Pittsburgh Steelers send letter to fans after Mason Rudolph’s appearance alongside Donald Trump causes outcry

THE Pittsburgh Steelers have sent a letter to fans after a backlash last week.

Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph appeared on stage with President Donald Trump.

And that led to angry complaints from some of the fan base.

Pennsylvania is a swing state in the US presidential election.

The state has plenty of democratic supporters as well as republican backers of Trump.

And the Steelers organization has close ties with the democratic party.

Their late chairman Dan Rooney was appointed the US Ambassador to Ireland by President Barack Obama.

That led to some of their fan base being left annoyed at Rudolph’s appearance with President Trump.

The quarterback was on stage with the President at a rally related to steel tariffs in Pennsylvania last week.

The Steelers told their fans, “We understand that a recent rally in Pittsburgh has generated a range of reactions from our fan base.

“Our alumni and current players make their own individual decisions that reflect their views.

“And they do not necessarily represent the view of the entire Pittsburgh Steelers organization.

“Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

“We appreciate your passion and your continued support of the team.”

President Trump was at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana in February.

He became the first sitting President in history to attend the NFL showpiece.

And he was mostly cheered by fans in the stadium when he flashed up on the big screen at the Superdome.

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 to win Super Bowl LIX.

They were invited to the White House to meet the President, as is tradition for US sporting champions.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts was among the players to skip the event.

Trump said, “We’re thrilled to welcome everyone to the White House – special place – and to celebrate Super Bowl LIX champions the Philadelphia Eagles.

“The Eagles have turned out to be an incredible team and incredible group with a fantastic coach and coaches.

“Two years ago the Eagles came incredibly close to football immortality and Super Bowl LVII, you remember that game.

“But after a hard fought game you suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs by just three points, it looked like you had the game.”

Nissan CEO reveals desperate bid to ‘transform’ brand as he admits failure and cries ‘we have to fix ourselves’

NISSAN’S CEO, Ivan Espinosa, has revealed his plans to revive the struggling auto company.

Despite admitting the company’s shortcomings, Espinosa also said he’s focusing on “fixing” the problems at hand to keep the company afloat.

The CEO mentioned that while Nissan works to regain its footing among other giant automakers in the industry, his immediate goal is to focus on the present issue.

“I think in the short term, the focus that we have is to fix ourselves,” Espinosa told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Europe.”

“We are convinced that the plan is enough and robust,” he continued.

Espinosa took over for the company’s former CEO, Makota Uchida, after a long-awaited merger with Honda fell through.

The companies had signed a memorandum of understanding to explore a potential business integration, but disagreements, particularly over the structure of the merger, caused it to fall apart.

While the merger talks ended, both companies stated they would continue to collaborate on electric vehicles and smart car technologies.

The deal was valued at $58 billion, which could have helped Nissan rise through this rough period.

“The size of the task is big,” Espinosa said on Wednesday.

“Our landing was not good in 2024, and thus we have a transformation that has to come. But this is a problem that did not start like two years ago, it’s a fundamental problem that we’re fixing.”

“If you take a step back, eight to 10 years ago, the company had very lofty goals for growth,” he added.

Last month, Nissan’s CEO revealed that the company had expected a 3% drop in sales volume for the current fiscal year, as reported by CNBC.

This comes after the CEO announced significant changes to its production and workforce.

The car manufacturer estimates a roughly $5 billion loss.

The auto manufacturer said it would be axing nearly 15% of its global workforce after a steep decline in vehicle sales, as reported by The Associated Press.

New Nissan and Infiniti lineup

Nissan announced it will be introducing several new models:

  • Nissan LEAF (third generation)
  • Nissan Rogue (fourth generation)
  • Nissan EV
  • Nissan INFINITI FX
  • Nissan INFINITI QX65

This means about 20,000 employees will be affected by the changes.

Nissan also announced that it would reduce the number of its auto plants to boost performance and build a company that can adapt to the uncertainty of the automotive industry.

There will only be 10 operating auto facilities instead of the former 17.

Still, the automaker has plans to expand its electric vehicle collection to keep up with frontrunners in the EV revolution.

“We are re-sizing the company and this is why we have accelerated our efforts on cost, both fixed cost [and] viable cost,” Espinosa assured.

“So, we have very deep initiatives under our new Re:Nissan plan and we’re devoted to it.”

Trader Joe’s just brought back its cheesy cult classic snack – and shoppers are losing their minds

Trader Joe’s has just brought back a cheesy cult snack, and people are going wild.

The grocery store chain is once again selling its Green Goddess Gouda, but you’ll have to be quick.

On the website it states that it’ll be available for a “limited time” only.

The cheese was created when Trader Joe’s partnered with a cheese maker in New York to make a variety with a “distinct, green-herby character.”

The shop wanted it to “justify its Green Goddess Gouda name” – and it appears to have been a hit.

When social media user Trader Joe’s list found the tasty treat back in stores and featured it on their page, many shoppers were overjoyed.

One wrote: “OMG GREEN GODDESS CHEESE IS THE BEST!!! I’m so glad it’s back!”

Another added: “IS THE GREEN GODDESS GOUDA BACK?!?”

And a third commented: “my favorite.”

The Trader Joe’s website states: “This Gouda is actually a blend of two goudas; one milder, and one that’s aged and a bit sharper.

“The smooth, flavorful cheese base is blended with a pesto (created separately) that includes olive oil, avocado oil, onion powder, and several dried alliums and herbs, such as minced garlic, scallions, chives, basil, and parsley.

“The result is a herbalicious, smooth & nutty cheese that very tasty on its own.

“It also melts quite well, so you can put our Green Goddess Gouda on your panini, your burger, or even in your mac and cheese!”

The origins of the green goddess date back to 1923, according to Trader Joe’s.

They claim a hotel chef in San Francisco wanted to pay tribute to an actor friend who was starring in a play by William Archer called “The Green Goddess.”

He made a “creamy, green-tinted salad dressing”, which Trader Joe’s picked up on with their own version.

They then created a Green Goddess Dip, before expanding this to the cheese.
