Budget airline cancels all flights to Canada in just 48 hours and issues refunds to passengers with tickets
CANADA-BOUND passengers have been issued a blow as a budget airline scraps routes with just 48 hours notice.
The company cancelled all flights to the country beginning Wednesday, Ocotber 8.

Customers of the airline have been issued immediate refunds after the shock announcement.
Italian carrier Neos announced it is suspended its Amritsar–Milan–Toronto route indefinitely.
Shock suspension
The airline “international geopolitical instability” as the reason for the unexpected suspension.
According to a statement from Neos, this instability has caused bookings to plummet.
As a result, low load factors have made the route economically unsustainable.
Neos will now be absent from Canada entirely pending further notice.
Customers who booked directly through www.neosair.com are set to receive an email with detailed refund instructions.
Meanwhile, passengers who booked through a travel agency are advised to contact their travel agent directly for further details.
A 24/7 Live Chat service is available on the Neos website for further details and assistance.
Transatlantic history
Neos entered the transatlantic market less than four years ago with a direct service between Milan Malpensa Airport and New York JFK International Airport.
This route launched in November 2021, served by the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet.
Meanwhile, the Amritsar-Milan-Toronto service launched in April 2023, connecting Canada’s sizable Punjabi diaspora with their homeland, with Milan as a refueling stop.
Flights were operated aboard Neos’ Boeing 787-9, configured with twenty-eight premium economy and three hundred thirty one economy seats.
The route saw around sixteen hours of cumulative flight time plus a lengthy connection in Milan.
It had been scaled back to seasonal service earlier this year due to sustained low load factors before the complete suspension was announced.
What to do after a flight is delayed
TRAVELERS may not know that they could miss their flights even if they show up in time for a delayed departure date.
Flyers are urged to think twice before following the updated travel details sent directly by carriers to their phones.
That’s because airlines can suddenly resolve issues and return a once delayed flight back to its original departure time.
Carriers are always working overtime to ensure that airport schedules are kept on track, so flight times shift throughout the day.
If a flight is delayed, most passengers will get an email or text notifying them of the change and providing a new departure time.
However, unlucky flyers have followed these updated rules, only to arrive at a gate to find their plane gone as the flight left earlier than expected.
Plus, many airlines note in their condition of carriage that they aren’t liable for the flights missed through delay mixups.
Spirit Airlines says, “In the event of a delay, guests are recommended to remain in the gate area for updates and possible early departures.
“Spirit shall not be liable to any guest who missed a flight, which departed earlier than the estimated departure time posted for the delay.”
Both escalating global turmoil and a steep decline in bookings have been cited as the main reasons.
Aviation analytics company Cirium confirmed the suspension of transatlantic routes.
The weekly flight has now been removed until the end of the summer 2026 season.
However, the airline won’t be exiting Amritsar entirely, with its two connections from Rome Fiumicino and Verona to remain.
And residents in the Amritsar area won’t be left without other viable options to travel to Canada.
Qatar Airways offers a one-stop itinerary from Amritsar to Toronto via its Doha hub.
And due to the shorter layover in Doha compared to Neos’ service, passengers will have a shorter total journey time.
More on air travel
And another budget airline has gone into administration, axing all flights.
The supersonic plane of the future dubbed “Son of Concorde” is readying for take-off.
Plus, the bizarre crash-proof plane idea that wraps aircrafts in giant airbags.
And an airline has launched the “world’s first trackable suitcase” so you will never lose your bag again.
The world’s biggest airport with 185 million passengers is set to open by 2030.

I’m a boiler expert – my four essential steps will protect your home this autumn
AUTUMN is here and it is the ideal time to prepare your home for the colder months ahead.
The days are already growing shorter and temperatures begin to fall, with the temptation there to put the heating on.

And acting now can help prevent issues such as frozen pipes, boiler breakdowns and costly damage later in the season.
Boiler expert Gordon Wallis from Your NRG has shared his four essential steps to protect your home this autumn.
1. Maintain adequate heating
Gordon explained that many people make the mistake of turning their heating off completely in a bid to save money, but this can leave pipes vulnerable when the first cold snap arrives.
He advised keeping the thermostat set to a minimum of around 10C to provide enough warmth to prevent freezing.
Those with smart thermostats can benefit from remote monitoring and adjustment through their phones if temperatures drop suddenly.
2. Insulate exposed pipes
Areas such as garages, basements and lofts are particularly vulnerable because they are often unheated.
Wrapping insulation around the pipes provides an extra layer of protection and is both affordable and easy to install, reducing the risk of damage before the worst of the weather sets in.
3. Turn off the mains water supply if you are away
If you are planning to be away during the autumn period, Gordon recommended shutting off the mains water supply.
Turning off the stop tap means no water can flow through the system if a pipe freezes and cracks.
He suggested opening the lowest tap in the property after turning the supply off to release any pressure still in the pipework, a simple precaution that can prevent a small problem from becoming a major repair.
4. Check boiler pressure and settings
Before the colder months arrive, Gordon advised checking your boiler’s pressure gauge, which should typically sit between 1 and 1.5 bar.
Low pressure can cause the boiler to stop working when you need it most.
He also encouraged homeowners to use frost protection mode if their boiler has it, as this automatically switches the heating on if the internal temperature drops too low.
“Autumn is the time to get ahead of the cold,” Gordon said.
“Taking these simple steps now ensures that your home is protected, your boiler is working efficiently and you will not be caught off guard when temperatures start to fall further.”
With the right preparation, households can enjoy the season knowing that their home is safeguarded against common problems, and costly surprises can be avoided once winter finally arrives.
Homeowners are pouring boiling water over their driveways – and experts say they’re right to do so
WEEDS growing in driveways are one problem homeowners wish to avoid.
And, not everyone has time to be rummaging in sheds for pest control sprays bought at the garden center or creating a vinegar-based solution.

Homeowners can instead turn to their kettle for a helping hand in getting rid of unwanted plants.
Boiling water is an alternative to spraying weeds in cracks, as per Better Homes and Gardens.
But, homeowners must have a steady hand if they are turning to this tactic, as revealed by Chelsea McKinley.
She explained that Americans must be precise when it comes to the weed they’re targeting.
“I wouldn’t use boiling water in a big bed of plants,” she said.
The expert revealed that hot water works best on smaller plants and seedlings.
The boiling water kills part of the plant it comes into contact with.
This will eventually wilt, but there is a chance that it could resprout.
Homeowners may have to continue applying boiling water several times in order to root out the weed.
Horticulture experts have warned of the risks that come with the method.
It may be cheap, but there is a risk of burns.
To minimize the risk, using a tea kettle is better than a pan or jug.
And, homeowners have gushed over the method.
“I needed this so bad, you have no idea,” one Redditor said.
“An older woman told me this about 10 years ago and it make my life so much easier,” another chimed.
Boiling water is just one way to get rid of weeds.
Influencers have boasted how a solution made up of cheap washing-up liquid, salt, and white vinegar is a cost-effective alternative.
Gardeners have turned to bleach and salt as weed killing tools.
Those who like to get their hands dirty can, of course, get on their knees and use strength to pull out weeds themselves.
Gardeners have also warned about using drinks like cola or orange juice on plants.
Cola is packed full of sugar and this can kill weeds.
But, Chris Bonnett, of Gardening Express, warned that this method doesn’t come without risks.
“A lot of these techniques are best off being used in moderation, for example adding too much orange juice and milk could potentially do more harm to your plants than good and could result in killing them if overused,” he told the Daily Express in 2022.
