Beloved grocery chain hailed as ‘better than Whole Foods’ confirms it’s adding 6 new locations

A GROCERY chain has confirmed that it will be adding six new stores to its lineup across multiple states, including New York, Florida and Connecticut.

Trader Joe’s announced the six new stores on September 2 and has committed to enriching the local neighborhoods it opens in.

The company’s Neighborhood Shares program sees Trader Joe’s donate all of its unsold items to non-profits in the store’s local area.

According to the company’s website, in 2024, Trader Joe’s donated more than 98 million pounds of products to food banks and charities.

Trader Joe’s has announced the next six locations that will feel that benefit through the new stores.

The new locations are coming to Columbia, South Carolina, Costa Mesa, California, Hamden, Connecticut, Melbourne, Florida, Williamsville, New York, Kingwood, Texas and Lacey, Washington.

These stores have not been given opening dates yet.

Trader Joe’s has promised to update shoppers with new information.

The grocery chain did open several stores in the summer, including in Yucaipa, California and New Orleans, Louisiana, last month.

The Yucaipa store was opened on August 21, and the New Orleans one was opened on August 14.

Other stores that opened during the summer include one in Westminster, Colorado, on July 25, Northridge, California, on July 21, and Rockville, Maryland, on June 12.

FALLING TOO QUICKLY

But as Trader Joe’s announced and opened new stores over the summer, it also caught heat for moving into the fall season too quickly.

On social media, a content creator recently showed off some of the best finds on the Trader Joe’s shelves.

But some of the autumnal items received criticism for being put on the shelves in the summer.

The items were Trader Joe’s Pumpkin and Pancake Waffle Mix and Maple Leaf Cookies.

One TikToker urged the company to slow down on the pumpkin spice.

They wrote: “People slow down[,] we’re not even in August.”
