BASEBALL fans have been left disgusted after a shocking incident occurred during a New York Mets game.
As the Mets took on the Miami Marlins at Citi Field two fans were seen involved in a scuffle in the stands.
This turned out to be a Mets fan STEALING a souvenir from a fellow supporter.
In a viral clip, an elderly fan is seen desperately trying to keep hold of a ball that went out for a home run.
However, a fan in a white T-shirt and hat is seen ripping the ball away from him.
The fan then returns to his seat in the row behind as the crowd look on in disgust.
The elderly man from whom he snatched it is seen holding his hand out asking for the ball back, before the ball-stealing fan is seen refusing to return it.
Quite remarkably, the fan did not appear to be even a little bit apologetic.
Instead, he had a beaming smile and was celebrating getting the ball.
Reacting on social media, fans shared their outrage at the brazen incident.
One fan said: “I don’t get how you would feel so proud of possessing that ball (or cap) after doing something like this?
“I mean are people really that materialistic that that ball will bring him happiness? It’s so strange these grown men living vicariously through a ball (or cap)…”
A second said: “Is catching a ball that important as an adult?”
Another said: “Another creep.”
A fourth added: “I’m sure the dude feels like such a big man taking the baseball from an old guy. Fool needs to grow the F up!”
A fifth said: “Don’t EVER act like this at a ball game! PLEASE! What a jerk. Glad they got him on camera.”
The Marlins ultimately won the series against the Mets 3-1.
