Scots BBC star forced to stop show to undergo treatment for “incredibly rare” cancer
BBC presenter Bryan Burnett is stepping back from broadcasting to undergo treatment for his “incredible rare” cancer.
The Radio Scotland legend, 59, revealed on air this evening that he will be taking a break from his early evening Get It On show.

Burnett told listeners he was diagnosed with appendiceal cancer after having his appendix removed earlier this year.
He confirmed his condition is treatable and he hopes to make a full recovery.
It will involve complex abdominal surgery and chemotherapy.
Presenter Grant Stott will fill in while Burnett recovers.
He told listeners in an emotional announcement during his live show on Thursday evening.
He said: “I’ve experienced the most incredible care and kindness from the NHS staff who have been looking after me.
“My surgeon is a Get it On listener so I know I’m in good hands.
“I will really miss the music and the chat when I’m off but our listeners have given me hundreds of great playlists so that will keep me going over the next few months.
“I want to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all my brilliant producers for all the hand holding and all the encouragement they’ve given me since they found out my news.
“I’m sure they’ll let you know how I’m doing over the next few weeks.”
Get it On is a popular music show which airs on BBC Radio Scotland from 18:00 on weekdays.
The post-drive time show takes requests from listeners that respond to a theme set each show.
Before, Burnett presented Brand New Country, a country music show on BBC Radio Scotland for 15 years.
He has also worked for Radio Clyde and Northsound.
Hayley Valentine, director BBC Scotland added: “Bryan is one of our most popular broadcasters on Radio Scotland and I know listeners will join us in wishing him well as he embarks on his treatment.
“We look forward to welcoming him back to the Get it On studio once he’s recovered.”

Love Island’s ‘Maura Higgins lookalike’ Megan Clarke reveals ‘annoying’ film star she’s often compared to
GORGEOUS Megan Clarke had Love Island fans’ heads in a spin when The Sun unveiled this year’s cast earlier this week.
They were convinced she bore a striking resemblance to show legend Maura Higgins.

But, before she struts into the villa this weekend, Megan revealed she’s more often likened to a far less fabulous beast.
Megan laughed: “I’ve been compared to Donkey from Shrek quite a lot!
“He’s loveable but annoying.”
Thanks to a lightning bolt scar on her forehead, she gets called Harry Potter, too.
It’s a souvenir of a nightclub mishap.
“I fell down the stairs… but I stood back up ready for that picture, blood dripping down my forehead.
“Luckily, I like Harry Potter. It’s an icebreaker.”
Megan will need all the help she can get when the series begins on Monday at 9pm on ITV2, as the lads are already waving red flags.
Taxi driver Ben Holbrough said: “I’m a very bad texter.
“I’ve got a good excuse though, I’m a taxi driver.
“By law, I can’t text you back [while driving]. I’m just abiding by the law…”
Meanwhile footballer Harry Cooksley has been accused of dumping a girl to appear, after telling her he was heading on holiday to Bali.
But he said: “I’ve dated people leading up to the show, but nothing was serious.”
Megan might fare better with Shrek, at this rate.

How Christine McGuinness & Dan Osborne ‘comforted each other’ amid marriage breakdowns, had hotel meet & flirty nickname
REALITY stars Christine McGuinness and Dan Osborne comforted one another amid their marital woes, we can reveal.
The pair sent flirty texts and model Christine said Dan had joined her for raucous nights out that helped lift her spirits after her split from radio and TV host husband Paddy.

At the time, reality star Dan was still building bridges with actress wife Jacqueline Jossa over previous cheating claims.
A pal told The Sun: “Dan and Christine have known each other for years.
“Their friendship goes as far back as 2019, when Jac was heading Down Under to the I’m A Celeb jungle, when they had a brilliant night out at a fund-raising gala in London.
“They stayed in touch sporadically and would bump into each other at events and their messages got pretty flirty.
“Some were seen by mutual friends.
“She would call him ‘D’ in texts and it became an open secret among their circles.
“There is no suggestion anything sexual happened, but it’s fair to say there was a spark between them.”

