A SCHOOL nurse was reassigned after allegedly wearing a jacket that read “ICE” on the back for “Superhero Day,” sparking outrage among parents and school officials.
The nurse worked at Northwest Elementary School in Amityville, Long Island, New York, and allegedly wore the jacket on school grounds on Wednesday.

APThe nurse allegedly wore a jacket with letters that spelled ‘ICE’ during ‘Superhero Day at Northwest Elementary School[/caption]
“The Amityville Union Free School District is aware of an allegation involving a district staff member who affixed an acronym to their clothing that was perceived by some members of the school community as offensive or inappropriate in the educational setting,” read a statement from the school district.
After learning about the situation, the nurse was “immediately reassigned” to a non-school setting, and an investigation is underway, the statement read.
“Our top priority is to ensure that our schools remain safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces for all students and families.”
The statement didn’t explicitly say what acronym was on the nurse’s clothing; however, the Amityville Teachers‘ Association president, Nakia Wolfe, confirmed to Newsday that the letters spelled out “ICE.”
Wolfe told the outlet that the employee was a nurse at the elementary school and the incident happened on the same day as a moving-up ceremony for the kindergartners.
The nurse’s name wasn’t given, but Wolfe did condemn their behavior, saying it has no place at the school.
“Why would you come into a setting of learning to make any type of political stance like that?” Wolfe said.
“It’s just completely inappropriate.”
Hilda Brown, a teacher at the elementary school, shared that the nurse wore the jacket while the school was hosting “Superhero Day,” where students come in dressed as their favorite hero.
Some parents who picked up their kids on the day of the alleged incident shared their reaction to the claims with News 12 Long Island.
“That’s utterly disgusting. This is the world we’re living in now?” said Marquise Gordon.
“We got kids that’s just trying to get their education,” Gordon continued.
“How dare you show up to a school in that type of, and set that type of precedent, knowing what’s going on in the world right now?”
Another parent, Jackie Sauls, said, “People are already fearful as it is. There’s no right in that.”
In New York City, over 86 demonstrators were arrested by the NYPD at a rally in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday.
In Long Island, there’s been an uptick in ICE activity across Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Multiple people were taken into custody by ICE agents in Glen Cove, about 30 miles outside of NYC, on Wednesday morning, according to Detective Lt. John Nagle.
“ICE New York City is actively investigating immigration crimes throughout the five boroughs, Long Island, and the lower Hudson Valley,” an ICE spokesperson told News 12 Long Island.
Small anti-ICE protests have happened across Long Island since Sunday in several counties as a response.
APSchool officials said an investigation is underway and the nurse was immediately transferred to a non-school setting[/caption]

THIS is the shocking moment a passenger threw herself out of a moving taxi “to avoid paying the £1.40 fare”.

The customer could be seen trying to ease herself out of the car and hit the ground already running in a bid to avoid falling.
But the driver was going too fast for her to land steadily on her feet.
She tumbled onto the tarmac, rolled over, and skidded to a stop moments later.
She then picked herself up and hobbled off as a passing biker stopped to ask if she was okay.
The bizarre scenes unfolded on 3 June in Itapetininga, west of São Paulo, Brazil.
The taxi driver told police that the ride had been requested with cash as the selected payment method.
On the way to the destination in the city centre, the passenger gave a different name from the one the ride had been booked under.
She added that she did not have the cash, prompting the driver to tell her they would have to go to the police to sort the matter out.
En route to the police station, the passenger opened the door and jumped out of the moving car.
The taxi driver – according to her testimony – stopped, got out, and tried to talk to the passenger.
The woman allegedly told her she would pay the fare – £1.38 (10.40 BRL) – via a transfer later on and asked for her account details.
A local media source told What’s The Jam: “At the end of the day, she paid the driver.”

The Hawaii airport, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), is set to increase its parking rates next month, as reported by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
The state’s Department of Transportation has urged travelers that the new rate will be $27 per day, starting July 1, 2025.
Previously, drivers only had to pay a daily rate of $25.
Hourly rates are also seeing changes, effective July 1, 2025.

The airport will use the money generated by the increased fees to pay for remodeling and adding structures for staff and travelers.
HNL is the largest airport in Hawaii and handles a significant amount of traffic.
It has four active runways, including the Reef Runway, and accommodates over 21 million passengers annually.
There are roughly 5,300 parking spaces available at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
The airport even has designated parking spaces for electric vehicles.
These spaces are available in the International Parking Garage at various locations on levels 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

AN 80s rock band have shared their shock at discovering claims about their lead singer’s behaviour is “largely true”.
The performers in the group have shared their thoughts on the singer over his “double life”.

