Manchester City have announced the signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves

City were eager for Ait-Nouri’s move to be finalised before Tuesday’s 7pm transfer deadline which will allow him to play in the Club World Cup in the USA this weekend.

His deal is worth an initial £31million, rising to a potential £36.3million.

SunSport understands that City also want AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and Lyon star Rayan Cherki on plane to the US later this week.

Ait-Nouri initially joined Wolves on loan from French side Angers in 2020, before signing permanently in 2021.

The 17-capped Algeria international has scored 12 goals and registered 19 assists in 157 appearances for the Old Gold.

Angers will be due around £9.7m after they negotiated a 50 per cent sell-on clause.

Ait-Nouri was so important to Wolves this season, starting 37 of their 38 Premier League matches, while scoring four goals and providing seven assists.

Three days after celebrating his 24th birthday, Ait-Nouri said: “I am incredibly happy and honoured to have joined Manchester City.

“City are one of the biggest clubs in the world and the chance to play for the club is a dream come true.

“I am also so excited about working with and learning from Pep and his coaching team and getting to train and play alongside such a world class group of players.

“Joining City is also a very proud moment for my family too. Now I can’t wait to get started and to play in front of our supporters.”

City Director of Football Hugo Viana added: “Rayan is a player that as a club we have been following closely for quite some time and we are delighted he has joined us.

“He already has extensive Premier League experience and has also demonstrated his quality at international level with Algeria.

“We feel sure that he will be an excellent addition to our squad and that working alongside Pep and his coaching staff will help develop his game even further.”

Wolves have now lost two of their best players to Manchester clubs, after striker Matheus Cunha joined Man Utd for £62.5million last week.

Old Trafford chiefs actually looked into a move for Ait-Nouri during the last two windows, before signing Patrick Dorgu in January.

‘There’s always someone watching’ – Samuel Iling-Junior out to gatecrash England’s World Cup squad by starring for U21s

SAMUEL ILING-JUNIOR hopes a successful European Championship can springboard him into Aston Villa’s first-team – and World Cup contention.

The versatile wing-back, 21, arrived at Villa Park from Juventus last summer as part of the deal that took Douglas Luiz in the opposite direction.

The starlet left Juventus to join Unai Emery’s Villa last year[/caption]

However, he stayed put in Italy to spend the first half of the campaign on loan at Bologna in Serie A and even scored for them in the Champions League.

Weeks later Iling-Junior, who originally departed Chelsea for Juve in 2020, was back in England and heading to Middlesbrough.

And it was while playing for the Championship club that he decided he wants his future to be at left-back.

Iling-Junior, who is battling with Tino Livramento to start there for England U21s in Thursday’s Euros opening against Czech Republic, said: “I definitely settled into the left-back role and going up and down the pitch [at Boro]. I enjoyed that, bringing my parts into the team with assists, tricks and being creative.

“It’s an honour to be one of the players that the manager has chosen and I want to repay that on the pitch.

“Tino has obviously had that great season with Newcastle. The competition is always healthy. If I can bring out the best of him and he brings out the best of me and we go and win the tournament then it’s happy days.”

Iling-Junior has represented England at every level bar the seniors and has seen several of his team-mates graduate into the Three Lions first-team.

And he knows this month’s tournament in Slovakia could lead to a huge season ahead for him at both club and international level as he revealed his ambitions for the coming 12 months.

He said: “You have to put the World Cup in your sights and knock on that door or at least put myself in a position to be knocking on that door.

“There’s a pathway and there’s always someone watching. All the boys that have made their debut from the U21s and are now in that squad, that just goes to show that if you keep putting your mind to it and work with the coaches then you’ll get repaid for your hard work.

“And definitely get back into Villa after this tournament and have some conversations and make an impact there as well.

“Unai Emery has always had conversations with me, so that helps. and he’s kept track of my loans. So that’s definitely a good relationship and once we get back after the tournament then we’ll have those conversations.

“But, for now, it’s definitely just focusing on the Euros and we’ll see when I get back to Villa.”

Iling-Junior has already tasted Euro joy with England at U19 level and was part of the Juventus side alongside the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Adrien Rabiot that beat Atalanta to lift the Coppa Italia last season.

Samuel Iling-Junior's 2024-25 Middlesbrough season statistics.

He added: “Winning the Coppa Italia, winning a trophy, is one of the best feelings I’ve had.

“Juventus is a big, big club and I learned what winning actually meant there, and not just winning, dominating and that’s a really nice feeling knowing that you’re part of history.

