Cyclists from more than 20 clubs featured in an individual race at the junior event.

The action was coming to an end in routine fashion as a rider dressed in orange cruised to victory.

But as he lifted his arms up prematurely in celebration, he began to wobble.

The bike began to shake and the youngster then lost control as the wheel appeared to fall off.

He tumbled to the floor and skidded across the road just metres from the finish line.

The two riders behind managed to avoid him and the former clinched a shock win.

But their rival set to take home bronze could not get out the way and he was wiped out in a crash.

The horror scenes saw him thrown down the track and his bike did backflips all the way across the finish.

While he sat on the road in disbelief, his leg were beyond the all-important finish line.

But a little-known rule states riders must have their hands on the handlebars at all times, meaning he was out the contest.

Fans reacted to the chaotic race ending, saying: “There is a lesson to be learned here.”

Another added: “This is why stay low-key until it’s done.”

A third wrote: “Only hurt was the embarrassment.”

The new body will work with the LA 2028 organizing committee, local, state and federal authorities.

It also involves Vice President JD Vance – who will take charge of daily planning.

And Trump insisted he is ready to call on the military if needed.

“This is going to be so safe,” he said Tuesday.

“We’ll do anything necessary to keep the Olympics safe, including using our National Guard or military.”

Military personnel have been used by previous host nations.

The Olympics in Los Angeles follow the US hosting the 2026 World Cup.

Los Angeles dealt with unrest in recent months after protests over immigration raids.

But Trump insists the Games will be a special occasion.

The President said, “The LA Olympics is shaping up to be a wonderful moment for America.

“It’s going to be incredible.”

Trump has been actively involved in sports events since taking office for a second time in January.

He became the first sitting President ever to attend a Super Bowl in February.

Trump attended Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans, Louisiana.

That game saw a massive security operation including FBI personnel, National Guard troops and Secret Service.

Security was heightened given Trump’s presence but also in the wake of a terror attack in New Orleans.

Fourteen people were killed in the early hours of New Year’s Day after a driver rammed his truck into crowds on Bourbon Street.

Around 2,000 law enforcement personnel were deployed to the Super Bowl this year.

More than 120,000 visitors landed in New Orleans, Louisiana for the game.

And they were greeted with a huge security presence, which included armored SWAT vehicles and rooftop snipers.