GettyMichael Tait has admitted that the claims about himself are “largely true”[/caption]
The Newsboys were headed up by lead singer Michael Tait, 59, who has faced accusations of drug and sex abuse – with the singer recognising that many of the claims about him are “largely true”.
He took to social media where he shared his version of events in an extremely honest post.
The former lead singer of the Christian rock band said: “For some two decades I used and abused cocaine, consumed far too much alcohol, and, at times, touched men in an unwanted sensual way.
“I am ashamed of my life choices and actions, and make no excuses for them.
“I will simply call it what God calls it-sin.”
He added: “I’m ashamed to admit that for years I have lied and deceived my family, friends, fans and even misled my bandmates about aspects of my life.
“I was, for the most part, living two distinctly different lives.
“I was not the same person on stage Sunday night that I was at home on Monday.”
The allegations first appeared to come to light when his former band made a statement to condemn his actions following an investigation by the Christian publication, The Roys Report.
In the investigation, three men, who were all 22 at the time of what they allege occurred, told how they had become to befriend Michael before he made unwanted non-consensual sexual advances on them.
The three occurrences are understood to have happened across ten years in 2004, 2010 and 2014 whilst Micheal was touring.
Michael left the group in January of this year before the allegations came to light.
On June 5, his former band released a statement in which they said: “Last night, our hearts were shattered when we read the news alleging drug abuse and inappropriate sexual actions by our former lead singer, Michael Tait.
“While Michael has not addressed these allegations, we are devastated even by the implications.
“First and foremost, our hearts are with the victims who have bravely shared their stories.
“If you are a victim, we urge you to come forward. We absolutely do not condone any form of sexual assault.”
They added they were “horrified, heartbroken, and angry” to hear of his deciet.
The band added: “The four of us are husbands and fathers. Between the four of us, we have fourteen children.
“Our wives and children have made many sacrifices while we have dedicated our lives to playing music together that glorifies God.”

A BELOVED fried chicken chain is exploring a sale that could value the company at more than $1.5 billion, according to reports.
Rumors of a potential transaction comes just days after the parent company of Subway, Roark Capital, bought Dave’s Hot Chicken.

GettyAnother fried chicken chain is also looking at a potential sale this month (stock image)[/caption]
GettyBojangles is worth around $1.5 billion (stock image)[/caption]
Dave’s Hot Chicken is a relatively new brand, it started in Los Angeles in 2017 and quickly expanded to 300 franchise locations nationwide.
It’s yearly sales for 2024 alone grew by 57% at $600 million.
Needless to say, Dave’s Hot Chicken has been on a hot streak and the fast food industry took notice.
That’s why Roark Capital officially purchased a stake in the brand earlier in June for $1 billion.
Now, the longstanding and highly popular southern chicken chain Bojangles’ Famous Chicken n’ Biscuits is looking to shake things up with potential sale of its business, per a report from The Wall Street Journal.
Bojangles could sell its assets for over $1.5 billion, about three times its value in 2019 when it was bought out by private equity firms Durational Capital Management and TJC.
It was an all-cash transaction at $590 million.
The US Sun has contacted Bojangles for more information on its potential sale.
Currently, Bojangles has around 800 locations nationwide after humble beginnings in Charlotte, North Carolina, back in 1977.
The purchase would come amid the overall “Chicken Sandwich Wars” that’s been coined for restaurants in 2025 as they scramble to meet consumer demand for chicken-based offerings.
HIGH DEMAND
According to findings in a press release from Research and Markets in March, the chicken market is expected to be a $268.35 billion industry by 2033.
Reasons for this increase demand in chicken has been attributed to a desire for “inexpensive protein, [and] growing health consciousness that favors lean meat.”
“The expansion of fast food and quick-service restaurants, urbanization, improvements in poultry farming, and the popularity of processed and ready-to-eat chicken products are some of the factors driving the chicken market’s growth,” the release noted.
“Chicken-based menu items including fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, and chicken nuggets have become mainstays in QSR offerings as consumer preferences change toward convenience and quick meals.”
Fast Food meal deals
Here are some of the current value meals offered by popular fast food joints.
Taco Bell’s $7 Luxe Cravings Box:
Chalupa Supreme
Beefy Five-Layer Burrito
Double Stacked Taco
Chips and nacho cheese sauce

McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal:

Small soft drink
Wendy’s $5 Biggie Bag:
Junior Bacon Cheeseburger or Crispy Chicken Sandwich
Four-piece chicken nuggets

Small soft drink
Burger King’s $5 Your Way Meal:
Whopper Junior, Chicken Junior, or Bacon Cheeseburger

MCDONALD’S MISSION
Fast food giants like McDonald’s, for example, have noted plans to have chicken be a point of focus going forward.
CEO Chris Kempczinski noted this during an earnings call at the end of last year.
“We’re excited about the significant opportunity we see within our chicken portfolio and see the potential to add another point of chicken market share by the end of 2026,” he told investors.
McDonald’s already brought the McCrispy Strips to menus at its over 13,600 locations nationwide in early May after tests last summer.
Just earlier this month, it finally confirmed the return date of the Snack Wrap, another chicken-based offering, after a leak from an employee.
Competing restaurants like Culver’s also confirmed that it would be making major updates to “run-of-the-mill” chicken sandwiches.
A popular chain dubbed “better than Popeyes & KFC” by some customers is also opening at least 10 more locations this year.

There had been marriage rumors surrounding the 41-year-old Rodgers, who told the world in December that he was in a relationship with a woman named Brittani.
It has been revealed that the four-time NFL MVP’s younger brother, Jordan Rodgers, and his wife, JoJo Fletcher, didn’t attend his wedding, per the Daily Mail.
The report shared that Jordan “knows nothing” about Rodgers’ new wife.
“Jordan and JoJo didn’t go to the wedding and don’t even know anything really about Brittani,” the source told the outlet.
“What they’ve heard is secondhand from his parents [Ed and Darla].
“They are still angry that Aaron didn’t go to their wedding [in May 2022].
“He didn’t want to be with his brother on the biggest day of his life, so why should they twist themselves up over this wedding?”
Jordan and JoJo were contestants on season 12 of ABC’s The Bachelorette.
Rodgers is also estranged from his parents and other brother, Luke.
Jordan and Jojo reportedly didn’t know about Rodgers’ wedding until they saw the news on the internet, and the mystery woman doesn’t want attention.
“Secondhand, they hear that she’s willing to stay private and that she’s not with him for his fame or money,” the DM reported.
“But they know nothing about her.
“This is not a close family unit at all.
“Right now, Jojo and Jordan are getting the news about the marriage from the internet.”

It’s his first marriage after previously having past relationships with former Nascar driver Danica Patrick, and actresses Olivia Munn and Shailene Woodley.
Rodgers will play in his 21st season in the NFL this fall.
He signed a one-year, $13.6 million contract last weekend after spending the past two seasons with the New York Jets.

TWO healthy food items have surprisingly been added to a “dirty dozen” list due to possible contamination.
But the environmental group which released its updated guide has been slammed for being “misleading” shoppers.

