Woman, 32, convicted of stabbing mum, 31, to death in front of her child at birthday party

A WOMAN has been found guilty of brutally stabbing a mother to death at a London house party.

Hope Rowe, 33, attacked Charlotte Lawlor with a knife at a property in Stepney Green, east London, on September 15 last year.

Emergency services found Ms Lawlor in the foyer of the tower block just before 2am.

Charlotte Lawlor suffered multiple stab wounds at the hands of Rowe with some of the victim’s friends and family witnessing the brutal attack.

Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical staff, Lawlor passed away from her injuries.

Inner London Crown Court heard that Rowe stabbed Lawlor following an argument and then fled the scene in a car with her partner, Leigh Holder, 37.

Armed cops caught up with the fleeing vehicle shortly after 2:10am and discovered only Leigh Holder inside.

He told cops that Rowe had jumped out of the car shortly after fleeing the crime scene and claimed he didn’t know where she was.

The court heard that Rowe left a voicemail on Holder’s phone as they drove away together, which recorded her telling him that it was “good” she had killed Ms Lawlor, before Holder instructed her to dispose of the knife and to avoid the police.

The knife used to kill Lawlor has never been found despite the best efforts of police.

In the early morning the following day the court heard Rowe went to Bethnal Green Police Station where she was arrested on suspicion of murder.

She provided no comment during a police interview and later claimed her actions were due to a momentary loss of control.

On Friday, a jury at the London court found Rowe guilty of murder and Holder guilty of perverting the course of justice.

Rowe and her partner Holder will be sentenced at the court on July 9.

Det Sgt Dean Musgrove, from the Met Police’s specialist crime north unit, said: “Hope Rowe launched a brutal attack on Charlotte Lawlor at what should have been a joyous occasion.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends, who will have to contend not only with the loss of a loved one, but with the trauma of having witnessed the killing.

“As if the killing was not senseless enough, Rowe then tried to deceive investigators, disposing of the knife before turning herself in.

“It still has not been found to this day, and both Rowe and her partner were incriminated by a voicemail accidentally recorded on Rowe’s phone.”

The victims parents said in a statement they were “happy” with the verdict, adding: “We would like to thank the jury for their attention during the trial.

“The family will never get over the loss and murder of Charlotte. It has destroyed us, leaving a gaping hole.

“Charlotte’s son, Riley, has been left without a mum, and siblings without their older sister and best friend. Charlotte brought light to everyone’s life.”

There are a number of tricks to elevate your home[/caption]

TikTok user @beauty.chronicles uploaded a video saying: “How to make your home look x100 more expensive, from an interior designer.”

Their first tip was to never hang curtains just about the window as they claimed it looks “so unclassy.”

They advised: “Hang them at the ceiling to make your windows look taller and get that luxurious vibe.”

Their next piece of advice was to ditch dark floors, including dark wooden ones, as they show “every crumb” and are a “nightmare” to keep clean.

The interior pro said you should instead get light wood tones as it’ll make your home look bigger and modern.

Next up was kitchen sinks, and if yours are overmounted it is bad news.

The interior expert claimed that these look “cheap”, compared to “undermounts.”

They added that these not only look sleeker, are easier to keep clean and can often cost the same.

Her next gripe was with dark countertops, and she said you should get rid of them “immediately.”

She advised: “If replacing them isn’t in the budget, epoxy kits are a great way to brighten them up.”

Many people have jumped on the trend of having one accent wall in a lounge or a bedroom.

Instead, you should “carry the trim all the way around the room to look more custom.”

Finally, they had a tip when it came to bathrooms.

They shared how you should ditch your “builder-grade showerhead” and swap it for a filtered one.

The interior designer said it also had the added benefit of being good for your beauty regime too.

She explained: “Your hair and skin will literally thank you.”

Her tips have racked up nearly 10,000 likes, and people were quick to give their views.

One said: “first tip is good.”

Another added: “I agree with the first one.”

However, one wrote: “first tip don’t listen to interior designers.”

The staggering $1,500 cost to watch NFL this season as fans rage streaming services have ‘got out of hand’

NFL fans are growing concerned with how expensive it is to watch games.

The 2025 season will require six different streaming services in order to watch every game.

It costs over $1,000 for a fan to watch every game in 2025[/caption]

Everything is getting more expensive in 2025, but football is growing at an exponential rate.

While it is always expensive to watch a game in-person it shouldn’t be financially crippling to watch at home.

However, that is what is starting to happen with the prices of streaming services.

