Princess Charlotte twins with mum Kate in teal dresses at Trooping the Colour

THE Royals were out in force today at the annual Trooping the Colour.

And the Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte made sure no one missed them, both dressing in a bold teal blue.

The mother and daughter sat next to one another in the carriage, with Kate in a smart teal coat dress with striking white accents across the lapel and colour, and a matching hat.

It is believed her dress is from Catherine Walker – one of the Princesses favourite designers.

Named the ‘Bria’ dress, the designer’s website describes it as: “A deep aquamarine wool coatdress with ivory contrast lapels and cuffs.” It is also available in red and black.

The dress has a distinct 80s feel which makes for easy comparison to looks chosen by her late mother-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales.

The dress design is strong-shouldered, with sleek tailoring, which Her Royal Highness has softened with an asymmetric hat complete with florals and an elaborate updo.

Kate’s wide-brimmed hat is by Juliette Botterill – another designer she has worn many hats from.

In her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards, Kate accessorised her dress with the regimental brooch as well as the Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings in a sweet tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Whilst Charlotte, 10, wore a muted teal dress and had her hair in her signature half up, half down plaits.

This is the first time Kate has worn this bold teal blue colour.

It can be said she is taking a note out of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s book, who was known for wearing the brightest of colours when in public.

According to the Queen’s biographer, Robert Hardman, she was quoted as saying: “I can never wear beige because nobody will know who I am.”

By wearing colour, she can stand out for the crowd and people can say, “I saw the Queen”.

Queen Camilla, on the other hand, wore a white dress with a large hat and pearl jewellery.

The dress is believed to be the same one she wore earlier this month during their official state visit to France for D-Day.

Other members of the Royal Family were asked to wear black armbands to the parade.

As a request from King Charles II, the armbands are in remembrance of those killed in the Air India plane crash on Thursday.

Why are royals wearing black armbands at Trooping the Colour? King Charles’ decision explained

KING Charles has requested that members of the Royal Family wear black armbands at the Trooping the Colour parade.

The monarch asked royals to wear the armbands in remembrance of those killed in the Air India plane crash on Thursday.

Both King Charles and Prince William were spotted wearing a black armband as they made their way down The Mall.

At least 241 people are understood to have died in the shocking tragedy in Ahmedabad, India.

Those at the parade also held a minute’s silence following the devastating crash.

Those wearing the bands will be the Prince of Wales, Colonel of the Welsh Guards, the Princess Royal, Colonel Blues and Royals, and the Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel Scots Guards.

A palace spokesperson said this is “a mark of respect for the lives lost, the families in mourning and all the communities affected by this awful tragedy”.

King Charles could be seen sporting his armband while he waved to crowds leaving Buckingham Palace.

Princess Kate was spotted beaming as she arrived with William and the kids ahead of the parade.

Hundreds of royal fans braved the early morning rain to queue for a good spot – covered in Union Jack flags and crowns.

They came prepared with umbrellas and rain coats after the Met Office issued storm warnings, as the UK is lashed by floods, thunder and lightning.

Over 1,400 officers and soldiers, 400 musicians, 200 horses and 10 bands are taking part in the event.

This year marks Charles’ third Trooping the Colour parade as monarch.

Coldstream Guards are on display for the world to see, dressed in full military regalia, alongside a huge number of supporting staff.

It is the first time the Coldstream Guards have trooped their colour in front of the King, as the honour rotates between five regiments of the Foot Guards.

The parade today takes place almost five months before the King’s actual birthday.

Charles was born on November 14, though the reigning British monarch has two birthdays.

The sovereign’s birthday, which is celebrated through the Trooping the Colour, usually falls in the summer months.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer posted on X this morning: “Sending my best wishes to His Majesty The King today at Trooping the Colour.

“God Save The King.”
