OASIS rockers Liam and Noel Gallagher have swapped booze for brews as they rehearse for their long-awaited Live ’25 tour.

The former hellraising brothers sipped tea as they practised with bandmates Bonehead, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Joey Waronker.

Asked by a fan on X if they were on the Guinness while preparing, frontman Liam, 52, replied: “We’re professionals.

“No time for drinking.”

A source close to the Gallaghers, who will reunite on stage for the first time in 16 years on July 4, said: “Liam drinks tea to help warm up his vocal chords.

“He feels really fresh and they’re excited to get going.

“Rehearsals have been electric and they’re perfectly in sync.”

Liam said previously that he never drinks before a gig, or the night before.

He said: “The voice don’t handle that any more.”

Noel, 58, said last year he wanted a break from drinking and was “going to try and get off the booze”.

Horror as soldier stabbed in the face by maniac in random attack while walking his dog near UK base

A ROYAL Engineer was attacked by a knifeman who tried to steal the dog he was walking.

The trainee, in his 20s, was confronted by a maniac who attempted to steal the pet two miles away from the Swinton Barracks in Tidworth, Wiltshire.

The incident on Friday afternoon sent shockwaves through the camp, though the young victim, who suffered a facial wound, is expected to make a full recovery.

It is understood that police are now investigating the attack.

It is not thought to be linked to the victim’s role in the Army.

A source said: “It was a random attack while he was out walking a dog.

“The attacker approached him and produced a knife, and demanded that he hand the dog over.

“Obviously he refused. The knifeman made a lunge at him, and he was wounded in the face.

“The attacker wouldn’t have known he was in the military, but obviously, with the threats soldiers face, this is still an alarming incident.”

Military sources said Wiltshire Police were investigating the incident as a civilian matter.

Swinton Barracks is a 320-acre military estate on the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain, which is regularly used for Army drills.

It houses two Royal Engineer regiments and two Signal regiments.

Wiltshire Police said: “At around 3.45pm on Friday, we received a report that an unknown suspect had approached a man walking a dog in woodland near Perham Down and attempted to snatch the lead of the dog.

“The victim, a man in his 20s, suffered a minor injury to his face during the incident.

“Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”

From creating the NHS to investing in people, Labour are innovators – next week we’ll do it again… with £86b for hi-tech

Collage of historical photos and modern images related to medical technology.

IT has been almost a year since Labour came to power – and in that time we have made tough choices to steady our economy.

This government will never forget that the decisions we make impact your family’s finances.

Workers in cleanroom suits working on semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

In 1948 the NHS was founded by a Labour government[/caption]

You know what it means to work hard and make sacrifices when times are tough.

And while that has not been easy, the tide is beginning to turn.

Interest rates have been cut four times — a boost for everyone with a mortgage.

We raised the pay of millions of working people by up to £1,400 a year by increasing the national minimum wage.

In the last week, we have increased the number of children eligible for free school meals by half a million and announced £15billion to upgrade trains and buses outside London.

Now is the time to invest in Britain’s future, and that means doing things differently.

We are building a new economic model that puts working people first.

By investing in the industries of tomorrow, we will create good jobs, boost wages and put more money into people’s pockets.

Too often, governments get caught firefighting today’s problems, neglecting the opportunities of tomorrow.

But history shows us a different path.

After a post-war election victory in 1945, a Labour government created the NHS.

In the 1960s, we backed science and technology in the age of the “white heat”.

In the 1990s, we invested in people and public services, transforming lives.

Today, we must do the same, by backing British ideas and innovation.

Next week, the Chancellor will set out our plan to renew Britain’s economy by investing in your priorities: health, security and good jobs.

As part of that, we are announcing an £86billion investment in the UK’s fastest-growing sectors — tech, life sciences, advanced manufacturing and defence.

This money will fund cutting-edge medical research to tackle hard-to-treat diseases to help keep families together for longer.

It will support defence innovation to keep Britain safe in an increasingly volatile world.

‘Foundations for change’

And it will power advances in engineering biology that could revolutionise how we produce food, fuel, materials.

These investments will more than pay for themselves and will create thousands of well-paid jobs across the country.

And the decisions over where to spend the cash will not be made in Whitehall, but in the communities that will benefit, because we know every corner of Great Britain has a part to play.

We want to see Liverpool leveraging its expertise in life sciences to accelerate drug discovery; Northern Ireland harnessing its reputation for cutting-edge defence equipment to shore up our national security; and South Wales making the most of its expertise in designing cutting-edge semiconductors that power the devices like mobile phones and electric cars we rely on every day.

We know the legacy of the past 14 years can’t be reversed overnight.

But the tough decisions we have made are laying the foundations for lasting change.

Now, we are entering a new phase, focused on long-term renewal and economic strength.

The principle is simple: invest through tough times to grow stronger.

We see this in the business world constantly.

