Beloved discount retailer opening 60 more locations months after scooping up 45 Joann stores

A POPULAR budget retailer is rolling out 60 new locations after snapping up 45 Joann stores.

The US Sun recently reported how hundreds of Joann stores have been closing down over the past several months.

Burlington announced it is opening 60 new stores across 26 states, next month[/caption]

The huge shutdown provided a nice opportunity for incoming retailers to take over the spaces.

And, Retail Dive revealed Burlington took on 45 of Joann’s expiring leases.

These locations can be found in major US states such as California and Texas.

Analysts from the investment bank Evercore said: “Our recent conversations with real estate contacts suggest very little new shopping center growth is planned in the US for the foreseeable future — meaning chains with high store growth ambitions, like [Burlington], will need to be aggressively going after locations from retail bankruptcies along the way.”

Burlington is doing just that, as it opened 101 net new stores in 2024 and relocated 31 older, oversized locations.

In its fourth quarter of 2024, net sales rose 4.8% year over year to almost $3.3 billion.

Meanwhile, Burlington’s net income increased 14.6% to $260.8 million.

The retailed already has more than 1,100 stores in the U.S., covering nearly every state.

Burlington announced it is opening 60 new stores across 26 states, as well as three in Puerto Rico, next month.

Three already welcomed customers last week in New Jersey, New York, and Texas.
