DONALD Trump got a rocky start ahead of his address at the United Nations, as his escalator abruptly stopped the moment he and First Lady Melania stepped on.
Trump accused the global organization of being useless after he was forced to trudge up the stairs and give a speech with a broken teleprompter.

He was walking through the headquarters in New York City and smiling at reporters as they fired off questions when the technical troubles started.
Melania, wearing a white suit and white heels, walked in front of her husband and got onto the escalator after he put his hand on her back.
But just seconds after getting on it came to a stop, leading the first lady to tightly grip the railing and turn around to see what was going on.
After taking a beat, the first lady and the president trudged up the stagnant stairs while an empty escalator just inches away ran smoothly.
At the top of the stairs, Trump was greeted by a woman, and the first thing he said to her was, “Your escalator just broke.”
Minutes later, when the president took the stage to give an address to diplomats and world leaders, he was stunned to learn that his teleprompter wasn’t working.
In his speech, Trump accused the UN of merely sending “strongly worded” letters to countries in conflict instead of negotiating peace.
He went on to blast the organization, saying, “All I got from the United Nations was an escalator that on the way up stopped right in the middle.
“If the first lady wasn’t in great shape, she would’ve fallen.”