Like the American tech company that, in the 1990s, was 90 days from bankruptcy before doubling down on innovation.

That company was Apple, and today many of you are reading this on one of their products.

Britain has always led the world when we bet on ourselves.

Led the world

James Watt’s steam engine powered the Industrial Revolution.

Work at Bletchley Park laid the foundations for modern computing.

Tim Berners-Lee invented the worldwide web.

Today, we are global leaders in life sciences and among the top three countries for AI development.

These strengths are not just academic — they represent opportunity. Industries that generate billions, improve lives and offer quality jobs for the next generation.

We believe Britain’s best days are still ahead.

That’s why we are investing in our people, in innovation, in the future.

The road won’t always be easy, but we are building a stronger, fairer economy that works for everyone.

Crystal Palace line up £40m-rated AC Milan star Strahinja Pavlovic in Marc Guehi replacement transfer

OLIVER GLASNER will make a new move to sign AC Milan’s Strahinja Pavlovic with the Italian club wanting £40million.

The Crystal Palace boss thinks the powerful Serb would be an ideal addition with Europe on the agenda next term.

Crystal Palace are preparing a move for AC Milan star Strahinja Pavlovic[/caption]

Centre-back Pavlovic, 24, only moved from RB Salzburg for £15m a year ago but Palace have been tracking him for months.

Boss Glasner wants extra competition at the back but the Eagles will not pay over the top and could start the bidding at just £25m.

Glasner is a huge fan of Pavlovic‘s — who was a regular in Milan’s Serie A and Champions League campaigns — so it is an ambitious target.

He scored two goals and provided just as many assists in 35 appearances from centre-back this term.

Meanwhile, Pavlovic started six of Milan‘s ten Champions League games, and 21 Serie A matches.

Palace qualified for next seasons Europa League after beating Manchester City in a shock 1-0 win in the FA Cup final.

But the club’s European status is under threat from Uefa because owner John Textor also owns shares in Lyon.

Juventus’ Tiago Djalo, 25, is an alternative.

Palace are possibly in the market for two defenders, especially if Marc Guehi leaves.

Burnley’s Maxime Esteve, 23, is also admired.

Meanwhile, Palace are in talks with striker Jean-Philippe Mateta over signing a new contract.

The 27-year-old was a standout performer in Glasner’s side last season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions as Palace won the FA Cup – their first major trophy.

Did you guess the singer was Charlotte Jaconelli, formerly of BGT duo, Jonathan and Charlotte?[/caption]

The star in question is Charlotte Jaconelli.

The singer, now 29, was just 16 years old when she auditioned for Simon Cowell as one half of singing duo Jonathan and Charlotte, alongside her friend Jonathan Antoine.

The singing pair won over the judges with their rendition of Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion’s duet The Prayer in their audition, and made it to the finals.

They eventually finished as runners up on the 2012 series, narrowly losing out on the win to Ashleigh Butler and her dog Pudsey.

Charlotte said at the time: “Oh my God, we came second. It’s incredible.”

Today, the performer looks a world away from her BGT days – and is now a megastar on London‘s West End.

In fact, she has revealed her next racy role which sees her transformed into a sex siren.

Announcing her big news, Charlotte shared a VERY sexy snap of herself in costume, as she gets ready to star in Burlesque The Musical.

The star shared some behind-the-scenes snaps, which included her in an eyepopping leotard which she almost spilling out of.

Her sexy look was completed with a pair of black tights.

Announcing her exciting news, Charlotte told her fans: “IT’S BURLESQUE! Meet Queenie – My theatre fairy god mother @todrick keeping me busy and singing notes as high as my heels.

See you at The Savoy this summer to bring the iconic @burlesquethemusicaluk to the main stage.

Hold your hats for the genius of @stevenantin & Miss Hall…it’s gonna be FABULOUS.”

LIFE AFTER BGT

After making a huge impression on BGT viewers, Jonathan and Charlotte, who first met when they were 11 years old at school, went on a UK arena tour.

The singing duo then recorded their first album, Together, in 2012 for Simon Cowell’s label Syco.

Their second album, Perhaps Love, was released a year later in October 2013.

However, the pair went their separate ways in 2014 after they were both offered solo record deals by Sony Deals.

But despite starting their journey together, Jonathan previously admitted that the duo were no longer as close.

Asked by ITV’s Lorraine if they were “still pals” in 2017, he admitted: “We don’t really get to speak very often but that’s the nature of it.

“You don’t really get the time to speak to your friends, my family comes everywhere with me and they’re my longevity.”

BECOMING A WEST END STAR

After going solo, Charlotte headed for the bright lights of the West End, and has since become a successful theatre star.

She made her debut in 2018 as part of the original cast of The Boy in the Dress.

Since then, Charlotte has appeared in Heathers: The Musical, and Sunset Boulevard alongside Nicole Scherzinger.

