EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick makes a last-gasp bid to clean up his act after disabled slur scandal and BBC suspension
EASTENDERS star Jamie Borthwick is set to save his BBC career after “sincerely apologising” for his behaviour and making a last-gasp bid to clean up his act.
The star accepted the “karma that has come my way” after his sickening disabled slur led to his suspension.

He is booked in for high-level talks with corporation bosses and there is a growing belief he could eventually continue in his role as Jay Brown in Albert Square.
It comes after the 30-year-old was suspended following The Sun on Sunday’s revelation last weekend that he blurted out the hurtful term “m********s” while on the Strictly Come Dancing set.
Jamie used the offensive phrase to pour scorn on Blackpool, which is seen as the jewel in each series of the BBC‘s prime-time family show.
As part of his bid to save his acting career, he this week sent a heartfelt message to a former partner, conceding it was “not clear” if he’d be returning to EastEnders.
But he told how the circumstances had given him time to reflect on “decisions that have led me here”.
Jamie said: “I accept the karma that has come my way due to some bad choices.”
He went on to say he is “attempting to right the wrongs in my life”, and “want to sincerely apologise for the mistakes I made and for hurting you and how I handled the whole situation”.
And he added: “Had I the opportunity to turn the clock back I would do so and do everything differently.”
The Sun told how Jamie issued the vile video while standing alongside GoCompare opera singer Wynne Evans.
The duo were in Blackpool for week nine of the Strictly TV series show in November last year when Jamie sent the obscene footage to a pal.
The EastEnders star, who joined the soap in 2006, said in a public apology: “I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused.
“It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning. That is on me completely. Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong.
“When I made the video, I was excited and caught up in the moment. Again, that is no excuse. But my regrettable actions are not a true reflection of my views, or who I am.
“I enjoyed every minute of my time in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and the town itself.
“The people of Blackpool have always been amazing with the Strictly crew, dancers and cast members. I know they will be again for this year’s show and those in years to come. I am truly sorry.”
The BBC said his language was “entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect”.
Disability charity Scope said Borthwick should reflect on what he said and educate himself. “We hope he takes the opportunity to get to know the reality of disabled people’s lives,” said the organisation’s media manager Warren Kirwan.
In April, The Sun told how Jamie and Wynne were rapped by BBC bosses for sharing a backstage joke over a sex toy video when the Strictly tour was in Birmingham.
A source told us last night: “Jamie has been reaching out to people off his own back and trying to sort his life out once and for all. He is genuinely remorseful. He’s a young man with his acting career stretching out ahead of him.
“He will be forced to stay at home for a while and acknowledge his misdemeanours. A lesson is being learned. But it’s good news for fans that there is a good chance that we haven’t seen the last of Jamie in Albert Square.”

Brad Pitt rocks a very bold blue outfit as he heads out for another date night with girlfriend Ines de Ramon
BRAD Pitt has debuted yet another quirky look — this time while out on a cosy dinner date with girlfriend Ines de Ramon in New York.
The 61-year-old two-time Oscar winner, currently promoting his new racing film F1, was spotted hand-in-hand with Ines, 32, as the couple made their way to a Manhattan restaurant on Saturday night.

The pair, who began dating in 2022, were all smiles as they to their date, with Brad wearing a bright blue velvet blazer, loose denim jeans, and a half-buttoned striped shirt.
He rounded off the outfit with black shoes.
Ines, one of the bosses at Anita Ko Jewelry, wore a white sleeveless top with feathered trim and matching trousers.
The fine accessories expert added a necklace and small earrings for the couple’s night out.
It’s not the first time Brad’s style choices have raised eyebrows lately.
Earlier on Saturday he’d been seen filming with Jimmy Fallon in yet another unusual outfit. His recent appearances have sparked talk from fans he is in the midst of a full-blown midlife makeover.
Followers have compared his latest looks to his Fight Club character Tyler Durden.
The connection was made even more obvious when he stepped out recently in a lavender silk shirt, unbuttoned at the top, with black velvet trousers and a fresh buzzcut.
Brad donned the look for a double date with his pal Bradley Cooper, 50, and his girlfriend Gigi Hadid, 30, for dinner at the exclusive COTE Korean Steakhouse.
The couple were seen exiting a Midtown building shortly after Brad was forced to deny speculation that he’s using his relationship with Ines to generate publicity for F1.
His new film, F1, is due out June 27 and directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski.
It also stars Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem and Tobias Menzies.
While pushing the film, Brad also made rare remarks about family — amid ongoing public distance from the six children he shares with ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
The pair’s divorce began in 2016 and was finalized last November. They share adopted children Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, and Zahara, 20, as well as biological children Shiloh, 19, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the film’s premiere in Mexico City, Brad said: “No matter the mistake, you just learn from [it] and move on. It’ll lead to the next success.”
He added: “When you get to my age, you realize how important it is to surround yourself with the people you love, the people that love you back. Friends, family, and that.”

