KOHL’S is set to follow other retailers in closing its doors for 24 hours in a few weeks.
While the physical stores will close, consumers can still shop online.
As the holiday season approaches, many shoppers will be plagued with closed doors on Thanksgiving just like they were for Easter and Labor Day.
Kohl’s, a major department store with over 1,100 locations in the U.S., is no exception.
Kohl’s closes every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
Thanksgiving falls on November 27 this year.
Kohl’s remains open for other major holidays like Labor Day, Easter and New Year’s Eve and Day, according to Go Banking Rates.
Kohl’s said in a 2022 press release that shoppers can use the Kohl’s app and website to shop on Thanksgiving Day.
Before Thanksgiving, Kohl’s shoppers can see a fall savings event running from October 6 to October 9.
The sales event is meant to help shoppers “stock up on key fall essentials and kickstart holiday shopping with savings up to 50% off.”
Deals are being offered in store and online.
Kohl’s is following in the footsteps of other major retailers like Target and Costco who will shut their doors for the holiday.
Target announced it was closing for Thanksgiving in 2024 but shoppers could still access the website to shop.
The retailer opened its doors early the next morning in honor of Black Friday.
Many other retailers that sell similar merchandise to Kohl’s like TJ Maxx, Burlington and Macy’s are set to close on the holiday, leaving shoppers with limited options.
Shoppers might choose to wait until the big annual savings event the day after Thanksgiving.
Kohl’s will likely open at 5:00 a.m. for Black Friday, according to BlackFriday.com.

The retailer used to start its Black Friday sale on Thanksgiving night but has since ceased the extra hours, per BlackFriday.com.
Walmart has also been known to close all its locations on Thanksgiving.
In 2024, Lowe’s confirmed it was also closing its 1,700 locations for the holiday as its hardware store competitor Home Depot was set to do the same.
Costco, a bulk warehouse retailer, also closes its doors on many holidays.
All U.S. warehouses will close on Thanksgiving, Costco’s website said.
Ahead of the holiday, Costco released its 11-item Thanksgiving meal kit.
The kit contains 28 pounds of food and serves eight people.
It retails for $269.99 but shoppers can get it for $70 cheaper for a limited time with a manufacturer coupon.
Before Thanksgiving, some places will shut operations for Columbus Day on October 13.
The United States Postal Service will close its 33,780 branches on October 13.
Bank of America and Wells Fargo are also set to close their locations for 24 hours.
FORMER NFL star Mark Sanchez has been captured bloodied and stumbling through the streets after he was stabbed in an alleyway brawl.
The 38-year-old quarterback-turned commentator has been arrested and accused of starting an unprovoked fight with a 69-year-old truck driver outside an Indiana bar early Sunday morning.
Surveillance video released by the New York Post shows Sanchez clutching a dark patch on his torso and walking on the Indianapolis street at 12:30 am.
The footage was revealed after a bartender who was working near the scuffle said that a mangled Sanchez pounded on his pub’s window and begged him for help after the attack.
Workers rushed to bring the ex-player inside and called 911 before holding rags over his gushing wounds and trying to ask him what happened.
He was taken to the hospital and treated for his wounds before he was hit with charges.
Sanchez was allegedly reeking of alcohol when he started accosting the driver over his truck blocking an alleyway, an affidavit states.
The driver was backed into a hotel’s loading dock while he replaced old grease for restaurants.
According to the police docs, the driver told cops that he started to believe he was in danger and sprayed Sanchez with pepper spray.
When the ex-NFL player didn’t stop approaching the driver, he thought, “this guy is trying to kill me,” the affidavit alleges.
The driver whipped out a knife and stabbed Sanchez “two or three times” before the player allegedly threw him into a dumpster.
Soon after this, a “look of shock” came over the player’s face and he “took off,” the driver said.
When Sanchez stumbled into the nearby bar, he reportedly said that he’d been shot and didn’t identify himself, bartender Scott Bennett told Fox affiliate WXIN.
Sanchez told detectives who spoke with him in the hospital that he didn’t remember anything about the night until he grabbed “a window,” an affidavit states.
He has yet to release a statement or comment about the incident.
Bennett said that he could understand Sanchez or get his name when he stumbled into the bar.
“I didn’t recognize him at all,” he said.
Pictures of the alleged victim released by WXIN show an older man covered in blood with a grisly slash across his cheek.
“His family says he was cut in the fight and it went through his cheek and hit his tongue,” WXIN reporter Angela Ganote wrote on social media.
The driver turned his hearing aid off because his truck was too loud when he was confronted by Sanchez, the affidavit states.
The former player was reportedly acting erratically and doing wind sprints before the brawl, sources told WXIN.

DEEP in the misty forests of Northern California, a makeshift community is on the verge of collapse.
Yee Haw, a free-spirited commune, is being forced to pack up.
Yee Haw, located in the coastal city of Trinidad, California, about 30 minutes from Eureka, has about 10 residents. Officials said it has turned into a code-breaking, biohazard nightmare.
The commune has been found with leaking sewage, or containers with human waste, junk-filled yards, firetrap cabins, and residents refusing to budge, reported The Daily Mail.
Officials cited a laundry list of dangers including missing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, hazardous electrical setups, wood stoves installed without proper flues, and several unstable buildings.
County leaders blasted property owner Charles Garth as irresponsible, saying he’d had a quarter of a century to bring the settlement up to safety standards but failed to do so.
Garth started the community in the early 2000s in response to rising utility and housing costs.
Now, the controversial off-grid community is on the brink of closure after the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors, which governs the Trinidad area, voted to move forward with abatement, a process that would involve clearing unsafe structures and cleaning up the land.
“It’s time to do the right thing and clean up the property for the area,” said First District Supervisor Rex Bohn at the board’s September 23 meeting.
“What’s the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again with the same result?” Bohn added.
The conflict over the Yee Haw commune stretches back more than two decades.
In May 2001, Humboldt County officials issued their first notices against the settlement after they discovered widespread safety violations.
Most of the makeshift homes lacked basic fire and carbon monoxide detectors, and inspectors even found people living in vehicles with extension cords snaking through the windows to supply electricity.
Garth has earned some serious fines over the years.
That includes $63,000 in fines, penalties, and administrative costs, a figure that has now ballooned to roughly $100,000, according to The Times-Standard.
County officials tried once again to bring the commune into compliance in January.
It granted Yee Haw a nine-month window to fix safety hazards and legalize its structures.
That deadline came and went with little progress.
“I need a new deal. Come on, you guys. I’m doing the right thing,” Garth told officials at a Board of Supervisors meeting in September. He was pushing for more time.
“Your director has already stated numerous times that there’s no way to build affordable housing. I can build affordable housing all day till the cows come home. I can build it. Just let me do it.”
The saga grew even more complicated when ownership to the property shifted.
On February 26, Garth transferred the land at 450 and 473 Quarry Road to a nonprofit called Evergreen Non-Profits, led by his son James A. Garth and established in 2022.
Evergreen CFO Allen K. Ng said the new owners were tackling the commune’s problems, including water testing and scrap removal. He said they were making a plan to get things in better shape.
