A WALMART shopper looking for a summer dress was shocked to find a bloodied bridal gown sold on the website.
The gothic vintage dress, which resembles a Halloween costume, is being marketed as a swimsuit cover-up – leaving shoppers confused if it’s a mistake or a genuine listing.
One shopper took to social media platform X to share her bizarre find, posting a picture of the dress and THE product description that claims the gown is “perfect for [the] beach and vacation”.
She wrote in the caption: “Looking for a lovely summery dress that doubles as a swim suit cover up? This is it, according to the description!
“@Walmart – I think Halloween slid into a summer dress’s DMs and this is the result of their match made in heaven!”
The Walmart website’s product description markets the dress as a “coverup”.
It adds that the $16 gothic garment can be paired “easily with any combination of jewelry, sandals, heels [and] beach hats”.
A Walmart representative replied to the shopper’s post, stating they would “look into this”.
Weeks later, the shopper confirmed on X that the item was still listed with the same description.
The retailer again said it would investigate the matter.
The Sun has contacted Walmart for an update.
It comes as Walmart and other retailers like Kroger may be forced to make several changes to their self-checkout systems due to new legislation.
Under California Senate Bill 442, which has passed the Assembly Labor and Employment Committee, retailers could be required to ensure at least one manned cashier is open if they have self-checkout kiosks.
The bill would also limit shoppers to a maximum of 15 items at self-service checkouts and require stores to display signs about this limit.
In another recent change, the retailer is said to have banned the use of headphones for employees on the sales floor.
According to a photo on Reddit, a message on a whiteboard in an employee breakroom read, “Everyone, no earbuds period. Stop wearing them.”
It added: “Store leads will periodically come back here to check if anyone has them.”
The notice also warned that employees would be “coached” for a second offense.
Unsurprisingly, the ban was not well-received by employees.
One Reddit user wrote: “I’m a cart pusher and my coach is hounding me every 20 minutes to make sure I’m not wearing them.”
