Brad Pitt’s niece Sydney Pitt broke the news in an emotional Instagram post shared on Wednesday.

“My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier,” she wrote in the caption.

Sydney, who is the daughter of Brad’s brother Doug Pitt, said that Jane Etta “could keep up with all 14 of us grandkids without missing a beat.”

“There was no limit to the love she gave, and everyone who met her felt it.”

FDA issues highest recall alert on popular snack sold across US – and warn of ‘reasonable probability of death’

A POPULAR nut product is being recalled after the Food and Drug Administration classified it as the most severe risk recall category.

The FDA has issued a recall for more than 30,000 pounds of pecan products due to concerns about possible Salmonella contamination.

Navarro Pecan Holdins, LLC, voluntarily recalled exactly 32,670 pounds of the pecan nuts on July 10.

The recalled pecan products were sold in commercial and retail locations across Texas, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Jersey, according to the recall notice.

Internationally, the recalled products were sold in Italy, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates.

The recall risk was labeled as a Class 1 risk by the FDA on August 1.

A Class 1 risk means that there is a “reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

Those who have consumed the contaminated product may run the risk of contracting Salmonella, which affects particularly vulnerable demographic groups, such as children and the elderly.

The Centers for Disease Control reported that Salmonella may cause some people to be hospitalized as the infection can spread from the intestines to other parts of the body.

Those who bought the pecans between May 15 and June 13, 2025, should refrain from consuming them.

Customers and distributors of Navarro Pecan Holdings were notified about the recall via email, fax, letter, press release, phone call, or direct visit.

Since Salmonella bacteria can survive for extended periods, they can cause outbreaks through bulk distribution, which is especially concerning in dry goods like nuts.

As of August 6, no illnesses have been reported due to the bacteria.

Experts encourage anyone who bought a contaminated product to wash down any area where the product may have touched.

That includes washing refrigerators, cutting boards, countertops, and utensils.

The FDA even recommends being cautious when preparing food for your animals.

How to handle product recall

FOOD Safety experts insist that shoppers shouldn't panic if they're affected by a recall, as many are harmless.

However, consumers should take each warning seriously and follow the necessary steps to protect themselves.

Oftentimes, food manufacturers issue recalls as a precautionary measure, so there likely isn’t a foodborne illness hiding in your pantry.

However, even if the recall is merely a precaution, shoppers should always stay safe and not consume the affected items.

Experts advise people to keep a product closed if it hasn’t been opened, and never feed it to a pet or donate it to food banks.

Anyone who has handled or opened an affected item should wash their hands thoroughly with warm water and soap for 20 seconds.

Read the recall closely for specific instructions on how to get rid of the food item.

Typically, the brand will ask consumers to return the recalled product to the store where they purchased it for a full refund.

Sometimes shoppers will also be asked to throw it away so that no one else can eat it.

“People with pets should take special care to avoid cross-contamination when preparing their pet’s food,” the FDA writes.

“Be sure to pick up and thoroughly wash food dishes as soon as pets are done eating.”

Children and elderly individuals should avoid exposure to any pet food that may have been contaminated.

Any customers in possession of the products should discard them and request a full refund from the company.

To prevent cross-contamination, surfaces that the pecans were on should be thoroughly cleaned.

Check the FDA’s website for any change in status.

Shock WhatsApp block bans 6.8 MILLION people from app – exact rules you must never break to avoid same fate

WHATSAPP has revealed its taken down 6.8million accounts in a huge crackdown on serious misuse.

The Meta-owned messaging app said the banned accounts were linked to criminal scam centres targeting people across the world.

Many were tied to forced labour and run by organised crime gangs primarily situated in Southeast Asia, the firm claims.

The 6.8million accounts in question were all banned in the first six months of 2025.

“Based on our investigative insights into the latest enforcement efforts, we proactively detected and took down accounts before scam centers were able to operationalize them,” the social networking giant said.

“These scam centers typically run many scam campaigns at once – from cryptocurrency investments to pyramid schemes.

“There is always a catch and it should be a red flag for everyone: you have to pay upfront to get promised returns or earnings.”

Meta notes one example where it worked with ChatGPT owner OpenAI to disrupt a criminal scam being run out of Cambodia.

These tempted people with cash for liking social media posts to promote a fake rent-a-scooter pyramid scheme.

It comes as a new group messaging safety overview is rolled out to users from today.

This shows users key information when added to a group by someone not in their contacts.

Meta has three tips to help individuals avoid being scammed on WhatsApp.