“I enjoyed the pressure there. That gave me motivation each game to go out with a bit of pressure and do what I enjoy. Winning the Euros would definitely be up there with that.”

England kick-off their Euro campaign against the Czech Republic on Thursday.

They then face Slovenia three days later and finish the group stage against Germany on Wednesday 18 June with all of the Young Lions’ matches being broadcast on Channel 4.

Frederick Forsyth dead at 86: Day of the Jackal author and former MI6 agent dies after brief illness

FREDERICK Forsyth, the author of The Day of The Jackal, has died at the age of 86 after a brief illness, his literary agents Curtis Brown said.

The best-selling author was surrounded by his family as he died at home on Monday morning, Curtis Brown added.

The author wrote over 25 books[/caption]

Jonathan Lloyd, his agent, said: “We mourn the passing of one of the world’s greatest thriller writers.

“Only a few weeks ago I sat with him as we watched a new and moving documentary of his life – In My Own Words, to be released later this year on BBC1 – and was reminded of an extraordinary life, well lived.

“After serving as one of the youngest ever RAF pilots, he turned to journalism, using his gift for languages in German, French and Russian to become a foreign correspondent in Biafra.

“Appalled at what he saw and using his experience during a stint as a secret service agent, he wrote his first and perhaps most famous novel, The Day of the Jackal (1972), and instantly became a global bestselling author.

“He went on to write more than 25 books (many of which were made into films) that have sold over 75 million copies.

“He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, all of us at Curtis Brown and of course his millions of fans around the world – though his books will of course live on forever.”

Born in Ashford, Kent in 1938, Frederick flew fighter jets whilst completing his national service before turning to a career in journalism.

After just a short period working at the news agency Reuters, he got his lucky break and was sent to Paris.

It was during this time that he made his name getting the inside scoop following Charles de Gaulle’s assassination.

He then had a brief stint in Germany before moving to the BBC in 1967 where he was sent to Nigeria to cover the Biafran war.

His adventures as a journalist soon became the inspiration for his thriller novels, such as The Odessa File which tells the story of a young German reporter on the hung for a Nazi war criminal.

Here began a sprawling career in fiction writing, seeing Frederick amass numerous accolades and praise for his work along the way.

Over the course of his life, he wrote more than 25 books that have sold a staggering 75 million copies.

Spectacular flats at the perfectly-located Oval Mansions have gone on the market.

And not only do they offer lovely views over South London – but also over the iconic cricket stadium, too, thanks to the dream rooftop terrace.

Two flats have gone on the market in the 1880s building on Kennington Oval – the same road as the venue’s address and built with a curve to replicate the shape of the Oval.

On Rightmove, the cheaper of the two is a £400k one-bedroom, one-bathroom flat.

The other is a two-bedroom apartment costing £600,000.

Both of them have access to the famous terrace which overlooks the pitch.

The outdoor seating is on the east side of the building and features a tiered area on the southern corner.

Sport lovers regularly wheel out the deck chairs and perch themselves on the terrace to watch the day’s play at the Oval, which first staged Test cricket in 1880.

And residents are even allowed to invite guests to join them – although there are strict limits for big England matches.

So much so that during the Ashes, plus ones are restricted to one per flat.

Fans can often be spotted sipping champagne and enjoying slap-up breakfasts and lunches.

TV crews sometimes even rent out flats for big Test matches such as the Ashes.

Phil Tufnell even turned up at the door during the 2023 series.

Department for Transport civil servant Joe Remond has lived at Oval Mansions for two years.

He said: “We made sure we moved in a week before the last Ashes test.

“We’ve seen some great Tests up here. We saw Stuart Broad’s last wicket up here.

“It’s nice to go between the ground and the terrace… it’s a different atmosphere up here – it’s great.

Phil Tufnell came up here and filmed a bit, saying it was the best terrace in the world.

“He got us to do stuff like pretend someone had just got a wicket.

“It was crazy during the Ashes. People were getting to the terrace for 8am to secure a spot.

“One group had a massive cheese fondue, another group had a massive bowl of punch… one guy had a Magnum bottle of wine he was sharing round. It was the best atmosphere.”

New boss Erik ten Hag is said to be a huge fan of Grealish[/caption]

Tottenham, Newcastle, and former club Aston Villa are all among those reportedly interested in the player.

Italian champions Napoli are also strongly linked with the attacking midfielder, as Antonio Conte looks to build a squad that can compete in the Champions League next season.

