The show follows single dad, Beef, who does his best to keep his weird bunch of kids close.
His children are called Wolf, Ham, Judy, and Moon.
“He is sometimes overbearing and smothering, but his deep love for his family is a central theme in each episode in the series,” the synopsis reads.
In a statement confirming the shows cancelation, the show’s director Aimee Steinberger said that she was “pretty sad” about the axe.
She said on social media, “Sadly we got the news today that The Great North is officially canceled.”
She went on, “I’m pretty sad about it.
“It’s one of a very small number of shows I’ve worked on that I genuinely loved and I really loved the whole talented crew I worked with.
“I feel lucky to have been there.”
But not all hope has been lost, as Aimee teased a potential comeback for the show in the future.
“It’s always possible! Futurama came back like 3 times,” she teased.
Fans have reacted to the sad news on social media.
One person on Reddit said, “Big shame.”
Another added, “Nooooooo. This hurts my soul. I love this show so much.”
A third wrote, “Well that stinks. Was such a fun show, and paired great with Bob’s Burgers.”
Other fans predicted a possible show crossover and way it might comeback.
“Possible for a Bob’s Burgers/The Great North Crossover?” asked one person.
“That would be amazing. I think Bob would love how rugged Beef is and want to learn outdoors stuff from him,” one person replied.
Another then speculated over a different station or streamer picking it up, “Never giving up.
“Waiting for Hulu or anywhere.”
