He added, “because it was politics that allowed a savage monster with 14 priors to be free on the streets to kill her.”
Kirk included a video from his show, The Charlie Kirk Show.
“This was one of the coldest, most senseless murders I have ever seen,” he said in the clip.
“No interaction with this guy, she was sitting minding her own business, and he just takes out a knife and just decides to stab her.”
He acknowledged he didn’t like politicizing tragedies but said the circumstances required it.
“The attacker did say ‘I got that white girl’. The attacker racialized it in his own telling of the situation,” Kirk added.
He compared the case to George Floyd’s murder, noting it hadn’t drawn the same media attention or public outrage.
The attack occurred on August 22 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Iryna Zarutska, 20, had fled Ukraine in 2022 with her family to escape the war with Russia.
Her obituary said she “quickly embraced her new life in the United States.”
That night she texted her boyfriend that she would be home soon.
Moments later, a man sitting behind her on a light rail train stabbed her three times in the throat in an unprovoked attack.
The suspect, 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr., has a long criminal record.
He now faces state first-degree murder charges and a federal charge of committing an act causing death on a mass transportation system.