Now, German giants Bayer Leverkusen are set to enter the race as well, with City wanting around £40million for him.

New manager Erik ten Hag is believed to be a huge admirer of the 29-year-old and has told Leverkusen chiefs he could be the “perfect replacement” for Wirtz.

Wirtz, 22, is set to leave the club this summer with Liverpool red-hot favourites to sign him, despite seeing a £113m bid rejected last week.

It’s likely to leave ex-Manchester United boss Ten Hag with a massive war-chest to spend.

And after landing Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken, he’s planning to use some of the cash to try to tempt Grealish to quit the Premier League.

Sources close to the player say Grealish is attracted by the idea of playing overseas.

He’s keen to make a fresh start and force his way back into the England squad ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

A fairytale move back to boyhood club Villa would also interest Grealish.

But their failure to secure Champions League football could count against them when Grealish makes his decision.

SunSport exclusively revealed how Newcastle were interested in signing the £100m City ace on loan. but would need to pay his full £300,000-a-week wages to complete a deal.

Grealish was told his City career was over after reports emerged saying he would be omitted from Pep Guardiola’s squad for the Club World Cup.

Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel is a big admirer of Grealish, but wants to see him playing week-in-week-out before considering him for his plans.

YouTuber ‘knifed wife while she pushed baby in pram before kicking her as she lay dying after tracking her to refuge’

A YOUTUBER stabbed his wife to death as she pushed their baby in a pram after tracking her to a refuge, a court heard.

Habibur Masum, 26, allegedly launched a “ferocious” knife attack on Kulsuma Akter, 27, after ambushing her in the street.

The YouTuber had followed her to a refuge, jurors heard[/caption]

Jurors heard the mum had fled to Bradford to escape Masum’s “violence, jealousy and controlling behaviour”.

He had allegedly threatened to kill Kulsuma and was subject to bail conditions ordering him to keep away from her.

Despite this, Masum tracked his wife to a hostel where she was staying and tried to lure her out by posing as a GP, it was said.

Bradford Crown Court on April 6, he confronted Kulsuma as she pushed their baby son in a pram.

CCTV played to jurors showed the pair walking together before Masum pulled a knife from his pocket.

Prosecutor Steven Wood KC said: “He grabs Kulsuma and pushes her into a wall, stabbing her to the body.

“You will see that Kulsuma then goes to the ground only for the defendant to launch a ferocious and deadly attack.

“When the defendant had finished stabbing her, as a final act of sheer gratuitous violence, he kicks Kulsuma before moving away, but not before ensuring that he disposed of the knife.”

The court heard Kulsuma suffered multiple stab wounds to her body and face – including a wound to the neck which partly cut her windpipe and severed her left jugular vein.

Mr Wood said: “The (prosecution) say this was cold-blooded, calculated, pre-meditated murder.

“Why would the defendant take a knife with him to meet his estranged wife unless he planned to use it?”

The court heard that by November 2023, the pair had been married for about 18 months.

At first, the relationship was “generally good” but there were some “warning signs”, it was said.

This included Masum threatening to kill Kulsuma, who stayed with family members in July 2023 because of his “controlling behaviour”.

In November that year, he became jealous over a “completely innocuous” message she received from a male colleague, grabbing her face, slapping her and pulling her hair.

Masum told her: “I am going to murder you, and the police will be taking me.”

The next day, after coming home from work, he went into their bedroom carrying a knife and said: “Tell me what your relationship is with him, or I will kill you.”

Jurors heard he then put the weapon to Kulsuma’s throat – leaving her so terrified she thought that the only way to stop him was to keep the baby on her lap.

A female family member who was concerned for the new mum’s safety called police and Masum was arrested that night.

He was later charged with two offences of assault by beating and one offence of making a threat to kill.

The court heard Kulsuma told a social worker she “believed that one day her husband would kill her” and was moved to accommodation in Bradford in January 2024.

Despite being barred from contacting his wife, Masum messaged her saying if she did not return by April 1, he would kill her brothers.

The court heard the refuge called police but the following day, Masum sent a Snapchat video of Bradford station with a message saying he had “come to her town”.

He later sent her a photo of the hostel with a message saying: “I know that you are living in this place. I knew from the first day you moved here.

“If I had any wish to kill you, I could have from the first day. You do not know what you have lost but one day you will understand. Nobody will love you like I do.”

Jurors heard Kulsuma’s social worker arranged for her to be rehoused and she was due to move on April 8.

