1,500 migrants crossing the Channel in the past four days.
The PM said relations have improved with the French “in relation to the work we both need to do to stop these boat crossings”.
He added: “I want to see more cooperation in northern France, and it’s an issue that I have raised and will raise again with President Macron.”
The PM said he will also engage with other European leaders on tackling illegal immigration at the summit in Alberta, Canada.
Sir Keir has struggled to stem migrant arrivals since arriving at No 10 last July.

ALEXANDER ZVEREV barked “I’m f***ing tired of you” after losing to Taylor Fritz in the Stuttgart Open final.
The German, 28, has struggled against the American over the last 12 months.

Fritz, 27, endured an awful clay court season, winning just three matches in four events amid physical struggles.
But he has appeared to be a man revitalised on the grass of Stuttgart this week, beating Quentin Halys, Marton Fucsovics, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Zverev to lift the title.
Fritz’s 6-3 7-6 triumph in the final was his fifth in a row against Zverev during the last year.
In his runner-up speech during the trophy ceremony, spiky Zverev joked: “Last but not least, Taylor, I’m f***ing tired of you.
“I don’t wanna see you again over the next two to three years. Please stay away from me. Don’t come to Germany anymore.
“No, well done you deserve to win this title.
“You are one of the best players in the world on this surface and you were much better than me today, so congrats to the whole team and I’m sure you are going to do incredible on the next two tournaments on grass, so well done.”
Fritz smiled sheepishly while sat in his chair during Zverev’s speech.
During his post-match press conference, the three-time Grand Slam runner-up huffed: “His team is extremely respectful. I think his coach, his physio and also his second coach were extremely respectful.
“But I think there are some other people that, maybe, are in the box that are not, maybe from the tennis world and are not, maybe, particularly watching every match.
“They were a bit over the top but that’s okay. No issues, no drama. He fought back from two sets to love so they are obviously all excited, very pumped up.
“But no issues with Taylor. I think Taylor is a great guy and I have no issues with him.”
At the time, Morgan shared an Instagram reel toasting and sipping her drink in a white dress and navy jacket, captioned: “When your man wins for the girls.”
Fritz has since beaten Zverev at the US Open, Laver Cup and ATP Finals.
The former Wimbledon quarter-finalist is set to be in action in London next week.
Fritz will head to the Queen’s Club to play in the HSBC Championships, and has drawn Frenchman Corentin Moutet in the first round.

Bellew put his hands to his face as he trudged down the tunnel, clearly despondent at his early withdrawal.
Physios attended to the stricken star, who winced in pain on the touchline after he was taken off.
Bellew’s left knee was heavily strapped and may have been the cause of his injury.
ITV commentator Sam Matterface said of the injury: “I heard it go. That can’t be good.”
Bellew’s Rest of the World manager Harry Redknapp shared a worrying injury update about the 42-year-old ahead of the match.
He said: “Tony Bellew, ex-world champion, he’s just decided to boot a ball without even warming up and just tore his groin.
“He’s so tough he’ll probably play on with it.”
Spanish dancer Gorka Márquez replaced the injured Bellew.

THOUSANDS of new car owners across the country have taken part in a survey to help determine the best motor money can buy in 2025.
Auto Express have revealed the results of their Driver Power owner satisfaction survey – and it’s seen a plush SUV take top spot.
The luxury Mercedes GLE SUV tops the Driver Power survey with a 92.24% score, excelling in driving pleasure, safety and overall qualityOwners rave about its luxurious interior, advanced tech and smooth rideSeen as an all-rounder, the Vauxhall Grandland secures second place with a spacious interior and great valuePARanking third, the Astra impresses with its smooth ride, advanced tech and timeless style[/caption]
Rising to fourth place, the Kuga scores high for safety, practicality and versatile boot space
Driver Power, which is the Carwow Group’s flagship research study, asked thousands of new car owners to share their thoughts and real-life experiences of the vehicles they newly bought.
They’re asked to judge their motor’s reliability, interior space, safety features, value-for-money and driving experience, in a bid to help car experts determine which set of wheels offers owners the ultimate satisfaction.
Last year, the winner was the delightful Dacia Duster – championed for being roomy, well-built and great value for money.
This year’s winner, though, was the classy Mercedes GLE – which topped the tables across six categories, including driving pleasure and overall quality.
The GLE reached a score of 92.24% overall, scoring highly across the board apart from in the economy and running costs category, where satisfaction with fuel economy sinks to 43rd place.
If you want to run this car, you may need deep pockets.
However, the GLE’s key wins included driving pleasure, safety attributes, climate, audio and sat-nav function, as well as overall quality.
Its exterior style, sat-nav and the balance of digital and touchscreen controls were all highly rated by owners, too.
Owners said: “The GLE’s luxurious interior, smooth ride, and advanced tech make it a joy to drive, but it’s roomy enough for family and luggage.
“Its powerful engine, spacious cabin, and sleek design blend comfort with performance perfectly.”
Coming in just behind the GLE was the Vauxhall Grandland with a score of 90.55% – topping one category and taking second place in five others.
Indeed, it failed to score outside of the top 10 in any of the categories, proving to be an excellent all rounder.
“It is high off the ground, with plenty of room inside,” said an owner.
“Quiet and comfortable on long journeys, and the boot is amazing.
“I like absolutely everything; it’s comfortable, easy to use and I look forward to driving it. It’s good value, too.”
Another Vauxhall – the most recent Astra – came in third place with a score of 89.97%, racking up six category ‘top fives’ – including first place in the ride and handling category.
For generations, the Astra has been one of Britain’s favourite family cars, with the latest iteration adored for its ride and handling, through to ride quality and road handling.
Owners also love the exterior style, ranking it third, while front seat comfort is fourth and interior style sixth.
An owner said: “It is smooth, quiet, very comfortable, it has an impressive range of driver assistance technology and it looks stunning, even after three years and 50,000 miles.”
Despite the Ford Puma continuing to enjoy a run as the nation’s best-selling car, in fourth place is another Ford – the Kuga – which has risen six places since last year after scoring highly for safety, practicality and interior – notably for boot space and seating versatility.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has also gone up by five places to rank fifth, thanks to especially good scores for infotainment and value for money.
One owner said: “I like the luxurious interior and the smooth ride, the advanced safety features, the strong performance and the elegant design.”
Talking about the results, Paul Barker, editor of Auto Express, said: “Driver Power is Carwow Group’s leading car ownership survey, brought to life by Auto Express.
“It reveals what owners genuinely think – and how they feel – about their cars.
“That unique perspective gives unrivalled insight into what prospective customers can expect, and tells manufacturers exactly what their own customers think of the cars they sell.
“From running costs to quality and infotainment, we get the views of people living with these cars day-to-day, and the results show the cars that offer the best chance of a very satisfying ownership experience.”

He has been lashing out all week, throwing his clubs in a rage when things have not gone his way.

Shoppers are loving the initiative and taking advantage of the rewards.
One TikTok user, who goes by the name ‘Hyperfocus_rewards’, shared her experience in a video captioned: “It’s basically 50% back on your £10 spend.”
She revealed that she had 27 items approved for the recycling scheme, meaning she could exchange them for points.
The scheme works by giving customers £5 worth of points on their Advantage card when they recycle five qualifying items and spend £10 in store.
The TikToker explained that her basket full of recycling goods will earn her £25 worth of points – making it not just eco-friendly but wallet-friendly too.
The Recycle at Boots scheme accepts products such as toothpaste tubes, lotion pumps, and small cosmetics like mascaras or travel minis.
