HGTV was originally launched back in 1994 and is now owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.

It primarily focuses on shows that are either related to real estate or home improvement for U.S. households.

It has recently been announced that Farmhouse Fixer and Married to Real Estate have fallen victim to the chopping block.

Also facing the dreaded axe is Izzy Does It and Bargain Block as bosses have apparently decided to move in a different direction.

Jonathan Knight is one of te stars of Farmhouse Fixer along with designer Kristina Crestin.

Together, they utilised their skills to restore historical homes while trying to retain classic features.

Reacting to the news of the shows cancellation on Instagram, he wrote: “I am sad to say HGTV has decided not to move forward with another season.

“While I’m still processing the reasons that led to their decision, Kristina and I are so grateful for all your support over the past 3 seasons.”

He added: “Television has been so incredibly fun for us.

“We are so proud of what we created together and look forward to sharing what’s next for us.”

Fans flooded the comments section as they were left devestated by the news.

One user fumed: “Ugh i wont watch hgtv anymore, so lame!”

“This is a massacre,” started a second former viewer.

While someone else exclaimed: “My favorite HGTV shows are cancelled?!

While I’m still processing the reasons that led to their decision, Kristina and I are so grateful for all your support over the past 3 seasons.

“I love Bargain Block, Married to Real Estate, Farmhouse Fixer! The shake-up going on is going to turn off a lot of viewers.”

As a fourth claimed: “Damn.. they are just killing all the good shows, might as well close the network down.”

And a fifth fan added: “They literally are killing the network.”

HGTV show’s future uncertain after disappointing ratings as network slashes beloved series from lineup

A POPULAR HGTV show’s future is uncertain after disappointing ratings as the network has slashed beloved programs from the upcoming lineup.

The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal former Teen Mom 2 star Chelsea Houska’s series Down Home Fab, which is currently airing its third season, has also not received the greenlight for Season 4.

“We are keeping our fingers crossed for Season 4,” a source close to the show told The U.S. Sun. “We are hoping we get renewed. We haven’t heard anything from the network yet.”

LOW RATINGS

Down Home Fab’s ratings for the current season have been disappointing.

The premiere episode on May 27, 2025 brought in 526,000 viewers, while the June 3 show had 499,000.

The June 10 show dropped down to 446,000 viewers, but went back up to 524,000 on June 17.

The most recent episode on June 24 had 506,000 people watching.

While ratings are roughly similar to previous seasons, Down Home Fab did reach an impressive 878,000 viewers for the January 30, 2023 episode.

Down Home Fab is currently the 7th most-watched show on HGTV, as the top spot belongs to My Lottery Dream House with 820,000 viewers.

Cancelled shows Farmhouse Fixer and Bargain Block get well over the amount of ratings as Down Home Fab.

Farmhouse Fixer’s latest episode on June 11, 2024 had 951,000 viewers, while Bargain Block had 731,000 for the October 2, 2024 show, making their cancelations shocking.

DOWN HOME’S RULES

Chelsea and Cole’s strict rules during filming could hurt them when it comes to a renewal.

“They are just really adamant about staying close to home because of the kids,” a source previously told The U.S. Sun.

“They only want to be an hour or so away from the kids and I get that. Everyone wants them to come to other states.”

Chelsea and Cole currently renovate homes within about an hour of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

They have this restraint to be able to spend more time with their children Aubree, 15, who Chelsea shares with ex-boyfriend Adam Lind, and her kids with husband Cole: Watson, 8, Layne, 6, and Walker, 4.

Based in South Dakota, Chelsea’s designs are often rustic and farmhouse style with modern touches.

Her designs often feature antler chandeliers, cowhides, Buffalo portraits and more popular trends in South Dakota.

In addition to the series, Chelsea also owns storefront Down Home by DeBoers in Tea, South Dakota.

HGTV CANCELLED SHOWS 2025

HGTV has slashed multiple shows ahead of the 2025-2026 season. The shows stars and fans have expressed their dismay over the decision.

The cancelled shows for the 2025-2026 year include:

-Married to Real Estate

-Izzy Does It

-Farmhouse Fixer

-Bargain Block

SAD GOODBYE

As for the cancelled shows, the stars are expressing their shock over the news.

Farmhouse Fixer host Jonathan Knight said of the three-season series, “A lot of you have been asking about the future of Farmhouse Fixer. I am sad to say HGTV has decided not to move forward with another season.

“While I’m still processing the reasons that led to their decision, Kristina and I are so grateful for all your support over the past three seasons. Television has been so incredibly fun for us.

“We are so proud of what we created together and look forward to sharing what’s next for us.”

Izzy Does It host Izzy Battres wrote on Instagram, “Unfortunately, no season two, but we’re truly, thankful for everyone watching and supporting us!!’

Bargain Block’s Keith Bynum said new episodes will be out in August for Season 4, but there will be no Season 5.

Then Married to Real Estate’s Mike Jackson and Egypt Sherrod said in a statement, “Mike and I just landed back in the States after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean, and we’re met with unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate.”

They continued that while “disheartening,” they are “deeply grateful” for the “four incredible seasons.”
