Big3’s Rachel DeMita let go after Caitlin Clark social media post while covering Ice Cube’s basketball league

RACHEL DEMITA was fired by the BIG3 after posting about Caitlin Clark during a game.

The sideline reporter, 35, confirmed her departure in a post on X.

Caitlin Clark has emerged as one of the United States’ biggest sports stars[/caption]

DeMita had been with the league since for a year but will no longer appear on their broadcasts.

BIG3 chiefs were unhappy with DeMita posting a Clark highlight on X.

Alongside a clip of the Indiana Fever superstar landing a three from deep, DeMita wrote, “for those two questioned the hype..”

The broadcaster has since posted a video to social media, lifting the lid on her firing.

She revealed that BIG3 bosses were “dismayed and disappointed” by her social media activity.

Undeterred, DeMita added that she would “take [the firing] on the chin”.

The BIG3 previously tried to recruit Clark.

It’s claimed that the league offered the WNBA star $10 million across two seasons to participate.

Clark refused, however, opting to focus on the Fever.

BIG3 co-founder Ice Cube, 56, told the Dan Patrick Show at the time, “We believe her coming into the Big3 would be such a big deal that all boats would rise and the league would benefit from the attention.

“And plus, we were going to do cool stuff with merch and there was even talk about a percentage in team ownership.”

DeMita is engaged to former NBA star Andre Roberson.

The former Oklahoma City Thunder star, 33, now plays in France.

He was last in the NBA in 2021, when he briefly played for the Brooklyn Nets.

Clark, meanwhile, was involved in a controversial incident during a game between the Fever and the Connecticut Sun earlier this week.

The superstar guard received a technical after being poked in the eye and pushed by Jacy Sheldon, and viciously shoved to the floor by Marina Mabrey.

Incredibly, Mabrey was not ejected for her role in the incident.

Although WNBA chiefs have since admitted their mistake by handing her a retrospective flagrant-2 foul.

Sheldon and Clark’s team-mate Sophie Cunningham were both ejected in the fourth quarter following another bust-up.
