On April 30, the Pirates hosted the Chicago Cubs when fan Kavan Markwood plunged 21 feet over the right-field wall.

A video showed him flipping in the air before landing on the ground.

Markwood was treated for about five minutes before being carted away to a nearby hospital.

He was left with a broken back, neck, and fractured ribs.

“I don’t know how I’m alive,” Markwood told Inside Edition during Monday’s episode.

“I wake up with pain every day.

“Still got my arm, I can’t feel my two fingers still.”

“I’m doing better than I was, that is for sure.”

Markwood wore a cast on his arm during the interview.

The incident left both teams’ players stunned by what had happened.

Pirates veteran Andrew McCutchen covered his mouth and took a knee.

Markwood told Inside Edition that the fall came after he jumped out of his seat in reaction to a play.

He was 20 years old at the time of the accident and admitted that his friend bought him beers during the game.

Markwood denied in the interview that alcohol was a factor in the situation, calling it a “tragic accident.”

His friend, 21-year-old Ethan Kirkwood, was charged with two misdemeanor charges after supplying alcohol to a minor before his fall.

Police previously shared that security footage from PNC Park showed Kirkwood buying two 24-ounce Miller Lite beers just before the game’s first pitch.

The footage also showed Kirkwood bringing the drinks to his friend group, which included Markwood.

Both Kirkwood and Markwood were spotted with the berrs in their hands in the footage.

More footage showed Kirkwood returning to the bar and returning with two more beers.

Less than an hour later, Markwood fell over the railing in the seventh inning.