  • Pause Take time before you respond.
  • Question: Question whether what’s being asked makes sense and whether it’s too good to be true.
  • Verify: If they’re claiming to be a friend or family member, make sure that they are who they say they are by contacting that friend directly.

“It’s positive that WhatsApp has shut down 6.8 million accounts linked to scammers so far this year, but Meta must do much more to stop these criminals across all its platforms,” said Lisa Webb, Which? Consumer Law Expert.

“In 2023 alone, £341 million was lost to authorised push payment fraudsters – over half of those scams were reported as originating on Meta platforms.

“For far too long, Meta has allowed scammers to run rampant across its platforms.

“Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp users are being inundated with fraudulent ads for everything from fake investment opportunities to dodgy products and non-existent job offers.

“Meta needs to ensure that scams are prevented from ever appearing on its platforms in the first place.”

DON'T FALL FOUL OF THE RULES - YOU COULD BE BANNED TOO

Few people realise that they themselves could find their WhatsApp account banned if they break the rules.

And it’s not only being a scammer that could land you in trouble.

Don’t use fake WhatsApp apps

Some people choose to use a WhatsApp ripoff app on Android for different features.

GBWhatsApp and WhatsApp Plus are just two well-known copycat apps.

They still allow you to message your mates through WhatsApp but the app itself looks and feels very different.

However, WhatsApp doesn’t want you using these fakes to access their service.

If experts at the firm detect that you’re using a WhatsApp one of them, your account risks being banned.

Sending too many messages

Chat all day long on WhatsApp if you like but messaging too often and getting on people’s nerves could inadvertently land you in hot water.

This is especially the case if you spam too many groups with nonsense.

If a large volume of people report you it’ll raise the alarm at WhatsApp HQ.

It’s at this point you could have your account restricted.

Spreading hoaxes

We all like a laugh but there are limits – and WhatsApp does not like dangerous hoaxes.

Spreading fake news and hoaxes is against the rules.

If WhatsApp catches you doing this – probably via people reporting you for it – you risk being banned.

Ex-Miami Heat employee charged over selling $2 million worth of stolen memorabilia including LeBron James’ Finals jersey

A FORMER security officer for the Miami Heat, has been accused of stealing millions of dollars in valuable memorabilia.

Marcos Perez is accused of stealing primarily game-worn jerseys stored at the team’s arena.

Perez previously worked as a Miami police officer before retiring and becoming a security officer.

From 2016 to 2021, he worked for the Heat.

He later got a job with the NBA, which continued his access to team facilities.

His job gave him access to an equipment room at the Kaseya Center.

This room contained hundreds of game-worn jerseys and other pieces of Heat memorabilia.

The stolen items were intended to be displayed in a future team museum.

Authorities say Perez stole over 400 items during his long-term heist.

Among the stolen goods were jerseys worn by NBA stars like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Perez allegedly sold these items over a three-year period to various buyers.

This reportedly generated around $2 million in illegal revenue.

Investigators said that Perez frequently sold the items for far less than their true market value.

One of his biggest sales was a James NBA Finals jersey that sold for about $100,000.

That same jersey later sold at a Sotheby’s auction for $3.7 million.

The heist began to unravel when members of the sports memorabilia community grew suspicious.

New rights deal

The NBA signed an 11-year deal with three networks for the league's rights from the 2025-26 season.

And there will be no games on TNT for the first time since the network launched in 1988.

The Walt Disney Company will continue to show the league with 80 regular-season games across ESPN and ABC.

They will also show around 18 playoff games from the first and second round, a Conference Finals series for 10 of the 11 years, and remain the home of the NBA Finals.

NBC will return as an NBA broadcaster for the first time since 2002.

The network will show up to 100 games per season across it’s channels and Peacock streaming service.

It will also be the home of NBA All-Star and show approximately 28 playoff games from the first and second round.

NBC will show one Conference Finals Series for six of the 11 years, rotating with new broadcaster Amazon Prime.

Amazon will show 66 NBA regular-season games including one on Black Friday.

The streaming service is also the home of the latter stages of the NBA Cup and the entire Play-In Tournament.

Prime will also broadcast around one third of the playoff games in the first and second round.

The unusually high number of rare items entering the market was flagged by collectors.

A search warrant executed at Perez’s home uncovered nearly 300 additional stolen items.

These included more jerseys and other valuable pieces of memorabilia.

Perez has been formally charged with transporting and transferring stolen goods across state lines.

He is currently under investigation by the FBI.