Final hours for shoppers to scoop last-minute finds before major thrift chain closes two stores in same location

ONLY hours remain for some shoppers to get last-minute finds at a beloved thrift chain.

The retailer is closing the doors of two popular locations this month.

At least 90 employees will be affected by the shutdowns for Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay (GSFB) in California today, June 7, per The CW affiliate KRON-TV.

This is verified in state filings, and includes Oakland and San Francisco locations.

For the Oakland store at 1301 30th Avenue, 72 staff members will be laid off, and at the 750 Post Street spot in San Francisco, 18 others will be forced to find work elsewhere.

All have been offered opportunities to apply for roles at other Goodwill stores.

Either way, local consumers will also need to search for thrifting gems at other retailers or small businesses.

“As Goodwill of the San Fransisco Bay looks ahead, we have made some adjustments to our existing footprint and structure to better position the organization for future growth plans in the coming years,” a spokesperson told the outlet in April.

“GSFB is actively working to secure and open new future locations that will reflect larger, more efficient operational spaces, and an enhanced shopping and donating experience for our community.”

Two headquarter offices and an Oakland-based warehouse also shuttered permanently.

After the June 7 closures, a total of 13 Goodwill locations will have closed in California so far this year.

GOODWILL SPEAKS OUT

Goodwill cited financial struggles and logistical issues as some reasons behind the closures in a statement to The US Sun.

“While never an easy decision, became necessary to close a few store locations due to their size and operational limitations where store revenues were not enough to cover operational and personnel costs,” Rodney Scearce, another Goodwill spokesperson, told the publication.

Longtime fans of Goodwill have been stunned by the removal of the locations.

“Wow, what’s the world coming to?” a shopper asked in a thread online.

“They are closing everything.”

US braces for '45,000 store closures'

Some 45,000 bricks-and-mortar stores could close in the next five years, experts have warned.

Several major retailers have announced store closures or gone out of business altogether in recent years.

In 2023, chains such as Foot Locker announced plans to close up to 400 outlets by 2026.

While, other well-known retailers like Tuesday Morning and Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams filed for bankruptcy in 2023.

Bed Bath & Beyond has closed all of its brick-and-mortar stores and is now an online-only retailer.

The most affected retailers have been clothing, consumer electronics, sporting goods, hobby, book, music, and home furnishing stores since the start of 2019.

UBS has predicted the total number of retail stores will drop by 45k from 958k to 913k.

Despite that, the report says that certain stores should thrive while others decline.

It said retailers such as Walmart, Costco, Home Depot, and Target, could be among the winners.

“I need a place to make donations,” another added.

Scearce also noted that openings of more Goodwill stores around or near the Bay Area are still in the company’s plans despite the shutdowns.

This would only happen if the company could remain sustainable in the process.

NOT ALONE

Goodwill certainly isn’t the only retailer with mass closures planned for this year.

Macy’s is continuing its Bold New Chapter plan with at least 66 closures this spring and more on the way towards its total cuts of 150.

Dollar Tree has also pledged to “maximize value” for customers amid 370 upcoming shutdowns.

Some have also filed for bankruptcy recently.

Big Lots notably went under at the end of last year and axed most of its footprint before re-emerging.

Crafts retailer Joann has also filed its second bankruptcy and shut the doors on all its remaining locations.

Woman, 30, shot dead by armed cops after ‘attacking two people with knife’ in square used for Oktoberfest

A 30-YEAR-OLD woman has been shot dead by armed cops after attacking people with a knife in a square used for Oktoberfest.

The perpetrator reportedly stabbed a 56-year-old man before then attacking a 25-year-old woman in Theresienwiese, Munich.

Cops shot the woman – who is said to be Bulgarian – with a service weapon on the corner of St Pauls Square and Bavariang.

She died in the hospital after undergoing emergency surgery, Bild reports.

The area currently remains cordoned off to the public with armed cops alongside Munich’s Criminal Investigation Department at the scene.

Sniffer dogs are also on the hunt for any clues while bandages were harrowingly seen on the ground at the Oktoberfest site.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown.

Joachim Herrman, Bavaria’s Interior Minister, told Bild: “I am very grateful to the Munich police for their swift intervention and stopping the knife attacker.

“Her death is regrettable, but unfortunately, it was probably unavoidable.”

According to cops, the victims suffered “minor injuries”.

Just a few hours prior, at least five people were injured after a car ploughed into a crowd in Germany.

A five-year-old girl is understood to be among the wounded after the horror crash in Passau.

The driver’s wife, 38, was also hurt, according to Bild.

It is unclear if the driver intentionally drove into the crowd, according to reports.

Three people were seriously injured, according to a police spokesperson.

The incident occurred around 3.30pm near the main train station in the Bavarian city.

“At this time, it cannot be ruled out that the man deliberately drove the vehicle into the group of people,” police told local media.

The driver was reported to be a 48-year-old man.

He has been detained, according to local media reports.

Cops are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the authorities.
