Chelsea vs Los Angeles FC preview
Chelsea get their Club World Cup competition up and running on Monday night with a game against LAFC.
The Blues finished the season like a train, finishing in the Champions League places and wrapping up European glory by winning the Conference League.
And they’ve been fairly busy in the first transfer window too, signing Mike Penders, centre-back Mamadou Sarr, Dario Essugo and £30million man Liam Delap all in the squad.
However Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi – returning after loans at Arsenal and Aston Villa, respectively – won’t be traveling as they look for their futures elsewhere.
Chelsea are in the top half dozen in the outright betting markets but will face stiff competition once progressing through Group D.
Los Angeles FC came through a play off in dramatic fashion, beating Club America in extra time.
An 89th minute equaliser got LAFC back level before a Denis Bouanga goal – assisted by ex-Blues man Olivier Giroud – in the 115th minute secured their spot here.
Ex-Spurs man Hugo Lloris is the LAFC goalkeeper, with the side having only formed 11 years ago.

Palmeiras vs Porto predictions, odds and betting tips
PALMEIRAS take on Porto in a tantalising clash at the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday night.
With Group A wide open, both sides will be eager to make an early statement as South America and Europe collide in a MetLife Stadium showdown.
Best Palmeiras vs Porto betting tips
- Palmeiras to win – 35/20 with SBK
- No in BTTS – 20/23 with BetVictor
- Estêvão Willian to score or assist – 41/20 with BetMGM
Palmeiras vs Porto odds
Find the latest football betting odds for Palmeiras vs Porto here. Our odds are provided by our recommended football betting sites and are subject to change.
Palmeiras vs Porto predictions
Group A is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing and wide-open groups at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Porto narrowly leads the betting to top the table at 11/8, with Palmeiras close behind at 7/4.
The bookmakers are similarly split on the match itself, installing Porto as marginal favourites to get their campaign off to a winning start.
However, neither side is considered a serious contender to win the tournament outright.
Palmeiras are priced at 33/1, the shortest odds among South American teams, while Porto are further adrift at 40/1.
But are Palmeiras being underestimated?
Under Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras have enjoyed one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. He’s delivered two Copa Libertadores titles (2020, 2021), Brazilian league crowns in 2022 and 2023, and also guided them to a Club World Cup final in 2021 (they lost 2-1 to Chelsea).
A second-place finish in the 2024 Brazilian Série A might be viewed as a slight step back, but Palmeiras were in the title race until the final weekend, so it was hardly a collapse.
Their 2025 domestic campaign has started steadily. They have 22 points from 11 matches, although back-to-back defeats in their two most recent matches have raised some concerns about their current form.
Porto, meanwhile, endured a frustrating season in the Primeira Liga, finishing third, 11 points behind champions Sporting and nine adrift of Benfica.
Back-to-back defeats cost head coach Vítor Bruno his job in January. The decision may have seemed harsh at the time, his side had only just slipped to third, but the club acted swiftly.
In came Argentine Martín Anselmi. Results didn’t improve immediately, but Porto found form late on in the campaign, winning eight of their final eleven matches under his leadership.
Palmeiras vs Porto betting tips
With both sides a bit unpredictable right now, there could be real value in the betting markets for this one. Check out our Palmeiras vs Porto betting tips below:
Palmeiras to win
Famous last words here, but we feel that the Brazilians are being a touch underestimated here.
Palmeiras have a good track record in recent years. Okay, 2024 and 2025 haven’t been as productive as the previous three or four, but even though they have so far failed to scale the same heights, Abel Ferreira’s team are still more than competitive.
Porto, on the other hand, have been anything but. They underwhelmed domestically and in Europe, and there is little evidence to suggest anything will change at the Club World Cup. We are siding with the Brazilians to win a low scorer.
Back Palmeiras to win at 35/20 with SBK
Both teams not to score
Palmeiras aren’t what you might call an entertaining team to watch.
In their eleven Brazilian Série A matches this season, they have scored 12 goals and conceded just eight. Hard to beat – might be a phrase that springs to mind.
Porto have hardly been inspiring in their domestic league this season. They may have finished their campaign with a flurry of goals, but by this stage, Champions League qualification was gone – and it could be argued the pressure was off.
In what is an open group, both teams might decide avoiding defeat takes priority – and that points to a lack of goals.
Back no in both teams to score at 20/23 with BetVictor
Estêvão Willian to score or assist
Much like the FIFA World Cup often brings new stars into the spotlight, the newly revamped Club World Cup looks set to do the same.
One such rising talent is 18-year-old Estêvão Willian of Palmeiras. Unlike many breakout players, his future is already set – he’s agreed to join Chelsea later this summer.
In a match that could be decided by a moment of magic, backing the next Brazilian wonderkid to be involved in a goal looks like smart value at odds better than 2/1.
Back Estêvão Willian to score or assist at 41/20 with BetMGM

