Full October bonus payment schedule revealed as $1,000 checks shrink for Americans

THE full schedule of October payments worth $1,000 from an annual program has officially been revealed, with Americans set to get their checks in just days.

The money, set to soon be distributed from a longstanding program launched in the 1970s, marks a notable cut from last year’s $1,702 amount.

The federal government handed out three rounds of stimulus checks worth up to $1,200, $600, and $1,400 during the pandemic, with over 476 million payments totaling $814 distributed, per Pandemic Oversight.

Although such economic impact payments are a thing of the past, there are several state-run programs handing out cash that functions similarly to the stimulus checks from the pandemic.

For example, Alaskans benefit from the Permanent Fund Dividend, or PFD, a program launched in 1980 by the state legislature to help manage and share profits from Alaska’s oil and natural resources with residents.

Checks from the fund began going out annually to qualifying residents beginning in 1982, with the very first checks being $1,000, and the most recent ones, handed out from the 2024 PFD, worth $1,702.

That amount has been reduced by $702 this year, with the 2025 PFD standing at $1,000, according to Alaska’s Department of Revenue.

The deadline to apply for this year’s PFD amount was on March 31, so Alaskans who missed the window will have to wait until next year to file.

Alaska PFD vs stimulus

The PFD payment is a bit different than the stimulus check Americans received during the pandemic.

The PFD is made to residents of a specific region from the earnings of a permanent or sovereign wealth fund.

Alaska has a sovereign wealth fund called the Alaska Permanent Fund, established in 1976.

It is funded mainly through the revenue produced from Alaska’s oil and gas reserves.

Every year, part of the funds are distributed to Alaskan residents as dividends.

Payments for the 2025 PFD will be distributed on three upcoming dates to those who applied on time and meet the eligibility requirements.

The first round of checks will go out on October 2, 2025, to those who filed their applications online and selected direct deposit as their preferred payment method.

Alaskans who completed paper applications or opted to receive a paper check in the mail will receive their 2025 PFD payment on October 23.

The last round of checks will go out on November 20 to any remaining eligible applicants, regardless of how they filed.

Roughly 600,000 Alaskans receive money from the state’s fund each year, with eligibility criteria on factors like residency and felony charges in place in order to benefit from the program.

CASH GRAB

Aside from Alaska, several other states are shelling out checks to provide a financial boost to their residents.

For example, more than 8.2 million New Yorkers are receiving inflation refund payments worth up to $400 under the state’s budget deal.

The cash, to be used as recipients please, will automatically be sent to eligible individuals, New York Governor Kathy Hochul revealed in May.

Still waiting for a check?

If you still have not received your 2024 PFD payment, there are several steps you can take to ensure you get the money you are owed.

  • Visit the state’s Department of Revenue PFD website and use the “myPFD” tool to verify application status
  • Checking if your application is in the “Eligible – Not Paid” status or if you still need to complete your application
  • Ensure your mailing and physical address, phone numbers, and email are accurate, and update this information through the online portal if there are any errors and you filed electronically
  • For those who opted for direct deposit but have yet to receive their payment, check with your bank to see if the money was deposited into a different account or if the deposit was rejected for any reason
  • If the scheduled payment date for your application has already passed and you have not been sent your PFD money, you can get in touch with the PFD division by visiting one of their offices, mailing documents, calling, or emailing dor.pfd.info@alaska.gov

“It’s simple – this is your money and we’re putting it back in your pockets,” the governor said in the press release, sending out the checks in response to New York’s increased revenue from sales tax thanks to inflation.

In Montana, the state’s Property Tax Rebate is handing out up to $400 in property tax relief to qualifying residents.

The check amount is based on the property taxes homeowners paid on their primary Montana residence in 2024.

The state has received more than 197,000 applications as of September 18, with the final deadline to apply being on October 1, 2025.

Number of Recipients by Region

Approximately 8.2 million New Yorkers will receive checks.

  • New York City: 3.53 million
  • Long Island: 1.25 million
  • Mid-Hudson: 924,000
  • Western New York: 585,000
  • Finger Lakes: 513,000
  • Capital Region: 475,000
  • Central New York: 321,000
  • Southern Tier: 251,000
  • Mohawk Valley: 198,000
  • North Country: 156,000

Meanwhile, Americans in Illinois can get their hands on an energy bill credit worth $300 by attending a short educational workshop on October 2.

The energy company Ameren will host its Community Development Workshop from 9 am to 4 pm at the Carbondale Civic Center located at 200 South Illinois Avenue.

The event will feature on-site energy advisors, a brief educational clean energy workshop, and a $300 energy bill credit for those who have an active Ameren Illinois electric or gas account and meet the income limits.

Participants are being asked to bring and Ameren Illinois bill, photo identification, and proof of income for the past 30 days to qualify for the payment.

Check out these other payment opportunities to see if you can get your hands on some free cash.

Amazon’s historic $2.5 billion settlement is handing out checks.

Plus, Americans “bearing the brunt of increasing energy costs” can get $500 from a relief program – it’s first come, first served.

Brawls force Target to slap strict limit policy on popular kids’ toy

TARGET has been forced to limit how many trading cards shoppers can buy at once after widespread brawls and product shortages.

An eagle-eyed customer spotted a sign that Target had put up to ensure that everyone gets a fair opportunity to buy the cards.