AlamyBlackberries are a surprise addition to the EWG’s “dirty dozen” list[/caption]
AlamyThe humble spud has also ended up on the list, for containing chlorpropham, a sprout inhibitor used post-harvest[/caption]
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) yesterday revealed its new shopper’s guide to produce tainted with harmful pesticides.
It looks at Department of Agriculture data to review pesticide residues on many popular fruits and vegetables.
The group announced that almost 60% of samples of conventionally grown fruit and vegetables on its “clean 15” list had no detectable pesticide residues.
However, there were a couple of surprise additions to its dirty dozen list – whose produce “contained residues of potentially harmful pesticides.”
The EWG has added blackberries and potatoes to the list, ranking the popular fruit and veg 10th and 12th respectively.
Their addition to the infamous list was based on new data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which tested blackberries for the first time two years ago.
The group announced, “Blackberries and potatoes made this year’s dirty dozen.
“That’s based on the USDA’s first-time tests of blackberries, which found 93% of samples had pesticide residues, for an average of four different pesticides per sample.
“The pesticide cypermethrin, classified as a possible human carcinogen by the Environmental Protection Agency, was detected on just over half of conventional blackberry samples.
“For potatoes, new USDA data revealed that 90% of samples contained chlorpropham, a sprout inhibitor used post-harvest.
“The European Union banned use of the chemical in 2019 due to health concerns for both farmers and consumers.
“In total, more than 50 different pesticides were found on samples from each of the dirty dozen fruits and vegetables, except for cherries.
“Every commodity except potatoes had on average four or more pesticides detected on individual samples.”
It said the association had “joined nutritionists and scientists in raising concerns about the group’s latest publication.
“The claims in this report are not only misleading — they’re dangerously counterproductive to our nation’s public health goals.
“Fruits and vegetables are the foundation of a healthy diet and one of the most effective tools we have for preventing chronic, diet-related diseases.
“Yet, today, 90 percent of Americans fall short of the recommended daily intake of these essential foods — a public health crisis we can and must urgently address.”
DISCOURAGING
Harvard University warned in 2018 that a failure to consume enough veg and fruit “can harm your health, putting you at higher risk for diabetes and heart disease and even certain cancers, not to mention leaving you at risk for nutritional deficiencies.”
The IFPA lashed out at the EWG, saying it didn’t “make sense to discourage people from eating produce.”
Rather than sowing fear, we need a national, coordinated effort to increase fruit and vegetable consumption
IFPA
It added, “This kind of unfounded rhetoric harms consumers and unfairly threatens the livelihoods of American farmers, who work tirelessly to grow safe, nutritious food for their communities.
“Baseless attacks on fruit and vegetable growers only undermine efforts to improve diets in a country where 70% of what we eat is ultra-processed, and where chronic disease costs our economy more than $1 trillion annually in healthcare and lost productivity.”
SAFE TO EAT
The association defended farmers and federal agencies, saying the latter “rigorously review crop protection tools through science-based processes to ensure their safety.”
It also accused the report’s authors of “conveniently ignoring that the USDA’s pesticide data program consistently finds that produce sold in the U.S. meets or exceeds the EPA’s strict safety standards.”
The IFPA said it would be better if the environmental group supported efforts in aid of improving Americans’ health.
It added, “Rather than sowing fear, we need a national, coordinated effort to increase fruit and vegetable consumption — and empower farmers to keep providing abundant, affordable, and safe produce for every American table.”
This produce was found to have overall lower levels of toxicity
The “clean 15” list includes:
Pineapples was ranked first place followed by sweet corn (fresh and frozen), avocados, papayas and onion (5th place).
Sweet peas (frozen), asparagus, cabbage, watermelon, cauliflower, bananas, mangoes, carrots, mushrooms, and kiwi also made the list.
There was a mixed reaction on social media to the “dirty dozen” list, with some accusing the EWG of “fear-mongering.”
But the group responded, “Our shopper’s guide isn’t here to scare anyone off produce.
“It’s simply a resource for those who want to be more mindful about pesticide exposure.
“Extensive research shows that even small doses, especially over long periods during vulnerable life stages like pregnancy and childhood, or when combined with other chemicals, can still cause harm.”
SCRUB PRODUCE
There was confusion over how to safely consume any fruit and veg that might be tainted with pesticides.
The group suggested, “We recommend washing with running water for at least 20 seconds and using clean hands to rub or scrub produce.
“Avoid soaps, detergents, bleach and produce washes – there’s not enough evidence they’re safe or effective.”
Mexico is currently the top supplier of fresh berries to the United States, according to a USDA report.
In 2024, about 930,000 acres of land in the U.S. were planted with potatoes, of which roughly 925,400 acres were harvested, reported Statista.

RACHEL Zoe decided to join RHOBH in the midst of her ‘complicated’ split from business partner husband Rodger Berman, as money has ‘become tight’ for the couple, The U.S. Sun can reveal.