I tried supermarket Coca-Cola dupes – the 49p winner tastes identical to the real thing
COCA-COLA is one of the biggest and well-known brands on the planet.
And even though many of us worry about the effect of the sugar hit on our waistlines, sales are still going strong.

In 2024, the company’s global net sales increased by 3% to £37.9billion.
Supermarkets have struggled to recreate the iconic taste but cola ‘dupes’ are getting better every day.
The question is – are any of them good enough to satisfy your cola craving? Lynsey Hope finds out:
Sainsbury’s Cola (2 litres)
- 80p

This looked darker in colour than most colas and wasn’t strong or fizzy enough.
There was no satisfying “psst” as you opened the bottle and no bubbles as you poured.
It needed more cola punch and went flat quite quickly after pouring into the glass, though the sweetness was about right.
Drinkable, but no match for Coca-Cola.
- Taste: 3/5
- Value: 3/5
- Total: 6/10
Morrisons Cola (2 litres)
- 80p

Morrisons‘ version was unoffensive and easy to drink.
It was pleasant enough, sweet without being sickly and boasted a nice cola taste.
It had a good fizz when you unscrewed the cap and was bubbly to drink.
It’s not as good as the original, but with ice and a slice it was passable and a good, family size bottle.
My kids tried a bit – and enjoyed it.
- Taste: 4/5
- Value: 3/5
- Total: 7/10
Lidl Freeway Cola (2 litres)
- 49p

If you need to save cash on cola, this dark caramel-coloured pop compares very well to the real deal.
It is very sugary and sticks in the mouth a bit, but the sweetness level and aroma are almost identical to the market leader.
It’s very wallet-friendly, costing just 49p for two litres.
Side by side in a glass, it’s quite tricky to tell the difference between this and the original but the great price means you can enjoy more of it.
- Taste: 4/5
- Value: 5/5
- Total: 9/10
Coca-Cola Original (1.25 litres)
- 80p

There is no mistaking the caramel taste and punchy cola flavour of the original.
But it is very expensive – costing 80p for a bottle containing 750ml less than most of the own brands.
It also packs a mighty sugar hit, with 10.6g per 100ml which is not good news for your teeth or your waistline.
- Taste: 5/5
- Value: 3/5
- Total: 8/10
Tesco Classic Cola (2 litres)
- 80p

The Tesco cola was loaded with artificial sweeteners including acefulfame k and sucralose which gave it an overly sweet and sickly taste.
It was treacle-like in colour and tasted unpleasant. It was less sugary than some as a result with just 4.4g of sugar per 100ml, so it might be an option if you’re cutting sugar intake.
But I felt it left my mouth dry and wasn’t at all refreshing. Leave this one on the shelf.
- Taste: 2/5
- Value: 2/5
- Total: 4/10
Aldi Vive Cola (2 litres)
- 49p

If you get through a bottle of branded cola a week, switching to Aldi Vive could save you over £16 in a year – and you get more in the bottle for your money.
I thought it was the best budget option cola.
It had the right strength of cola flavour with a punchy taste and the right amount of sweetness and fizz.
It will save you a packet compared to the big brands.
- Taste: 3/5
- Value: 5/5
- Total: 8/10
Asda Classic Cola (2 litres)
- 70p

This is a great all-rounder with no artificial sweeteners, and could save you a lot if you guzzle through litres of the big brand.
Not only is it better value than many big supermarkets including Tesco and Sainsbury’s, but it has a lovely smooth taste and is easier on the palate than other budget options.
It’s a very dark caramel colour and had plenty of gas to keep it carbonated in the glass.
- Taste: 4/5
- Value: 3/5
- Total: 7/10
How to save money on your supermarket shop
THERE are plenty of ways to save on your grocery shop.
You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they’ve been reduced.
If the food is fresh, you’ll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.
Making a list should also save you money, as you’ll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket.
Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too.
This means ditching “finest” or “luxury” products and instead going for “own” or value” type of lines.
Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.
For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.
If you’re on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.
Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.
Discover Sun Bingo’s medieval games on the anniversary of the Magna Carta
ON this day in 1215, the historic document was signed at Runnymede, Surrey.
King John I of England was born on 24th December 1166. As the fourth son, he was not expected to inherit lands, leading to the nickname John Lackland.