X account Dov Kleiman calculated the cost of watching the NFL season, and found it to be ridiculously expesive.

First, a fan needs to subscribe to Amazon Prime for the whole season, costing $89.94.

They also need to have ESPN+, which adds another $104.94.

NFL Sunday ticket comes next, which is a whopping $522.

YouTube TV is another massive expense this NFL season, costing fans $563.88.

Peacock will be needed for a few games, costing $13.99.

Lastly, Netflix is needed for the Christmas games, costing $22.99.

On top of all of those expenses, taxes come in from the top rope to add another $197.66.

In total, an NFL fan will need to spend $1,515.40 to watch the full NFL season this year.

NFL fans are furious with the cost of watching and shared their plans for the season on social media.

“Probably costs less than $500 to go to a sports bar to get a lunch and a couple beers every Sunday afternoon for 18 weeks,” one fan said.

NFL important dates 2025 season

March 12 - Free Agency begins

April 24-26 – NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin

September 4 – 2025 season opener (TBC vs Eagles)

November 27 – Thanksgiving Day triple header

January 4, 2026 – End of regular-season

February 8, 2026 – Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California

“They need to fix this,” another fan said.

“I love football, but I don’t sign up for a tv service just because the nfl game is on,” a third fan said.

“I’d just like to watch all my teams games and playoffs,” a fourth fan said.

“If the NFL offered a team package I would gladly pay. the NFL is stupid for not doing this,” a fifth fan said.

Drivers warned over common car feature that quietly causes insurance bill to spike – you’ll pay more just for having it

MOTORISTS are being warned that a common feature in most modern cars could quietly increase insurance rates.

In a surprising downside, many details meant to help prevent accidents could make things pricier – mainly because these systems are expensive to fix.

Little-known to most motorists, many features meant to help prevent accidents could make things pricier (stock)[/caption]

These include driver assistance systems, built to enhance safety and convenience, as well as automatic emergency braking.

While these features can reduce claims by 25% in the UK, a new study reveals they’ve also driven up costs over five years.

That’s because cameras, radar and lidar sensors are all pricey features to replace – with there being more to the process than just simply swapping out damaged components.

That’s according to Car Scoops, who cited an Auto News piece claiming that high-tech systems need to be properly calibrated.

For example, a “sensor misaligned by a single degree – about the depth of a business card – can throw it off target by 66 inches (1,676 mm) at a distance of 100 yards (91.4 meters).”

This also means that only a handful of shops can do the work as they need to have a perfectly level flooring, ideal lighting and “automaker-specific targets to calibrate sensors.”

This equipment, for example, can cost up to $1 million – a serious investment that only certain shops can afford.

“It’s almost becoming too expensive to fix the car,” Hami Ebrahimi, chief commercial officer at Caliber Collision, told Autonews.

What’s more, some owners have been known to simply turn off driver assistance systems because they find annoying – meaning some insurance companies end up paying a lot to repair systems that drivers don’t even use.

According to a ValuePenguin study, the average cost of insurance is expected to hit a record high of $2,101 and tech plays a role in this – with car makers increasingly making advanced safety features come as standard.

This contributes to the rising cost of car ownership, with AAA claiming the average annual cost to own and operate a new vehicle is now $12,297, or about $1,024 per month.

GOT YOUR NUMBER

It comes as an insurance company has been accused of a serious error which saw multiple customer bank accounts drained in an issue that went unnoticed for years.

The driver’s license numbers of some 190,000 individuals through the company’s auto insurance quote platform were left exposed – leading to a class action lawsuit.

Digital insurer Lemonade, used across the US and in parts of Europe, has allegedly violated the privacy of as many as 190,000 drivers after cyber criminals hacked into its auto insurance quote platform.

The complaint, which has been filed in federal court in Manhattan, accuses Lemonade of negligence and violating the federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) data security guidelines.

Worse still, the data breach reportedly occurred between April 2023 and September 2024 – but was not detected by Lemonade until March 2025.

The company then began notifying affected individuals and regulators on April 10, 2025 – meaning there was a delay of two years.

Meanwhile, drivers are seeing their insurance costs skyrocket after getting a single traffic ticket.

The spike is worsened if you live in certain areas with one state putting an average increase of 49% onto insurance costs.

Car insurance tips

Here are some ways to lower monthly car insurance rates:

  • Increase the deductible – this may increase the amount drivers must pay in an accident
  • Ask insurance carriers for discounts
  • Slow down on the road
  • Keep off the cell phone behind the wheel
  • Improve credit scores (in some states)
  • Bundle insurance policies