Our source said the pair met at London’s The Hoxton hotel in March 2023 — a year after Christine called time with Paddy, 51.
And the following month, she cheered him on at a celebrity football match in Cheshire.
They also partied together at a restaurant called Habbibi in Leeds.
Our source went on: “She is absolutely adamant nothing sexual happened between them.
“She also was 100 per cent single at the time and could chat to anyone she wanted.”
EastEnders star Jacqueline. 32, and Christine, 37, are both represented by the InterTalent agency.
Former Towie star Dan, 33, is adamant nothing happened romantically between the pair, even suggesting that the text messages between them were “deep fakes or AI” when asked.
A pal said: “Dan is devoted to Jacqueline and would hate for any suggestion of impropriety.
“Of course, it’s possible for a man and woman to be mates.”
A source close to Christine said: “Dan mainly led the way with texts but there was lots of platonic stuff about their kids.”
Earlier this year, The Sun revealed Dan had moved out of his and Jacqueline’s home and into a property he had bought behind his wife’s back.

Both temporarily removed their wedding rings.
It was the second time they had parted ways over the past few years.
Although it was claimed mum-of-two Jacqueline was furious, she later insisted the property purchase was for investment purposes only.
Christine, married to Paddy for 11 years — and who has won an award for her documentary about her autism struggles — recently pulled out of Channel 4 show, Celebs Go Dating.
In recent weeks, she has revealed she dated both men and women since she was a teenager.
Another friend added: “Christine is in a great place.
“She and Paddy are getting on well, everything is amicable, and she’s super-excited about the future.
“Life is good.
“Her friendship with Dan seems a lifetime ago.
“They don’t really speak now.”
‘Positive vibes’
Christine and Dan have been involved in charity football matches with Sellebrity Soccer together, including in February 2023.
She also managed Dan and other celebs in a game in February last year, in which he captained the team and scored in a 6-4 win on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent.
Proudly celebrating their victory, Christine wrote on online: “It was my positive vibes I was sending.
“My men never let me down, we only do winning.”
Dan has previously been hit by claims of cheating.
But a pal insisted this behaviour was all “very much in the past”.
Just months after fan favourite Jacqueline was crowned Queen of the I’m A Celeb Jungle, Dan admitted to infidelity.
He told The Sun he “takes full responsibility for being crap”.
He said: “I’ve made mistakes.
“I’ve done things I shouldn’t have done.
“Me and Jac have spoken about that and she has forgiven me.
“I know in the past I’ve denied things when they’re not true, then when something has been true, I probably just kept my mouth shut.
“I was a different person.”
I warned my mum that I’m up for romping on TV – I’ll go all the way if it feels right, says Love Island’s Harry
LOVE Island’s Harry Cooksley warned his MUM about watching him romp on TV.
The footballer, 29, admitted he’s up for going all the way in the villa – if he finds the right girl.

He is mindful his mother will be avidly watching the show, but says he gave her the heads up.
Speaking ahead of Monday’s launch show, Harry said: “Listen, it’s not out of the question [that I’ll have sex on TV].
“If it feels right then I will – and I have briefed my mum as well.
“So yeah, if it feels right and it’s the right time I’m definitely open to it.”
Happy-go-lucky Harry was accused of dumping his girlfriend to be on the show.
A stunning woman, who The Sun chose not to name, claimed that Harry was a “liar” who had told her he was flying out to Bali, not to the villa in Mallorca.
Harry insisted they weren’t in a relationship, saying: “I’ve been dating for the last year, I’ve dated people leading up to the show, but nothing serious.
“I mean it wasn’t like a ‘dumping’, we dated. I told her I was going away for the summer and we left it there.”

‘Dumping’ makes it sound “terrible”, he said, adding: “I definitely haven’t dumped anyone.
“I think that is the reputation of footballers, but that’s not who I am.
“I’ve got a mullet and I’m 30. I’m ready for something.”
He’s now focused on finding a connection in the villa, but won’t stand for being in any love triangles.
He said: “If someone can take my girl from me then she was never my girl.”
Harry refuses to play games in the villa, insisting he wants to find something serious – and could even end up leaving with a girlfriend.
He said: “I like to think I play it cool with women and I’m kind of relaxed, but it’s so heightened in there, where you spend so much time together and when I fall for someone I fall hard and I fall fast.”

