Unique mini truck previously banned from US roads is set to return to another state – it’s only $63 to make street legal

A TINY Japanese truck once banned from roads across America is on the brink of a comeback in yet another state.

The retro ride, known for its compact size and oddball appeal, could soon hit the streets.

Oregon is considering a bill that would legalize Kei cars, a category of micro-sized vehicles made in Japan and South Korea.

Oregon’s Senate Bill 1213 has been introduced, outlining the potential legalization of kei cars in the state and what legally qualifies as road ready.

A vehicle must be 25 years or older, measure no longer than 11 feet, and have an engine no bigger than 660 cc.

The vehicle must also be under 4.9 feet wide and shorter than 6.6 feet tall.

If SB1213 becomes law, kei owners will pay $63 every two years to keep their minitrucks registered.

The $63 fee is more than that of moped and motorcycles, which is $44, but matches costs for low- and medium-speed vehicles.

Still, drivers will face restrictions on where they can take their trucks.

Under the bill, Kei trucks can’t be driven on highways with speed limits above 65mph, given the vehicles limited power and size.

If caught ignoring the restriction, drivers will face a fine of up to $1,000.

Since being introduced, the bill has gained traction and bipartisan support, according to Motor1.

The move comes after years of backlash from drivers who were told these lightweight trucks were unsafe.

Despite their age, Kei trucks were banned in several states, even though other vintage cars without airbags or ABS were still legal.

Oregon lawmakers are saying it’s time to rethink the rules.

“Small businesses, farmers, and Oregonians across our state are asking for practical, cost-effective transportation options,” said State Senator Anthony Broadman.

Where are Kei trucks banned?

Kei trucks, also known as compact Japanese mini trucks, have been banned from certain US states.

The below states have banned the importation of mini trucks due to being “mechanically unfit” for American roads as they aren’t compliant with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

  • Georgia
  • Pennsylvania
  • New York
  • Maine
  • Rhode Island

“Kei trucks are nimble, fuel-efficient, and ideal for navigating rural roads, job sites, and tight urban corridors.”

Broadman, a Democrat, introduced the bill with Republican Senator David Brock Smith.

Republican Representative Emily McIntire and Democratic Representative Hai Pham are backing the bipartisan bill in the House as well.

While enthusiasts cheer the comeback, the law only allows models that meet the 25-year import rule, meaning newer Kei trucks are still banned under federal law.

Earlier this month, Texas passed Senate Bill 1816 as it joined 28 other states that allow the Kei truck on public roads.

Kei vehicles were first introduced in Japan to serve crowded cities like Tokyo, where narrow streets demand compact design.

Unlike other states, the Texas law took effect immediately.

This means the Kei truck has been given a head start over places like Colorado, where similar rules won’t kick in until 2027.

Kei trucks are banned from being imported in several US states, GeorgiaPennsylvaniaNew York, and Maine.

Sly and the Family Stone formed as a funk band in San Francisco in 1966.

The group would go on to be pivotal in the development of not only funk music, but also soul, R&B, rock, and psychedelic tunes up until they disbanded in 1983.

During their 20 years as a band, Sly and the Family Stone included two of Sly’s actual siblings, his brother Freddie Stone, sister and singer/keyboardist Rose Stone.

They created huge hits like Dance to the Music, Everyday People and Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).

However, his substance abuse and concerning behavior heavily impacted the group, which split up for a final time in the 1980s.

Sly, who’s full name is Sylvester Stewart, was born in Denton, Texas, in 1943.

His family soon moved to Northern California, where the youngster began singing in his church choir alongside his siblings from the age of 4.

The star got his nickname, Sly, from elementary school classmates who misspelled his name.

He began performing as a kid, often labeled as a child protégé, and in high school, he was joined by his siblings as the group began to take performing more seriously.

They released their debut album, A Whole New Thing, in 1967.

Dance to the Music, their first hit single, was also released that same year.