However, after the untimely deaths of his older brothers, without heirs, John became king in 1199. As such, he became ruler of the Angevin Empire, which included the regions of Aquitaine, Normandy and Brittany.
However, after a series of unsuccessful wars, King John lost all of his territories in Northern France.
In order to fund his futile attempts to regain Normandy and Brittany, the king imposed heavy taxes on the English barons.
Failure to comply was severely punished, with barons having their lands seized or male children kidnapped and ransomed.
HOW MUCH MONEY CAN YOU WIN PLAYING ONLINE BINGO? FIND OUT NOW
Disquiet grew and, after a particularly humiliating defeat of John’s allies in the Battle of Bouvines, the barons rebelled. This commenced the First Barons’ War. Their cause quickly gained momentum and they captured London.
Forced to negotiate, the king met with the rebels at Runnymede. The resulting agreement was written up and dubbed the Magna Carta (the great charter).
It was signed 810 years ago today.
This was the first time in English history that rules were imposed to limit the power of the monarch. Previously, it was believed that under the divine right of kings, monarchs derived their right to rule from God and as such were not subject to any other earthly authority.
PLAY IN LIVE TRIVIA QUIZZES TO WIN GOLDEN CHIPS
A council of 25 barons was formed in order to uphold the agreement and the rebellion was over… for 10 weeks.
The Pope declared the charter null and void, breaking the terms of the peace agreement. As tensions grew once more, King John died on 19th October 1216. When nine-year-old Henry III took the throne, he agreed to honour the charter in order to keep the peace.
The Magna Carta was reissued several times over the 13th century before eventually becoming a part of English law.
Much of the charter is no longer relevant, having been specifically written to address rights and customs within a feudal system.

However, four of the original 63 clauses are still valid in English law today. The most famous clauses are 39 and 40:
No free man shall be seized, imprisoned, dispossessed, outlawed, exiled or ruined in any way, nor in any way proceeded against, except by the lawful judgment of his peers and the law of the land.
To no one will we sell, to no one will we deny or delay right or justice.
This demands a right to due legal process. It has been noted that the expectations of justice and a fair trial inspired elements of the Declaration of Independence and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Inter Miami 0 Al Alhy 0: David Beckham watches Messi draw a blank in CWC opener next to Wenger days after knighthood

FORGET the scoreline – this was a knight to remember for Sir David Beckham.
Fresh from receiving his knighthood, Becks was back in Miami, nestled into the posh seats alongside Arsene Wenger as his Inter Miami side kicked off the brand-new Club World Cup at Hard Rock Stadium.

When he started building an MLS franchise back in 2014, not even Beckham’s wildest dreams could’ve conjured this — his boys in pink, led by Lionel Messi, opening FIFA’s glitzy new global tournament on home turf.
But here they were, bathed in Florida humidity, facing Egyptian titans Al Ahly in what promised to be a baptism by fire.
On the face of it, drawing 0-0 didn’t have Becks jumping up for joy.
Yet it was a gritty point which proved his side might not be the pushovers many predicted, even if there will be sterner tests to come in the shape of Porto and Brazilian side Palmeiras.
The odds coming into last night’s clash weren’t great. Miami have been in freefall in MLS.
Al Ahly — 45-time Egyptian champions and backed by a deafening sea of red in the stands — were tipped to cruise. And they nearly did.
On 42 minutes, they won a penalty – which showcased the new-fangled ref-cam for the first time – but standout keeper Oscar Ustari guessed right and denied Trezeguet with a brilliant save.
It was a huge moment that kept Miami afloat.

Messi was quiet early on, unusually subdued. Luis Suarez barely got a touch.
But the second half told a different story.
Messi came alive, brushing the post with a trademark free-kick and gradually seizing control.
The tempo lifted and the crowd responded.
Concerns over empty seats at the 65,000 capacity stadium were quickly erased — the place was almost at capacity and rocking with 60,927 taking it all in.
Al Ahly began to fade, drained by the heat and Miami’s late surge.
Sub Fafa Picault almost grabbed a late winner, another Messi curler grazed the bar in stoppage time before Egyptian keeper Mohamed El Shenawi pulled off an incredible save at the death from Maxi Falcon’s close-range header.
Becks, suit and booted, looked like he was kicking every ball in the stands, grimacing as he was beamed onto the big screen with the game in the balance.