Love Island hunk Ben Holbrough says he’s not afraid to have sex in the villa – and way to hide bedroom sessions
LOVE Island star Ben Holbrough has admitted he’s not afraid of having a cheeky romp in the villa.
The hunky Islander, 23, is one of the new singletons looking for love on the ITV2 dating show.

And now he’s open to getting down and dirty in the villa – and has even worked out a way to hide his bedroom antics.
Ben told The Sun and other press said: “I can never say never, you know, you gotta take every day as it comes.
“Who knows if there’s a girl and I sharing a bed with and she’s sexy, who knows what it’s gonna cuddling every night, it could get carried away.”
The 6ft 2ins model from Gloucester teased: “The hideaway is there for the taking as well, so we’ll wait and see.
“I’ve already told my family that I will try and keep it as PG as possible, because I have my niece watching so I do need to make an effort to keep it PG.
“But then again, there’s nothing wrong with just putting a quick cover over, so I could just do that and people will think we’re just having a quick cuddle, and that that is all it was.”
Ben, who is a private hire taxi driver, is a big fan of showing off his six pack in mirror selfies on social media.
In a video on his Star Now modelling page, he said: “My main line of work is modelling, which I’ve been doing for about five or six years now.
“But when I’m not doing that, my hobbies are either going to the gym or playing football.”
Ben already has a connection to the reality TV world, as he is followed on Instagram by Married At First Sight star Lacey Martin.
Love Island host Maya Jama will kick off the brand new series on Monday, June 9.
Ben will be joining a gorgeous line-up.
But their beauty is more than skin deep, as ITV2 has amassed a group with real kudos.
Former fire-breather Sophie Lee has campaigned for real beauty since she was scarred for life when her act went disastrously wrong, whilst Alima Gagigo has a BA degree in international business.

Awkward moment Love Islander Megan praises famous pal’s amazing relationship… without realising they’ve secretly SPLIT
LOVE Island newbie Megan Forte Clarke gushed over good pal Harriett Blackmore’s relationship with Ronnie Vint – unaware that they’ve SPLIT.
Megan, 24, is close friends with Harriett, who rose to fame on last year’s series, and later starred on All Stars at the start of 2025.

Harriett reunited with ex Ronnie on the spin-off series and rekindled their romance, giving their relationship a second chance.
But The Sun revealed today that Ronnie and Harriett have called time on their relationship, just four months after getting back together.
Speaking to The Sun and other press, Megan was asked if she was looking for her own Ronnie.
But clearly oblivious that Ronnie and Harriett had split just hours before, Megan went on to praise the footballer for worshipping her pal.
Megan replied: “Yes, he [Ronnie] is obsessed with her [Harriett] and rightly so.
“I would love something like that.”
The news of her friend’s break-up would not have reached Megan, who is currently in hiding ahead of the new series.
The brunette beauty has over 3,000 followers on social media and she’s sure to turn heads when she enters the villa.
Irish Megan, who hails from Dublin, is no stranger to a stunning selfie, and also likes to travel, according to her social media.
She works as an actress, and at the end of December she posted a snap from a press night at Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury, after starring in Cinderella.
The star is set to join a string of other sexy singletons for the 2025 summer series.
These include Rose Selway, who runs 12 aesthetics clinics, boasting a famous clientele including former Love Islanders Lucinda Strafford and Jessy Potts.
The 24-year-old beauty salon owner from Devon has passed the audition to join the cast of Love Island 2025.
Other faces set to appear on screen when the new episode airs include cheeky chappy Tommy Bradley, hunky 6’5” Aaron Buckett, who was the first name linked to this series, stunning Manchester model Shakira Khan and Sophie Lee, both revealed by The Sun.
ITV has revealed that Love Island 2025 will kick off on Monday, June 9.