Brazilian beauty queen was ‘shot dead by hitman who got a tattoo on his hand of her face on fire’

A BRAZILIAN beauty queen was shot dead by a hitman who got a heinous tattoo of her burned face on his hand.

Bruna Zucco Segatin, 21, was tragically found dead alongside her 30-year-old boyfriend Valdir de Brito Feitosa in the back of a burned out pick-up truck in 2018.

The unnamed killer was seized on June 7 after seven years on the run, in Altonia, Brazil.

Bruna’s face was tragically disfigured by flames after the truck was set on fire, which the suspect appeared to have heinously inked on him.

A shocking police photo of the suspected killer shows the alleged sick memento tattooed on his left hand.

Police chief Reginaldo Caetano said: “The tattoo on the suspect depicts a woman with part of her face on fire.

“Bruna’s body was located burned and charred in the back of a pick-up truck.”

Cops believe that Bruna’s boyfriend Valdir was the main target, and the former Miss Altonia just happened to be with him.

Officers say they seized the gunman after linking the alleged killings to local drugs and contraband trafficking rivals.

The tattoo was found after the suspect was arrested on Saturday.

Investigators said he was hired to go to Altonia to commit the horrific killing – but the target was Valdir.

In the arrest operation, three other men were also cuffed with one of them identified as the mastermind, local media reports.

Cops say that important evidence was destroyed in the fire where the bodies of Bruna and Valdir were found.

A few days ago, a glamorous bodybuilder was found dead in a swimming pool while on holiday, sparking a police probe.

Luz María Barrera Agatón died in the early hours of Sunday morning while holidaying with her family, before loved ones found her tragic corpse.

The beauty influencer was staying at the Coco Resort & Villas Hotel with family and friends in Motul, west of Cancun, Mexico.

She had been chatting with them around the cenote-style pool before they made their way to bed at around midnight.

Luz was left alone before she was later seen floating lifeless in the hotel pool.

The tragic athlete was retrieved from the water and emergency services were called immediately.

Paramedics rushed to the scene but could do nothing to save the young woman’s life.

The horror crash occurred near Point Loma, a peninsula in San Diego that juts into the Pacific.

Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the plane was a twin-engine Cessna 414 carrying six people.

The FAA said the plane took off from San Diego and was heading back to Phoenix, Arizona.

The aircraft had reportedly flown to California just a day earlier.

It went down around 12:30 pm on Sunday, according to officials.

Search crews discovered a debris field about five miles offshore later that same day but continued to search for survivors.

According to The New York Times, the FAA said that no one survived the crash.

So far, none of the six victims have been publicly identified.

The pilot made a haunting final call to air traffic controllers before the crash.

He said he was struggling to maintain his heading and climb as the aircraft turned toward the shore twice before going back out to sea.

The plane was just 1,000 feet above the water when the controller urged the pilot to climb to 4,000 feet, KTAR reported.

“A debris field has been located, but I do not currently have the size of it,” Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Graves told NBC local affiliate KNSD.

The water in that area is roughly 200 feet deep, according to the Coast Guard.

FAA records list the owner as Optimal Health Systems, a supplement company based in Pima, Arizona.

US on edge over 'cluster' of plane crashes

A series of devastating plane crashes, including the mid-air collision above DC that killed 67, has left Americans terrified of traveling by air.

However, aviation expert and attorney Jason Matzus told The U.S. Sun the crashes can be attributed to “random clustering.”

“While these events are tragic, the likely explanation is simply ‘random clustering,’ which occurs when multiple crashes occur over a short period, warping our general perception and causing us to think that there is an increasing trend in plane crashes,” Matzus said.

“When in reality these crashes, despite being so close together, are merely coincidental and not caused by a systemic safety issue.”