But in the end, a draw for the MLS side and their superstar owner was a decent result.
FIFA boss Gianni Infantino would also have left Hard Rock Stadium a happy man.
Not only was the opening match a lively affair, there was no repeat of the nightmare scenes at last year’s Copa America final where Colombian and Argentina fans stormed into the stadium following lengthy delays to enter.
FIFA, thankfully, installed a ring of steel around the perimeter to keep everyone safe for the first match of the new 32-team tournament.
Miami boss Javier Mascherano said: “We knew we were up against a strong team.
The nerves and anxiety played a trick on us in the first half,.
“But we had our chances to win. The team left a very good impression.
“This is the path forward, playing like this, we can beat anyone.”

Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Onana’s EXIT hint, Emi Martinez ‘interest’, United turn to Osimhen after Gyokeres snub
MANCHESTER UNITED are in for a crucial summer of transfers at Old Trafford.
But they may need to recruit a goalkeeper quickly as Andre Onana has hinted that an exit could be round the corner.
And that replacement could be in the shape of Aston Villa star Emi Martinez who is reportedly attracting interest from United.
Meanwhile, the club are expected to now turn to their striker Plan B in Victor Osimhen after Viktor Gyokeres reportedly picked Arsenal over United.

I’ve visited over 100 cities across the world – here are my five European faves including 84p beers and £15 flights
HAVING been travelling the world for the best part of 15 years, it’s safe to say I’ve racked up a fair few city breaks.
And while that includes far-flung destinations from Colombia to Korea, these are a few that have taken my heart in Europe.

From amazingly friendly locals and cheap bars to beautiful streets and fun theme parks, here are my top five – and how to visit without breaking the bank.
Seville
One of my most recent ventures to Spain took me to the southern city of Seville and it quickly became my favourite place to go in the whole country.
It felt much more uniquely Spanish than other, more touristy cities, and was perfect for wandering down side streets lined with historic buildings and tapas bars spilling onto the road.
While this might have meant I ordered the wrong thing a few times (I swear I asked for fish only for chickpeas to arrive), it also means you can expect some Spanish prices.
For example, rather than a large beer, locals drink cañas, which admittedly are smaller – but that means they’re still cold by the time you finish.
You can find these for as little as €1 (84p) in some bars.
Along with one of the cheapest beers, you’ll also want to head to 100 Montaditos for some cheap food.
A Spanish fast food institution, they sell 100 different varieties of small sandwiches for €1 (84p) a pop every Wednesday and Sunday.
And if you know where to look, you can even visit some top attractions for free.
I love the the historic royal palace, the Alcázar of Seville, which has limited free tickets on Mondays between 6pm-7pm in April to September, and from 4pm-5pm in October to March.
Similarly, the cathedral – the largest gothic cathedral in the world – has free tickets every day from 2pm-3pm if you’re fast enough.
Hotels might be on the pricier side but tour operators have some great deals.
For example, easyJet holidays has a three-night package deal (with flights and a four-star hotel) for just £160 per personnext month.
If you don’t mind splashing out a bit, the newish Only U is one of my favourite hotels in Europe, feeling more like a fancy members club with outdoor pool and onsite florist and cafe.
Gothenburg
As the second city of Sweden, Gothenburg is sometimes overlooked in favour of Stolkhom.
But it shouldn’t be, and not least because it hosts an amazing music festival every summer that most people haven’t heard of – Way Out West.
I was lucky enough to see live music acts such as Chvrches and Sia there, and this year’s line up is just as good, with Charli XCX and Chappel Roan appearing.
Day tickets cost around £130, while three-days ones are £230 – much cheaper than Glastonbury‘s £373.
The best part? It isn’t a camping festival so I was well-rested and comfy in my Airbnb every night.
You can find hotels for around £65 a night, and Ryanair flights are around £15.
If music doesn’t take your fancy, the small city has its own theme park, Liseberg, which is opening a number of new rides in the next few years (entry starts from £7).

