Brit star forced to cancel US shows over ‘credible’ death threats days after Charlie Kirk assassination

A BRITISH music icon has been forced to cancel two American shows following “credible” threats to his life.

Morrissey, former front-man of The Smiths, was booked to perform for adoring fans at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut on Friday, and then again the following day at MGM Music Hall in Boston.

However, both shows have since been cancelled due to “credible threats on Morrisey’s life”.

In a statement posted to social media platform Facebook, the star said “Due to recent events and out of an abundance of caution for both the artist and band, the upcoming shows this weekend at Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall have been cancelled”.

“All tickets will be refunded automatically at your original point of purchase,” the post went on.

The short-notice cancellations have come after authorities arrested 26-year-old Canadian Noah Castellano, who alleged posted a deadly threat against the singer.

Castellano made the alleged threats on the social media platform BlueSky on September 4, ahead of Morrissey’s appearance at the CityFolk Festival in Ottawa.

The post allegedly said “Steven Patrick Morrissey when you perform TD Place here in Ottawa next week … I will be present at the venue in the audience”.

“I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally,” the post continued.

The post, which referred to the singer by his full government name, was shared from an account named “guy who gets shot in the head one hundred thousand time a day”.

Castellano was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The cancellations come just days after Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a public appearance.
