Cleveland Browns coach delivers Shedeur Sanders clear verdict after his impressive debut performance in preseason game
CLEVELAND BROWNS head coach Kevin Stefanski has given his take on Shedeur Sanders’ role with the Browns after his debut preseason game.
Sanders threw for two touchdowns as the Browns beat the Carolina Panthers 30-10.

The 23-year-old connected with wide receiver Kaden Davis twice in the second quarter to give the Browns a 14-7 lead going into half-time.
His performance seemed to impress head coach Stefanski, who praised Sanders and his linkup with his teammates on offense.
In a post-game interview, Stefanski told reporters: “[I’m] pleased with Shedeur, pleased with the offense,”
“Again, not perfect. Plenty that we can work on.
“But I thought the guys did a really nice job of Shedeur operating, the guys making plays, so again, a ton to teach on.”
Sanders made headlines during the 2025 draft for all the wrong reasons.
After a stellar final year of college football playing for his father Deion’s Colorado Buffaloes team, Sanders was in contention to be a first-round draft pick.
However, it was not until the fifth round, the 144th pick, that the Browns snapped him up.
When asked how Sanders’ performances had affected the QB depth chart, Stefanski remained non-committal…
“We’re really just focused on developing our players. We’re in evaluation mode.

“I’m pleased with where the guys are, but I’m not diving into a quarterback competition.”
Of his performance, Sanders said: “I’m comfortable with being uncomfortable, so that’s what it is.
“I got pockets of finding my rhythm and I got to get into that quicker, regardless of anything.

“But overall, I felt like me out there, and I couldn’t do it, of course, without the time.
“I couldn’t do it without the playcalling. I couldn’t do without anything.”
During Sanders’ draft troubles, his father Deion was undergoing a more grave struggle.
‘Coach Prime’ announced he had undergone treatment for bladder cancer, but has since been declared cancer free and has returned to coaching.