Previously, both Target and Costco were forced to speak out over a shortage of Pokémon cards at their stores.

Shoppers have also pleaded with Dollar General in the past for a limit to be put in place on how many Pokémon cards shoppers can buy.

In Target‘s latest measure, a sign has been placed up that reads: “There is a limit of 2 units per item for all Trading Cards and Trading Card Accessories.”

But shoppers questioned this on Reddit because the post was accompanied by a picture of the shelves that showed Target had Pokémon cards in stock.

One person wrote: “You have Pokémon cards in your store? We haven’t had any in months.”

Others theorized that the picture posted online was taken right after a restock, and that it didn’t reflect a typical stock count.

Pokémon itself came out in support of a product limit policy on its website back in May, with an update to its Terms and Services.

The company said: “You may only purchase products from the Site or through the Services for personal use by either yourself or your intended recipient of the products.

“We may place a limit on the quantities that may be purchased per order, per account, per credit card, per person, or per household.

“We reserve the right, without prior notice, to refuse service to any customer or reject any order at any time and refund any money you have paid for such order.”

Pokémon specifically is enjoying a swell of attention in recent months, thanks to the release of the app Pokémon TCG Pocket.

SHOPPER STORIES

Shoppers have shared their stories of being affected by the toy shortages at major retailers.

In the Dollar General case, a shopper shared that at their local store, one customer drove two and a half hours and purchased all 36 tins that were on the shelves.

The parent said that his child had saved up their allowance to buy a tin, but was unable to.

He urged Dollar General to put a limit of three tins per shopper in place.

The US Sun reached out to Dollar General at the time, but did not hear back.

The same issue was reported at a Walmart, where a customer showed the shelves left in ruin after a brawl to buy up the remaining cards.

The shelves were not tidied up, and the entire toy section was left in disrepair.

The day before this complaint was posted to social media, another Walmart shopper called out the company for its toy limit policies.

Other major names like McDonald’s drew attention after putting Pokémon cards in its Happy Meals boxes.

But diners later reported that these cards were being upsold on marketplace sites like eBay.

Reese Witherspoon stuns fans as she reveals real name – and even Jennifer Aniston asks ‘who’s that?’

REESE Witherspoon has shocked fans by revealing that Reese Witherspoon is not her real name.

The beloved actress and film producer, 49, has gone by the name ‘Reese Witherspoon‘ throughout the entire of her professional career.

“Reese” found Jennifer’s reaction to be hilarious[/caption]

Even when she landed her first major film feature as Dani Trant in The Man in the Moon at just the age of 14, she was still credited as Reese.

So when fans heard her say in a recent interview with LADbible Entertainment that it isn’t actually her name at all, they were left stunned.

“Reese” was chatting to LADBible in their segment called Do You Even Know Me? which is designed to supposedly test the friendship of two celebs.

Friends actress Jennifer Aniston, 56, appeared alongside her – and even she was shocked by the name revelation.

The revelation came out when the segment’s host prepared a question for Reese to ask Jennifer: What was her middle name?

“What is my middle name,” she said.

“A. Jane, B. Jeanne or C. Joan.”

Jennifer hesitated for only a moment, casting her eyes up to the ceiling before looking to Reese and saying, “A”.

“Jane?,” Reese replied. “It’s Jeanne.”

Jennifer sounded disappointed as well as confused.

“Jeanne?,” she said.

“I’m Laura Jeanne, that’s my real name,” responded Reese.

“Laura Jeanne?,” Jennifer echoed, looking at Reese in shock as she rocked a black blazer, a matching dark skirt, and a lacy black top.

“That’s my real name, yeah,” Reese confirmed, giggling at Jennifer’s confused look in her simple khaki green long sleeve and gray skirt.

“Laura?,” Jennifer asked one more time.

“Laura Jeanne,” giggled Reese again.

“Who’s Laura?,” Jennifer said to the camera, scrunching up her face in a mixture of confusion and laughter.

“Who the hell’s Laura?

“Wait Laura Jeanne, I’m not calling you that from now on.

“Come on, Laura Jeanne. Wait where did Reese come from?”.

It’s a question a number of fans were wondering, too.

“It’s my middle name,” Reese explained. “Laura-Jeanne Reese.”

“What made you go with Reese for your acting name?,” Jennifer questioned, becoming like an interviewer on the show.

“I didn’t change it, my name is just always Reese,” she said, remarking on how she was often called that anyway.

Jennifer then went on to reveal her middle name is Joanna, to which Reese aka “Laura Jeanne” said, “I was today years old” when I learned that.

Fans took to the comments section of the video to share their shock about the name change, as well as laugh at how hilarious Jennifer’s reaction to Reese’s real name was.

“Jen’s reaction to Laura Jeanne is priceless. It’s like shoe couldn’t believe it,” said one user.

“No but really who is Laura Jeanne,” “Who’s Laura?,” and “funniest duo,” commented others.

Reese Witherspoon is best known for her roles in Legally Blonde, critically-acclaimed Walk the Line, and the dark comedy Cruel Intentions.

She’s been taking home awards since 2006 including Academy Awards, BAFTAs, Teen Choice Awards, and Golden Globes.

She’s set to feature on a new series of The Morning Show alongside Jennifer.