The short period Matzus referred to was just a matter of three weeks. The aviation mishaps included:

January 29 – A military helicopter and American Airlines plane collided at the Washington DC airport, killing 67 people

January 31 – An air ambulance carrying a 6-year-old girl and her mom crashed on a street in Philadelphia, killing seven people in total

February 5 – A Japan Airlines flight hit a parked Delta plane at Seattle SeaTac Airport and no one was injured

February 6 – A small commuter plane on its way to Nome, Alaska, crashed killing all 10 people on board

February 10 – Motley Crue singer Vince Neil’s private jet collided with another plane, killing the pilot and injuring four others

February 17 – A Delta plane crashed on the runway at Toronto Pearson International Airport, miraculously killing no one but injuring 21

February 19Two planes collided at Marana Airport in Arizona, killing two people

February 24Smoke filled a Delta Airlines flight cabin forcing passengers to evacuate by a slide after making an emergency landing in Atlanta

March 9 – A Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft crashed into a retirement village parking lot in Manheim, Pennsylvania

March 13 – An American Airlines jet engine erupted into flames at the Denver airport, forcing passengers to escape onto the plane’s wing

But the company said it sold the plane to private buyers last year.

The FAA database could be out of date, the company said in a statement.

Doug Grant, the company’s founder, said he personally knew several of the passengers on board.

“Our sincerest condolences are offered to those affected by the tragedy,” Grant said.

The FAA directed questions about ownership to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The NTSB has not yet commented further on the investigation.

Earlier in May,  a private jet carrying a music star and a talent agent exploded into a fireball after crashing in a San Diego neighborhood.

Six people died in that high-impact crash that claimed the life of Six people died in that high-impact smash that claimed the life of rocker Daniel Williams, 39, and his agent, Dave Shapiro, 42.

Starbucks confirms major change coming to over 6,500 locations – and fans fear it’s a ‘potential omen in the US’

STARBUCKS has confirmed a major change coming to over 6,500 of its locations.

Fans in the US think the overseas changes could make their way over here.

Coffee competition is growing for Starbucks, and in China, the chain is making major moves to combat this.

The coffee giant has announced that it is lowering the prices of its items in the country.

Its part of Starbucks‘ strategy to draw in more customers and beat its rivals.

A source close to Starbucks, who requested anonymity, said: “Starbucks likely has a longer-term strategy, which is to focus on the demand for non-coffee items in the afternoon among consumers.”

Starbucks is set to lower the prices of some of its iced drinks by an average of of 5 yuan, which equates to $0.70.

Some drinks will be priced as low as 23 yuan, which comes to $3.20.

This might sound low, but rivals in China have often beaten Starbucks when it comes to price.

Chains like Luckin Coffee and Cotti price their drinks as low as 9.9 yuan or even 8.8 yuan, which comes to $1.38 and $1.24.

Starbucks has a lot riding on the Chinese market, given how invested it is over there.

The market is by far Starbucks‘ largest outside of the US with 7,685 stores as of the end of last year.

Starbucks has previously stated that it would not engage in a price war, but it seems that time is over.

HOT COMPETITION

The rate of competition threatening Starbucks in China is massive, especially given the rise of a new name, Mixue Bingcheng.

In March, The US Sun reported on the rise of the bubble tea emporium, and how it is giving major brands a reason to be worried.

Mixue Bingcheng, which translates to honey snow ice city, over 45,000 spots worldwide, with nearly 90% of those in China.

That month, it became the world’s largest food and beverage chain “by number of stores”.

Mixue is known for its prices, as it sells soft serve for just 1 yuan, or 15 cents, per cone and bubble tea.

Drinks only cost between 30 cents to $1.20.

The company was founded by Zhang Hongchao in 1997.

He was born into a poor family and has a simple strategy: “Let people around the world eat well and drink well for just two American dollars,” he previously told Chinese state media.

Mixue’s unique business model, given that it’s revenue mostly comes from the sale of ingredients including milk, coffee and syrups, and equipment, acts as a threat to a company like Starbucks.

This is because Starbucks runs the majority of its stores directly, so Mixue’s comparative unification gives it a strong advantage.

