A BELOVED retailer has announced that a brand new location which is set to open and it will be the first in the area.
The store that fans say is “better than Walmart” is set to offer locals a range of services and products.

Fred Meyer has earmarked a 155,000-square-foot plot in Caldwell, Idaho, for its new location.
It will be the retailer’s first location in the city and its eighth in Treasure Valley.
Executives at the company have revealed what locals can look forward to once construction is complete.
There will be a range of products available across different departments from fresh food and groceries to electronics and homeware.
As well as that, locals can look forward to a fuel center and a drive-up pharmacy.
Attached to the store will also be a Starbucks, Fred Meyer Jewelers and Murray’s Cheese.
It may even concern rivals like Walmart, which also has a location in Caldwell, as Fred Meyer fans praise the chain.
“People on the west coast kept saying how Fred Meyer is better than Walmart and Target, and I’m finally visiting a Fred Meyer and wow I can agree that this store is way better,” one shopper wrote on X.
And Fred Meyer President Todd Kammeyer has teased how the new location will be even better than the chain’s other stores.
“We are incredibly excited to bring a Fred Meyer store to the Caldwell community,” he said in a press release.
“This store will feature our newest modern designs and a shopping experience that we know our customers will love.
“Our goal is to serve the community with quality products and exceptional service, and we look forward to becoming a trusted partner in Caldwell’s growth.”
Meanwhile, locals have shared their excitement following the announcement on Facebook.
“Fantastic news. Great for the community!,” one resident wrote.
The new addition to Caldwell is set to boost the local economy, bringing with it around 250 new jobs.
“News like this is always great to hear!” another local said.
“That is awesome,” a third wrote as others added that they would be signing up immediately for jobs with the chain.
The Kroger-owned company plans to open the site in late 2026 or early 2027, per the Boise Dev.
“The opening of Fred Meyer marks an exciting new chapter for Caldwell,” Caldwell Mayor Jarom Wagoner said.
“This store isn’t just about groceries, it’s about jobs, convenience, and growth.
“It brings new opportunities for our residents, supports local suppliers, and strengthens our city’s economic foundation.
“We’re proud to welcome Fred Meyer to Caldwell and look forward to the many ways it will serve our community.”
Meanwhile, another popular supermarket chain has announced it is also expanding its operational footprint as part of a 225-location plan.