Meanwhile, the rest of the city feels like a fairytale town, especially the oldest neighborhood, Haga. My favourite cosy spot was Le Petit Cafe for a coffee and blueberry scone while people-watching and chatting to the owner.
Locals are big fans of ‘Afterwork’ or AW – AKA cheap beers and food after finishing work on a Friday.
For example, Kings Head lets you buy a beer for 59 SEK (£5) that comes with free access to the buffet – it’s simple food, but one of the most affordable when visiting between 5pm and 7pm.
Want to go full Swedish? Try the fried stömming fish, mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce from food truck Strömmingsluckan – even I was converted.
Lille
If you want all the great parts of Paris without actually going to Paris, then Lille is a great option.
It has its own Arc de Triomphe, albeit on a much smaller scale, as well as the Palais des Beaux-Arts (nicknamed the Louvre of Lille).
Once known as being the “Manchester of France” due to its textile and industrial history, the fifth-largest French city is also home to cheap weekend markets and an amazing food scene.
A must-try is the Meert vanilla waffle, said to be loved by former president Charles de Gaulle, which costs less than £3.
Lille Braderie Flea Market is the largest market in Europe, with more than 10,000 stalls, so you can find the perfect bargain souvenir. Just time your visit well as it only runs the first weekend of September.

Lille is also a great place to visit for nervous flyers, as it is one of the few destinations with direct trains from London St Pancras.
Taking just 1hr22 on the Eurostar, you can find £39 tickets if you’re quick (although some are as little as £31 right now).
Be even savvier and go for Eurostar Snap for up to 50 per cent off tickets, as long as you don’t mind not knowing the time of day you are visiting until nearer the departure.
Make sure to pop to rooftop restaurant NU, which has beautiful views over the city and is right by the train station too.
I love staying at the Mama Shelter hotels, and while the rooms start from £95 in Lille (including an extensive breakfast) they also often have 3-for-2 nights.
If you want something cheaper, there are lots of Ibis budget hotels around the city, some as little as £57 a night.
Copenhagen
While Copenhagen is the one of the pricier cities to visit in Europe, it’s still one of my favourites and I think worth the price.
Getting there is cheap as Ryanair has £15 flights from the UK.
And a must-visit is the famous Tivoli Gardens, which was said to have inspired Walt Disney.
Tickets start from £19 for entry – a fraction of the price of Disneyland, but just as magical on a smaller scale.
Copenhagen always feels extremely clean, and one of those cities where you constantly think: ‘Should I move here?’

It is often named one of the happiest and most liveable cities, which is no surprise given how easy and safe it is to get around.
My favourite place for brunch is Mad & Kaffe, where three small bowls of anything from protein, fruit or bakery items costs around £9, or try Grodwhich serves just porridge and risotto (hearty and warming when visiting in winter), for breakfast.
Alcohol is expensive here, so I recommend heading to one of the city’s bodegas if you really want a cheap drink.
Or try the new Kissavesterbro cocktail bar, where you can find cocktails for just over a fiver.
If you don’t mind a small room for the night, one of the cheapest stays that isn’t a hostel is the CityHub Copenhagen – a Japanese-like pod hotel with rooms from £50 a night.
You’ll have to share a communal bathroom but it’s more stylish that you’d think, with your own robes, rowels and Rituals toiletries.
Don’t mind splashing out? I love the stylish Hotel SP34 which starts from £155 a night, but has a free wine hour every evening at 5pm so you can make some of that money back.
Faro
Most people fly into Faro as a stopping point to the Algarve, but it is a great affordable base to explore the nearby areas.
For example, for a few euros and a 20-minute boat ride, you can visit an island nicknamed the Caribbean of Portugal.
Ilha Deserta has golden sandy beaches where you won’t see many other tourists – I was the only one there when I visited in May.
Make sure to grab some fresh fish from Estamine, the only restaurant on the island as well.

There is also Ilha Armona, also just a few minutes from the mainland, with a only few houses and food stalls.
Or just 15 minutes from Faro is the pretty fishing town of Olha, where you have to visit Terra i Mar for amazing seafood and massive glasses of local wine for £3.
I stayed at 3HB, the first five-star hotel in the area with one of the few infinity rooftop pools in Faro – easyJet Holidays has seven night holiday packages for £724pp.
Otherwise Loveholidays has seven-night stays with return flights for £279pp when staying at budget hotels like Best Western.
Here are some of my other top tips, including the best Cotswolds town to visit and my favourite UK hotels.