Sabrina Carpenter fans only just realizing she’s a secret nepo-baby with HUGELY famous TV star family member
SABRINA Carpenter is a secret nepo-baby – and fans of the star are only just twigging.
The pop star, who is now a global sensation, has an extremely famous TV star relative.

But do you know who her celebrity family member is?
Sabrina’s aunt is actress Nancy Cartwright – better known as Bart Simpson.
Nancy, 67, has been voicing cartoon character Bart for more than three decades, making it her longest-running acting role.
And as well as Bart, she also provides the voices of Maggie Simpson, Ralph Wiggum, Todd Flanders, and Nelson Muntz.
Nancy has a long list of other acting and voiceover credits to her name – some of which date back long before Sabrina was born.
As well as The Simpsons, Nancy has starred in movies including The Twilight Zone and Godzilla, and TV shows such as Cheers, 24 and The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.
She also voiced the character of Chuckie Finster in the 90s Nickelodeon cartoon Rugrats.
Sabrina’s father, David Carpenter, is Nancy’s step-brother – and some fans have only just worked out the family connection.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one person in the know declared, “Interesting side note for those who don’t know. Sabrina Carpenter‘s Aunt is Nancy Cartwright… Aka Bart Simpson.”
Someone replied, “I did not know that!”
Another person posted, “Just found out that the voice of Bart Simpson (Nancy Cartwright) is not only a Scientologist but also Sabrina Carpenter’s aunt??”
A third said, “Sabrina’s aunt is Bart Simpson!”
And a fourth admitted, “How the f*** am I just finding out Sabrina Carpenter is Nancy Cartwright’s niece?”
‘Cool’ aunt
Nancy has actually confirmed her relationship with Sabrina in a TikTok video after being asked by a fan, “Is Sabina Carpenter your niece?”
Speaking last year, Nancy said, “Yeah, absolutely.
“Isn’t that amazing when you find out that somebody that maybe…
“You’ve known me for a little while doing this little 10 year old boy for, like, 35 some years. And for some of you guys, way less than that.
“And you find out I’m related to this, like, superstar!”
Nancy added, “She’s pretty amazing.”
Sabrina has also spoken about her aunt and said growing up with her voicing Bart Simpson was “the coolest thing”.
In an interview with Captial FM, she said, “My whole life, that was just like the coolest thing in the world to me. I wasn’t even allowed to watch the show until I was a little bit older!
“The woman is a woman of many talents, not just Bart. She always blows me away. “
Sabrina also revealed how Nancy would pull it out of the bag during family meals out.
“When we were in a restaurant, she didn’t do it all the time, but there were a couple of times when we couldn’t get a table and she’d be like, ‘Hey, man, I’m Bart Simpson. What the hell’s going on?'” she added.

Final days for Americans to claim up to $10,100 from $990k data breach settlement – your location impacts payout amount
ELIGIBLE Americans can claim up to $10,100 from a huge $990,000 settlement – but where you live will impact how much you get.
Christie’s agreed to settle a lawsuit to resolve claims it failed to prevent a 2024 data breach which compromised sensitive user information.

During the breach, hackers reportedly got access to names, addresses, birth dates, nationalities, passport numbers, driver’s license details and more.
The leak happened in May 2024, and affected individuals were sent a notice.
Only people who got that notice are eligible for a payout under the deal.
Luxury auction house Christie’s hasn’t admitted to any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to close the case.
If you were impacted, you could claim up to $10,000 to cover out-of-pocket losses.
That includes things like bank fees, credit monitoring costs and unreimbursed fraud charges.
You’ll need to provide documents proving your losses to get reimbursed.
All class members can also claim a free cash payment, expected to be around $100.
The amount will depend on the number of files claimed.
And if you live in California, you could pocket an extra $100 thanks to state laws.
On top of the money, victims can get two years of free credit monitoring and identity restoration.
That includes two years of three-bureau monitoring and $1million in identity theft insurance.
You’ve got until June 19, 2025 to file a claim and get the benefits.
The deadline to object or opt out was May 20, 2025.
If you own a defective fridge, you also could be owed cash.
Americans could claim up to $300 from a settlement involving defective refrigerators sold by three different companies.
Whirlpool is paying up after it was found that some of its fridges – sold under three different brands – can develop frost build-up that interferes with cooling.
Eligible Americans are also in line to get a payout from a massive $4million settlement.
The money is being handed out by hardware tech company, HP, to settle claims it advertised misleading discounts on its website.

Lottery officials search for Mega Millions player sitting on $40k win – there are just hours left to claim
LOTTERY officials are searching for an incredibly lucky Mega Millions player who may be unaware they are sitting on a $40,000 prize – with just hours left to claim it.
The punter won the immense prize after buying a ticket in Louisiana – but could miss out on the eye-watering sum if they don’t act fast.

