The newly-built home of the San Francisco 49ers will host the Super Bowl for the second time.
Last time was Super Bowl 50, when Coldplay was joined by Beyonce and Bruno Mars on stage.
And this time the honor has gone to the three-time Grammy winner.
Jon Barker, SVP of global event production for the NFL, said: “We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment.”
And Oliver Schusser, the vice-president of Apple Music and Beats, added: “His music has not only broken records but has elevated Latin music to the center of pop-culture and we are thrilled to once again partner with the NFL and Roc Nation to deliver this historic performance to millions of fans worldwide.
“We know this show will be unforgettable.”
Last year’s halftime show was performed by Kendrick Lamar, as the rap superstar took center stage at halftime of the Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bad Bunny’s big Superbowl news comes after the star enjoyed a historic Puerto Rico residency.
It drew more than 500,000 fans and is leading all nominees at the Latin Grammys in November.
The star has actually excluded the US from his forthcoming world tour for fears that his fans would be subjected to immigration raids.
He said: “There was the issue of – like, f****** Ice could be outside [my concert].
“And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” the star told i-D earlier this month.
Born on March 10, 1994, Bad Bunny was born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio in Puerto Rico.
Following the success of his many reggaetón, pop, and crossover releases from 2016 onwards, Bad Bunny saw his stardom cross from the Latin charts into the mainstream.
He has collaborated with artists including J Balvin, Ozuna, Farruko, El Alfa, Arcángel, and Daddy Yankee.
He’s also made guest appearances on songs by Drake, Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and Will Smith.
While speaking to Rolling Stone, the musician described himself as being a wallflower, though he developed a reputation at school for coming up with creative raps.
He was raised in the Catholic church and knew from a young age he wanted to be a singer, so he would sing in his church’s choir.
Bad Bunny has released five studio albums.
They are X 100pre (2018), YHLQMDLG (2020), El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo (2020), Un Verano Sin Ti (2022), and Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana (2023).
He has also released a joint album with J Balvin in 2019 titled Oasis.
