The video shows the moment tragedy struck.

Marcelo is seen falling from the sky before making a sudden turn.

Seconds later, he crash lands into the ground.

The 46-year-old married father-of-one had been skydiving in Boituva, São Paulo in Brazil on August 29.

After the violent landing, he was rushed to hospital.

Tragically he could not be saved.

It remains unclear why the experienced jumper made the last minute direction change.

It is believed he may have lost grip on one of the parachute handles.

Marcelo had celebrated his birthday just days before the crash.

A lawyer and managing partner at a São Paulo law firm, Marcelo was a seasoned thrill-seeker.

He had a Category D licence and had done more than 2000 jumps.

Close friend Douglas Gomes said “He was obsessed with skydiving and took part in every competition he could”.

“Adrenaline, freedom – that was Marcelo,” he added.

“He was always there for friends, through both happy and difficult times.”

An outpouring of tributes has flowed for the bodybuilding enthusiast.

Marcelo is survived by a wife and daughter.

An investigation into his shock death continues as investigators confirm his equipment was in perfect working order.

His death comes just days after a Russian mother slipped to her death following a successful bungee jump.