GettyRachel Zoe and Rodger Berman at the A Sense of Home Gala held on October 21, 2023 in Los Angeles, California[/caption]
The casting news came just months after Rachel, 53, made another shocking announcement – the end of her 26-year-long marriage to her business partner, Rodger.
On the heels of her divorce, securing a Bravo paycheck was apparently a big factor as to why the fashionista decided to take on the reality show gig.
“The money has been tighter for them for a while. It’s complicated because essentially, their entire lives are intertwined.
“He runs all her businesses so there is no separation of work and home life. And there is no separation of his work and hers,” a source exclusively told The U.S. Sun.
Currently, Rodger acts as the co-founder and co-CEO of Rachel Zoe, Inc.
He also serves as a co-founder and managing partner of Rachel Zoe Ventures and previously ran The Zoe Report – Rachel’s fashion and lifestyle newsletter that was a pop culture staple for 11 years before it shuttered in 2020.
The insider continued to explain: “They built this together, which is a big reason she joined RHOBH.
“She wanted to venture out and do something that didn’t involve him. This will be her first big job post-divorce that does not involve him, it will be hers.
“She needs the money, sure, but even more so, she needs to start branching out on her own now that they are no longer together. It’s important to her.
“Rodger will continue to be involved in her businesses, but at a different capacity than he once was.
“When they finally do divorce, it’s going to cost a fortune, and she needs to be prepared.”
Rachel, who has a reported $30m net worth, married Rodger in 1996, and they share two kids together: sons Skyler, 14, and Kaius, 11.
In September, Rachel took to her Instagram and announced the end of her marriage: “After 33 years together and 26 years married, Rodger and I have come to the mutual decision to end our marriage.
“We are incredibly proud of the loving family we have created and our countless memories together.
“Our number one priority has been and will always be our children. We are committed to coparent our boys and to continue to work together within the many businesses we share.
“We ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this new chapter,” she said in the post.
While the pair didn’t give a reason for the split, Us Weekly reported that the divorce was “a long time coming.”
Real Housewives Franchises
Over the last few decades, there is currently 10 versions of the Real Housewives.
“There is no scandal or smoking gun, it’s more death by a thousand cuts. Their main issues were mixing their personal and professional lives too much.
“Rodger is the president of her company, so they had to have hard conversations about their marriage and about the business that weighed on their relationship,” they claimed.
BACK TO BRAVO
In June, Rachel announced her return to Bravo years after she became a pioneer for the network.
She led The Rachel Zoe Project – which ran for five seasons on Bravo and was considered one of the first hits for the then-new reality network.
Reacting to the news of her big return in joining RHOBH, Bravo boss Andy Cohen gushed: “We are so excited about that and to have Rachel, and it’s so wild.
“She really fits. She knows Kathy [Hilton] well. She knows Kyle [Richards]. She knows [Bozoma Saint John.]
“She was just on Boz’s podcast. She knows Jennifer Tilly, so she really knows. I think that she must know Sutton [Stracke] from being around.
“Rachel is really the perfect fit and at a real transitional moment in her life,” he said on his latest episode of his SiriusXM’s show.

A MAN said he was slapped with a $2,600 bill for a bathroom remodel that never happened, and now he’s being sued.
The shopper insists he canceled the job within the allowed timeframe and says he never got a single item.
An Arizona man says he’s being sued over a $2,600 job that never happenedAZFamilyLowe’s customer says he was chased by debt collectors for the billAZFamily
The situation unfolded in Sun City, Arizona, roughly 30 miles from Phoenix, where Bill Bruns and his wife went to Lowe’s in 2023 to explore options for remodeling their bathroom.
Lowe’s referred the couple to Re-Bath, a remodeling company it partners with for home projects.
A salesman from Re-Bath visited the couple’s home and gave them an estimate of over $9,000.
Bruns and his wife agreed to the estimate but say they were told they had three days to cancel the job.
They changed their minds after just one night, but say they couldn’t find a way to reach Re-Bath.
“There was no demolition. Nothing was taken out. Nothing was replaced. No work at all was done in that bathroom. Nothing was ordered. Nothing,” Bruns told On Your Side.
He claims the Re-Bath salesman didn’t leave a business card or contact details.
The couple say they canceled the project by calling and visiting their local Lowe’s store.
Still, Bruns was shocked when he got a letter saying he was being sued.
The claim was filed by Synchrony Bank, a financing partner of Lowe’s, which alleged Bruns opened a credit line to fund the remodel.
Bruns said he has been refusing to pay monthly bills for nearly 18 months.
“I’m retired. I’ve been retired for 27 years, and I don’t need the stress,” 82-year-old Bruns said.
He said reaching out to the press was his “last hope.”
“I said I gotta get something going. I can’t do this. I can’t go on for another year and a half with people saying, ‘You owe me or we’re going to sue you,’” he told On Your Side.

Documents showed the $2,600 charge came from a “restocking fee” imposed after the cancellation.
That fee, with time, grew to $2,621.35, the amount Bruns is now being sued for.
Bruns has insisted that nothing was ever delivered or even ordered.
“There was nothing to restock,” he said.
He reached out to the local news station for help after getting nowhere.
The outlet contacted Lowe’s, Re-Bath, and Synchrony Bank for answers.
Soon after, Re-Bath confirmed it would pay the full $2,621.35 to Synchrony Bank to settle the issue.
Bruns said the development appears hopeful, but he has remained wary.
“I’ll probably get another letter or two here this week. I don’t know. I just had enough. I had enough a year ago,” he said.
