Katie shared a candid video speaking openly about her mental state whilst she battles trying to be ‘positive’ during these hard times.
The TV personality, who got engaged to comedian Jeff Arcuri just last September, took to social media with the sad news.
She began: “Tomorrow is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I’m, like, totally crashing out if I’m being so for real.
“I was very much looking forward to the end of the year, kind of being my final push and then it’s smooth sailing, you know like treatment’s working, things are good.”
Katie went on to reveal that she’s even having to postpone her surgery – It was only last month when she revealed she had a double mastectomy scheduled for November.
She continued: “Instead it’s like I’m hurting my liver, I’m lowering my dose of medication, I’ve postponed my surgery, which I haven’t even talked about yet.
“Jeff’s gone so that’s like a whole other layer,” she added.
“I don’t know what I’m even saying, guys. I just want to be so honest. I know I seem positive sometimes but it’s very hard to be positive,” she said ending the video.
The TV personality also shared how her health struggles have affected her relationship with fans also.
She uploaded a screenshot of her Instagram channel broadcast on her stories, which is a way users can communicate with their followers.
She had simply sent the message: “No great. Too sad to type much. Just thought I’d share for now in case anyone has helpful feedback.”
Katie had also previously revealed that her breast cancer had progressed to stage 4 after spreading to her liver.
And back in April, she had told fans that she had cancelled her chemotherapy just ‘minutes’ before her first session.
She shared that her plans for the treatment were called off following a phone call from her doctor with encouraging test results.
She wrote: “Update: today I was supposed to start chemo. I had my cold cap, my cold socks, snacks, blankets, medications, entertainment ready.
“However, yesterday I got the call that my pathology results on my liver, breast, and lymph nodes all came back as HER2 Negative even though my original samples as Kaiser were HER2+.
She added: “Sounds like chemo is off the table now. I should be excited about that. But in two months, I’ve continued to get an updated diagnosis three times.
“I think thoroughness and getting a second medical opinion has been instrumental in my early cancer stage journey.”
