CBS Sports has made a big change to The NFL Today for the 2025 season.

The popular pregame show will move to a new format this fall.

The NFL Today airs before Sunday action begins at 1 pm ET.

It often faces fierce competition from other pregame shows across the various networks.

Fox NFL Sunday airs at the same time, while ESPN shows Sunday NFL Countdown and NFL Network broadcasts GameDay Morning.

And CBS bosses have announced a change in format in an attempt to keep eyeballs on their show.

The NFL Today will hit the road for select shows in 2025.

It usually originates from CBS’ studios in New York City.

An announcement read, “This season, The NFL Today will hit the road on select Sundays with live, on-site shows for some of CBS Sports’ most-anticipated games of the 2025 NFL slate.

“The guys will kick things off in Week 1 from Lambeau Field as the Packers host the Lions on September 7.

“Additional games and locations for The NFL Today on the road to be announced during the season.”

The show went on the road during the 2024 season ahead of a massive AFC showdown.

CBS’ crew broadcast from Orchard Park in Buffalo, New York before the Buffalo Bills faced the Kansas City Chiefs.

“You gotta do this more often,” lead commentator Jim Nantz said on that show.

“I’ve been watching this show from the top.

“We’ve been doing this show for a long time

“This is new ground, this is the best.”

CBS’ move is likely to add more travel to Nate Burleson’s busy schedule.

He presents CBS Mornings on weekdays from their New York studios.

And The NFL Today going on the road means he’ll face added travel if he balances both jobs.

Fox NFL Sunday airs from a studio on Los Angeles, California.

Michael Strahan has faced similar busy travel schedules between Fox NFL Sunday and Good Morning America, which is filmed in New York.