Kenny Ng Lai-yin, a strategist at Everbright Securities International, said: “As market capacity can be uncertain in the [fresh-drinks] industry, the fact that Mixue can sell raw materials to its own franchisees and have a clear understanding of their demand gives it a lot of agency compared to others.”

The quarterback had a close relationship with his dad, Harrison Wilson III.

And he took to social networking site Instagram to tell how his death still affects him every day.

The 36-year-old added a photo of his father smiling along with the post.

“15 Years Ago we lost you,” said Wilson.

“We miss you every day Dad.

“Keep shining down on me. Love you!

“Still can see your smile today.”

Wilson’s father tragically died on 9 June 2010.

He suffered complications from diabetes aged just 55.

It came just one day after his son was picked in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB Draft.

He was picked by the Colorado Rockies at the time, but turned down the chance, to play college football instead.

“(My dad dying) was one of the hardest days of my life,” Wilson told the Denver Post in the past.

“It was the highest of highs next to the lowest of lows, all in 24 hours.

“And how the Colorado Rockies organization took hold of me, took care of me was incredible.

He played in the minor league system, before heading back to play college ball.

“When [my dad] passed away, I remember the next morning hearing like, ‘The sun still comes up in the morning’, he said.

Kanye West changes his name again in new legal documents four years after declaring himself ‘Ye

Kanye West has changed his name for the second time in recent years, according to new legal documents obtained by The U.S. Sun

The disgraced Kanye, 48, officially changed his name to “Ye” in 2021 after filing papers in Los Angeles court, but now has seemingly changed his mind again.

On new business documents filed by his chief financial officer Hussain Lalani with the State of California, it states that his new name is now “Ye Ye”.

The double Ye is different from other papers which had been previously filed, as his official title was “Ye West.”

This has come to light when his core businesses filed a “Statement of Information” with California’s Secretary of State, which gives the most up-to-date details for a business such as the office address, officers, directors and the type of industry.

One of his main firms, Ox Paha Inc, which has filed hundreds of trademarks on behalf of Ye, now calls him “Ye Ye” on official docs.

His clothing company Yeezy Apparel and music businesses, Yeezy Record Label LLC and Getting Out Our Dreams Inc, have also followed suit.

He has yet to publicly announce his new name on social media.

Meanwhile, as The U.S. Sun previously reported, Kanye’s wife Bianca Censori recently filed papers to start her own business.

She registered Bianca Censori Inc. last month in California, and also registered her full name as an Australian firm based in Alphington, a Melbourne suburb.

NEW HEADQUARTERS

In the case of Ox Paha Inc, Yeezy Record Label LLC and Getting Out Our Dreams Inc, the business headquarters has changed from a church in Northridge, Los Angeles, which burnt down in October after being left vacant by Kanye.

Their headquarters is now listed as the office building he purchased for $6.7 million in March 2023 on trendy Melrose Ave. The building was bought by his firm Ox Paha, according to records.

It has also been left to rot in the last couple of years.

In March, police were called when a swastika was painted on the side of the building in the aftermath of vile antisemitic comments he’d made on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Kanye has been particularly prickly about being called his birth name recently – walking out on an interview with Piers Morgan because he dared to call him Kanye.

He recently took to X to reiterate that his name is Ye seemingly after the altercation with the British TV presenter last month.

Piers explained the incident on Instagram saying: “I interviewed Kanye West again today.

“As I expected, given what I’ve said about him recently, it didn’t last long or go well.

“This was him right before he stomped off like a big baby before I could ask him why he’s become a vile, Hitler-loving, Nazi-slathering, anti-Semitic pr**k.”

When a Ye fan site pointed out on X that “Piers Morgan calling him ‘Kanye West’ is exactly why Ye left the interview,” Piers responded: “His X account name is @kanyewest”.

On June 1, Ye went onto X and fumed: “Ima finally stop using the @kanyewest twitter cause my name is Ye… Gonna start a ye account and it is what it is.”