But in this time, she heard from one of Masum’s relatives that he was in Spain and tragically “felt safe to leave the refuge” on the day she was killed.

After stabbing his wife to death, Masum travelled almost 200 miles to Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and was arrested in a car park near Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

He denies murder but has admitted manslaughter and possession of a knife.

Masum has also pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault, one count of making threats to kill and one charge of stalking.

The trial continues.

Moment McDonald’s worker SLAPS yob across head before brawl breaks out as group storm restaurant & punters cower in fear

THIS is the shocking moment a McDonald’s worker sparks a mass brawl after slapping a hooded youth across his head.

Horrified customers stepped back in fear as several yobs barged their way into the restaurant in Dalston, east London, before attacking the staff member.

The chaos started when the group of youngsters were asked to leave the store by staff.

Footage on social media shows the thugs attempting to force their way into the restaurant by pulling the automatic doors open.

They eventually manage to wedge open the entrance, allowing one of their friends to enter the shop.

He starts to confront one of the workers and gestures at him before knocking his hat off his head, sending it flying across the restaurant.

The McDonald’s staff member retaliates by slapping the teenager across his face and dragging him further inside.

Screams from onlookers can be heard as the rest of his pals storm into the restaurant, shouting and aggressively charging towards the worker.

Filming the ordeal, one girl caught in the crossfire begs onlooking personnel to let her and her friend leave the store.

The pair had been trapped in while staff prevented the gang from re-entering.

McDonald’s confirmed that police had been called in following the brawl, which occurred after the “disruptive” group were asked to leave.

A spokesperson for the US food giant said: “We are aware of the incident involving anti-social behaviour from a group of customers that has been circulating on social media.

“The group were asked to leave the restaurant as they were being disruptive and rude to our people and other customers but forced their way back inside.

“The police were called, and we are supporting them with their enquiries.

“At McDonald’s, we have a zero-tolerance policy for anti-social behaviour, and we expect our staff to be treated with respect and decency at all times.

“We are also reminding our restaurant team of the correct procedures for handling this type of behaviour.”

It comes amid rising anti-social behaviour in the hospitality and retail sector across the country.

A Sun investigation in April revealed the shocking scale of shoplifting at Greggs branches in the UK.

Our reporters watched as brazen thieves targeted certain stores several times every hour.

In one incident, when a shoplifter was confronted, he simply gave the worker a fist bump before strolling out.

Top 5 common mistakes people make when getting a divorce – but there’s a way to avoid spending thousands in legal fees

MISTAKES can be made when getting a divorce, and it can end up costing you a lot of money.

But there are known things to avoid when going through the tricky legal process, and a way to save thousands in the process.

Mistakes can be made when getting a divorce, and it can end up costing you a lot of money[/caption]

It’s never easy to go through the divorce process, and emotions can get in the way.

Bari Weinberger, owner of Weinberger Divorce & Family Law Group in Parsippany, N.J. says: “People making such mistakes often regret it long term, because they can be irreversible.”

So to save yourself time and money, there are five ways to handle your divorce better from a financial perspective.

HEAVY SPENDING

One of the most common mistakes made in the divorce process is to not wait until things are more stable to make big purchases.

Some spouses may use their divorce settlement on something extravagant to make themselves feel better.

Divorcing partners are always advised to postpone big investments until their financial and emotional live stabilize.

If divorce seems likely to be on the horizon, financial flexibility is your greatest ally.

On top of this, expensive burdens like a new house can greatly complicate diving the assets during the divorce process.

HIDDEN ASSET MANAGEMENT

A common and sneaky tactic in divorces is to hide assets in advance so they don’t get put on the dividing table.

This could be done by giving them over to friends or relatives until the divorce is made final.

It can be even harder to find hidden assets if couples keep part or all of their finances separate.

It might sound extreme, but using a forensic accountant or even a private investigator could help you uncover hidden assets you could be entitled to.

It is also suggested that if you file for divorce first, you are placing yourself in a better position to negotiate terms that require an even division of assets discovered.

COSTLY EMOTIONS

Emotional battles over things like child custody can inflate the divorce tab.

Kanye 'needs an NDA' if he divorces Bianca: Family lawyer

The U.S. Sun spoke to family trial lawyer Holly Davis who explained the need for an NDA ... and why Biana should ask for more than $5 million:

“There are some behaviors that a wife can no longer condone. There are some controlling patterns that a wife may no longer accept.