The lucky ticket was bought last year at a gas station.
And the jackpot-hitter has still not claimed their winnings despite months passing since the win.
Singh Brothers Two sold the winning slip.
The store is based at 28010 Highway 190, Lacombe, LA 70445.
Fortunately, the triumphant player took the ticket with Megaplier.
The Megaplier feature is designed to increase non-jackpot Mega Millions winnings by 2, 3, 4 or 5 times.
It costs an extra $1 to play.
Before each Mega Millions drawing, the Megaplier balls are randomly selected – showing either a 2X, 3X, 4X, or 5X multiplier.
The ball which is drawn determines how many times the non-jackpot winning tickets will be increased in value.
But if the winning player doesn’t pick up their cash prize in the next few hours – all of that will be for nothing, and the free $40,000 will vanish into thin air.
Having bought the ticket on December 17, 2024, the customer is rapidly running out of time to get the money before the deadline approaches.
They have until June 15 to collect their money.
So if you or someone you know won this cash prize, they need to claim their winnings on Sunday.
The Mega Millions unclaimed prizes list also shows a longer series of winners who are also yet to claim their money.
One winner bought their ticket in Arizona.
And they too have just hours before their money turns to dust.
The expiry date and last chance to claim the free $10,000 prize is also June 15.
And the winner for this smaller jackpot also purchased their lucky slip on December 17.

Shooter game loved by 10 MILLION is closing in days – fans warned they’ll have to pay for an upgrade to keep playing
AN ONLINE shooter game played by 10million at its peak will disappear from two popular consoles in a matter of days.
Developers behind the title want to focus on newer platforms, meaning it will shut down on some older devices.

As such, affected players will have to bite the bullet and pay to upgrade their console if they desperately wish to continue playing.
The game in question is The First Descendant a free-to-play multiplayer online role-playing looter shooter.
It first burst onto the scene last July on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
But almost one year on, and Xbox One and PS4 owners will be shut out.
Producer Beom-Jun Lee said the move was going ahead with “much reluctance”.
But studio Nexon says it was needed to make the game even better with its next “mega season update”.
There is one reassuring bit of news to come out of the shake-up.
Affected players can carry over their account details to any of other platform, so they need not lose everything.
The all-important date all users need to note is June 19 for the switch off.
Gamers have had mixed feelings about the upcoming overhaul.

“This game came out in July last year, why the hell did they even bother with a PS4 version to begin with if it wasn’t even going to make it a year?” one commented on Reddit.
“They shouldn’t have even bothered with PS4 support to begin with then,” another wrote.
A third added: “I feel sad for PS4 players but its a 12 year old machine its time to jump on ps5, last generation is hold this current generation of games back.”
WHY DO GAMES NEED TO CLOSE DOWN?

By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor at The Sun
With most games online these days, tech companies need to maintain quite hefty servers to manage everything.
It’s no cheap business to operate with millions of gamers across the world.
Naturally, people move on, leaving older games behind in the process.
There comes a point where it’s no longer viable to continue offering server access so studios shut them down.
For some games that are entirely online this can render it completely useless.
But others may have a way for you to continue playing solo still.
You should usually see a prominent notification in the game warning you with instructions on what to do – provided you’re still playing the game of course.
Victim of shooting at ‘No Kings’ demonstration in life-threatening condition as cops confirm they have three in custody
ONE person is in a life-threatening condition after being shot near a ‘No Kings’ demonstration as cops confirm three are in custody.
Gunfire broke out near the march which was attended by over 10,000 people in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday night.

A man who was shot on State Street in front of the Liberty SKY apartment complex is in “critical” condition.
He collapsed on the ground and emergency responders performed life-saving measures until he was transported to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Officers attended the scene after hearing gunshots around 7:56 pm, Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd confirmed to reporters.
Those attending the demonstration, including reporters and photographers, were alerted to the incident by officers shouting “Gunman!” and “Man with rifle”, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.
Witnesses were able to help identify the male suspect in the shooting who is in custody.
Redd confirmed that the suspect suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital by cops.
It is believed he was shot before officers arrived.
Two others have also been taken into custody with cops not looking for anyone else in connection to the shooting.
The police chief praised the efforts of his officers saying their “rapid response ensured the safety of thousands of participants in the downtown Salt Lake City area”.
Organizers of the anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ demonstrations that were held across the nation on Saturday worked well with police, Redd said, and that prior to the shooting everything was peaceful.
“The violence that we’ve seen today in Salt Lake City and even in other parts of the nation is horrific,” Mayor Erin Mendenhall said, referencing the assassination of Minnesota Rep Melissa Hortman and the shooting of Senator John Hoffman.
“It is not who we are. Let me be clear this act of violence does not define our city.
“The purpose of today’s demonstration was powerful and a peaceful expression until this event and that cannot be overshadowed or silenced by a single act meant to harm.”
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing with a motive not yet released.
All three individuals taken into custody were involved in the shooting and appeared to be part of the protest, the police chief said.
On Saturday, at least 10,000 demonstrators took part in the march between Pioneer Park and the Federal Building.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox was briefed on the situation which he called “deeply troubling”.
“My heart is broken for everyone impacted tonight,” he said on X.
“Thank you to the thousands of protestors who exercised their constitutional rights in the right way tonight.”
The “No Kings” demonstrations attended by millions across the country to protest President Donald Trump came as he held a lavish military parade in Washington DC coinciding with his 79th birthday.
