THE Los Angeles Chargers suffered a devastating training camp injury to one of the team’s best players.
Chargers offensive lineman Rashawn Slater’s season is officially over after rupturing his patellar tendon.

During Thursday’s practice, Slater went down with a noncontact injury.
He was doing a blocking rep against linebacker Tuli Tuipulotu when he collapsed.
“That’s just something you don’t want to see,” Tuipulotu said.
“Not only Rashawn, but any of our players.”
Slater instantly grabbed his left leg and training staff rushed over to assist him.
He tried to get to his feet, but couldn’t put any weight on his leg.
Chargers teammates soon surrounded him as he was carted out of practice.
Slater is one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL, and not even two weeks ago he was compensated as such.
He signed a four-year, $114 million deal with the Chargers 11 days ago.
The deal made him the highest-paid lineman in NFL history based on average annual value.
He will make $28.5 million per season, and $92 million of his total contract is guaranteed.
Slater will now undergo surgery to repair his patellar tendon and miss the entire season.
He should be ready to return for the start of 2026.
Fans were devastated to hear the news and shared their thoughts on social media.
“Damn that sucks, I’m not even a Chargers fan. Hate seeing players go down,” one fan said.