“It appears that Bianca Censori has finally reached her limit with Kanye, a period of time many have predicted would come earlier than today.

“If Kanye cares about avoiding public embarrassment, which he may not, he will want to negotiate an NDA with Bianca to avoid an expose into some of the more darker parts of their story, including any possible criminal activity.

“Given Kanye’s current attitude towards free speech, it would be fascinating to see if he believed it applied to divorce proceedings, and in favor of his wife.

“I highly doubt that Bianca will stick to any verbal agreement for $5M, which seems like a low figure for what she managed during the marriage.

“The only enforceable contracts are written ones, so if they did have a verbal agreement that benefits Kanye, he should be on his best behavior in the divorce to ensure she doesn’t change her mind.

“Any attorney she hires or speaks with will assess her case to determine if the $5 million figure is too high or low.

If it’s high, they should settle. If it’s too low, she should change her mind on that agreement in light of receiving legal advice.

“That’s why people and celebrities should hire lawyers before discussions on ultimate terms with your spouse, you might accidentally agree to a lower number than what you deserve before you knew any better.

“Kanye will always find some lawyer to represent him, but whether this lawyer will remain on the case will be the issue.

“Most of the time, lawyers learn that Kanye does not follow their legal advice, putting them in a precarious position.

“He will likely be representing himself, whether he has a lawyer or not, because he cannot put his impulsivity and opinions second to legal advice.”

Maggie Kim, a musician and writer of “Divorce or Die,” a Substack newsletter, had to undergo a divorce that took seven years to complete.

She says: “Emotions were the biggest reason that my divorce and custody fight took seven years.”

To save yourself this, Kim advises you to lean on those around you for emotional support.

This way, the divorce process can become more logistical and you can remain on your best form.

MISHANDLING ASSETS

Illiquid assets can often make up a large portion of a divorce settlement.

This includes things such as stock options and real estate, and it can be hard to turn them into cash without losing value.

Going back to financial flexibility, being liquid means you have more freedom to negotiate and more cash to spend if you have to.

One thing you can do is take into account liquidity constraints when deciding how the marital assets are divided.

There could be a case where illiquid assets may constitute too big a chunk of a couple’s assets for one spouse to give up any claim to them.

To work around this negotiating a structured payout can mean you don’t have to be able to give the cash upfront right away as you liquidate assets to get the money together.

POST-DIVORCE EXPENSES

Finally, once the divorce process is completed, failing into the trap of underestimating your expenses can prove costly.

If you’re accustomed to living on two incomes, paying for things on your own could prove a shock.

Basic utilities and grocery shopping, for example, provide all these little costs you might not have had to worry about before.

Or if you have join-custody of your child, being able to pay child support is one thing.

But actually having money to spend on your kids when they visit is another thing.

To get around this, it is recommended that divorced spouses  create realistic cash-flow projections and closely monitor discretionary outlays.

It’s basic things, if you’re struggling to meet your rent every month, getting rid of that pricey subscription is a serious possibility uou should condiser.

Induvial financial planning is often daunting, but especially after a lengthy divorce process, it can be vital.

Weird Al Yankovic shares new photo of rarely-seen daughter Nina, 22, as he celebrates her college graduation

WEIRD Al Yankovic has shared a sweet photo of himself and his rarely-seen daughter, Nina, 22, as they celebrate her college graduation.

The 65-year-old singing comedian and entertainer doesn’t often post recent photos of his family, instead choosing to share throwbacks of when Nina was much younger.

The 22-year-old, a talented artist, looked happy, clutching a bunch of flowers, her certificate and a pink lei, as her beaming dad stood proudly next to her.

Wearing a dark graduation gown over a short white dress, Nina accessorized with a pair of unusual hand-shaped earrings and some chunky gold jewellery.

Al, meanwhile, sported his trademark long, dark curly hair, which he covered up partially with a sunhat.

Dressed up for the special occasion, the ‘Another One Rides the Bus’ singer wore a long-sleeve blue shirt and dark trousers.

Sharing the snap with his one million followers, he wrote: “My daughter Nina graduated from college today. Sorry, this is the most recent picture I could find of her.”

Yankovic famously doesn’t ever share up to date photos of Nina, instead focusing on flashbacks from when she was a little girl.

While some of his fans got his quirky joke, other people were left confused.

However, the majority of users were simply happy for the family and rushed to share their congratulations.

One person wrote in the comments: “I’m crying laughing at this caption. We don’t deserve you, Al. Congrats, Nina!!!”
