Caitlin Clark fights back tears as Indiana Fever star suffers fresh injury blow and faces anxious wait

CAITLIN Clark couldn’t control her emotions after suffering yet another injury setback during the Indiana Fever’s win on Tuesday.

The WNBA star was spotted fighting back tears during a late-game sequence.

The Fever beat the Connecticut Sun 85-77, but Clark wasn’t in great spirits towards the end of the contest.

The two-time All-Star appeared to re-aggravate a groin injury she had just recently recovered from.

Clark made a pass to teammate Kelsey Mitchell before injuring herself.

The 23-year-old walked gingerly before sitting on the bench.

Clark then put a towel over her head as she was teary-eyed.

The 2024 Rookie of the Year had missed four games due to the groin injury.

Clark missed 10 games combined this season due to injuries before returning to the team last week.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Fever said that Clark’s availability is “questionable” due to a “right groin” injury versus the Sun.

Indiana is taking on the New York Liberty on Wednesday night.

After Tuesday’s game, Fever coach Stephanie White said the team will take it “one step at a time” as they evaluate Clark’s injury severity.

“I think we just take it one step at a time,” White said, via ESPN.

“We’ll get some food and get on the plane and start talking about New York.

‘She’s being evaluated; we’ll see where we are with that. And certainly, we’ll have another evaluation, probably, and conversation in the morning, see where we are.

“But this group has played without her. At least we’ve got experience in that.

‘We know that we have a tough opponent in New York.

“We know that it’s going to be a challenge, no matter what, and we’ve just got to get locked in and ready to compete.”

Clark recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and five turnovers in the Tuesday game.

The Iowa Hawkeyes product also turned heads with another outburst at WNBA officials, as she wasn’t pleased with not getting some foul calls.

It’s not known whether Clark will be healthy enough to participate in Friday’s 3-point shooting contest and Saturday’s WNBA All-Star game.
