It is currently unclear what exactly caused the tragic crash.

Emergency services are understood to have rushed to the scene to help injured people following the horrifying ordeal.

Hot air ballooning is a popular activity for tourists in central Turkey.

The region is home to attractions such as the “fairy chimneys” in Cappadocia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Terrifying footage shared by the Ilhas News Agency showed the deflated balloon descending from the skies, with its passenger basket lying sideways.

Emergency services could also be seen nearby, tending to injured people.

It comes as the latest in a string of recent aviation disasters.

On Thursday, Air India Flight AI171 smashed into a doctors’ hostel in Ahmedabad, killing at least 279 people.

The London Gatwick-bound Boeng Dreamliner was seen on video descending less than a minute after take off, before blowing up into a horrifying fireball.

And on Sunday, seven people including a toddler died after a helicopter carrying Hindu pilgrims from a shrine crashed in the Himalayas.

The chopper reportedly crashed within just minutes of taking off on Sunday, during what was supposed to be a 10-minute flight.

At least 7 dead in India helicopter crash as chopper carrying pilgrims goes down days after Air India disaster

SEVEN people including a toddler have died after a helicopter carrying Hindu pilgrims from a shrine crashed in the Himalayas.

The horror accident in India‘s northern state of Uttarakhand comes just three days after the deadly Air India disaster in Ahmedabad, which killed at least 279 people.

The chopper reportedly crashed within just minutes of taking off on Sunday, during what was supposed to be a 10-minute flight.

The pilot and all six passengers were killed after the helicopter plummeted down during their flight from Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand state, according to local authorities.

They were on their way to Guptkashi, a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site in the Himalayas.

Footage of the aftermath showed smoke rising from the site of the crash while rescue workers surrounded the chopper.

All of the seven bodies were badly burned in the fire which raged on after the initial smash.

State chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said rescue teams had been sent to the scene following the “very sad news“.

The local tourism official said that the tragic crash was likely caused by bad weather conditions.

The chopper was operated by private helicopter service Aryan Aviation.

It descended and crashed in a forested area several miles from the Kedarnath pilgrimage route at around 5.30am local time.

Horrifying images showed smoke billowing up from the ruins of the crashed chopper.

Rescue teams worked together on the scene, in front of the burning pile of destroyed helicopter parts.

Tens of thousands of pilgrims visit Kedarnath every summer.

It is home to one of the four most sacred Hindu temple shrines.

Travelling by helicopter there is common due to the challenging mountainous terrain.

It comes just days after Air India’s London Gatwick-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner smashed into a doctor’s hostel in Ahmedabad, India.

Some 241 passengers and crew are believed to have been killed – leaving a miracle sole survivor – and 28 people on the ground also died.

Full video of the crash shows the plane heading down the runway before lifting into the air.

After barely 30 seconds the plane appears to dip and goes begins an agonising descent back to the ground.

It then exploded in a fireball as it crashed into the nearby doctors’ hostel.

Investigations are still ongoing into the cause of the crash – with at least one of the black boxes recovered from the wreck.

Both pilot Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and co-pilot Clive Kunder and believed to be among the dead.

Mr Sabharwal, who had 8,200 hours of experience, while his colleague Mr Kunder had 1,100 hours.

The sole survivor of the crash – Vishwash Ramesh – could also provide key clues as to what happened to the plane.

He said cabin lights began flickering before the jet sank through the air and crashed.

Recalling the moments before tragedy, Vishwash, from Leicester, said: “When the flight took off, within five to 10 seconds it felt like it was stuck in the air.

“Suddenly, the lights started flickering – green and white.

“The aircraft wasn’t gaining altitude and was just gliding before it suddenly slammed into a building and exploded.”

And although the main goal is to raise money for charity, it can often get really competitive.

But what is the prize that some of the world’s biggest names are battling for?

What do the winners of Soccer Aid get?

The winners of Soccer Aid are presented with a medal each and get the chance to lift the famous title.

There is no prize money as the sole purpose of the annual match is to raise money for charity as well as entertain its spectators.

Who is the Soccer Aid top goal scorer?

SOCCER AID is all about entertainment while raising money for charity – but celebrities thrive off hitting the back of the net and they’ll get the chance to do it once again TONIGHT!

Premier League legends Teddy Sheringham and Alan Shearer have proved that they haven’t lost their touch by bagging their fair share of goals during Soccer Aid matches.

Ex-Tottenham trio Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov have also got on the score sheet on a couple of occasions themselves.

But shockingly, the top scorer in Soccer Aid is NOT a former professional footballer.

Who is the top scorer in Soccer Aid history?

Kem Cetinay – five goals

Ex-Love Islander Kem Cetinay is the top goal scorer in Soccer Aid history.

Kem has bagged five goals in four Soccer Aid appearances after breaking the record in 2023.

Kem – who plays for the World XI – got his goal tally underway in 2019 in the 2-2 draw.

He scored again after the game went to penalties, but goals scored in a shootout do not count in the overall tally.

In 2020, Kem again blasted home a penalty in the shootout to hand victory to the World XI again.

In 2021, he scored twice in the 3-1 victory over England, and he added another goal in 2022, while again scoring from the spot during penalties.

In 2023, his 80th minute goal sealed a 4-2 win for the World XI, and took his tally to five.

The social media star’s mum confirmed the footie fan used to sleep in his football boots as a child, which explains his gifted technical ability.

Clarence Seedorf – four goals

Clarence Seedorf holds the record for the second-highest Soccer Aid scorer.

The Dutch footballer has hit the back of the net four times.

However, he is the only star to have bagged a hat-trick.

Seedorf achieved this during the 4-2 win over England in 2014.

He bagged his fourth goal for the World XI in 2018.

Robbie Keane – four goals

Robbie Keane is tied for second in the standings with four strikes.

The Irish player first scored for the World XI in the 3-3 draw in 2018 – along with Seedorf.

He bagged his second in 2020, before getting a brace in 2023.

Here are the current standings ahead of the 2025 match:

  • Kem Cetinay (World XI) – 5
  • Clarence Seedorf (World XI) – 4
  • Robbie Keane (World XI) – 4
  • Teddy Sheringham (England) – 3
