On the social media, many Reddit users have come out against the new Best Buy policy that allows third party sellers online.
This means that the Best Buy website will feature products not sold by Best Buy itself, but instead unknown parties not affiliated with the store.
Historically, buying from third party sellers is riskier because you don’t know who you are buying your item from.
The caption of the Reddit thread said: “Get ready to be scammed!!!”
That sentiment was reflected in the comments of the thread, too.
One furious shopper spewed: “Absolutely despise this decision. It’s the primary reason I NEVER shop Walmart online. It confuses the purchasing process…
“And a measly 15 day return window for 3rd party sellers?! Can’t see this going well for shoppers.”
Another wrote: “I cannot over-emphasize how much I absolutely hate this news.
“I hate third-party sellers. I do not want to buy from one. I just want to buy products from the retailer.”
However, there were some who defended the move from Best Buy, denying claims the website would be turned into an open marketplace.
The US Sun has reached out to Best Buy for comment, but did not hear back right away.
FRAUD ACCUSATION
A shopper at Best Buy recently launched a complaint against the company after they were accused of fraud.
It happened after they received the wrong order and was then denied help from the corporate team.
The shopper said on X: “Ordered $12,000 in camera gear, got a $300 lens instead of $3,000.
“Returned wrong lens (tracking confirms), but no replacement or refund.
“Stores confirmed my evidence, but corporate denies help. Best Buy has essentially accused me of fraud.
“@BestBuy @BestBuySupport reached out for details but after I gave them the order number and personal contact information, they DM me ‘waiting on inventory’.
“I saw the inventory yesterday after driving for an hour to another store. They would not let me have it.”
The shopper’s efforts to retrieve their correct item were thwarted, and it is not known if the situation was solved.
The US Sun did reach out to Best Buy for further comment after the store requested more information from the shopper, but did not hear back.
