THE man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been linked to the murderous Menendez brothers in a recent court update.
Tyler Robinson, 22, is preparing to fight for his life after prosecutors vowed to pursue the death penalty if he’s found guilty of shooting Kirk on September 10.

The suspect has now been linked to the trial of parent killers Lyle, left, and Erik Menendez, seen in 1990[/caption]
On Friday, the suspect was assigned his defense attorneys, and one of them defended Lyle Menendez during his first criminal trial.
Michael Burt has been requested by defense attorney Kathryn “Kathy” Nester to join her team representing Robinson.
Burt previously represented Lyle in his first trial as he stood accused of gunning down his parents in their home in 1989.
That jury was split six-to-six, but Erik and Lyle went on to be convicted of the killings.
Burt has also represented Olympic Park Bomber Eric Rudolph who killed one person and injured 100 more in 1996.
Meanwhile, Nester, who works at a private firm based in Salt Lake City, is also working on another high-profile case.
She’s representing Kouri Richins – a Utah mom who’s accused of poisoning her husband with fentanyl, then writing a children’s book about recovering from grief.
The Utah County Commission has approved putting $1 million toward this trial, People reported.
The county will have to hire two deputy county attorneys, two paralegals for the prosecutor’s office, and pay for Nester and her team.
Robinson was declared indigent, which means that he doesn’t have the money to pay for his own attorneys.
EERIE COURT APPEARANCE
Robinson appeared remotely in court on Monday, but didn’t show his face on the Zoom call taken from a county jail.
When he was called on by the judge, he merely said, “Yes, your honor.”
In the appointment, Nester, who had just been selected on Friday, told the court that she would need more time to review the evidence before they could proceed.
There’s expected to be a substantial amount of evidence that prosecutors are prepared to present as proof that Robinson killed Kirk.
The judge agreed with Nester’s request and said that they would reconvene on October 30.
Full text exchange between Tyler Robinson and his roommate
TYLER Robinson has been accused of admitting to killing Charlie Kirk in text messages obtained by detectives.
Here is a transcript of the messages, released by the Utah County District Attorney.
Robinson: Drop what you’re doing. Look under my keyboard.
The note read, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I’m going to take it.”
Roommate: What?????????????? You’re joking. right????
Robinson: I am still ok my love, but am stuck in orem for a little while longer yet. Shouldn’t be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still. To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you.
Roommate: you weren’t the one who did it right????
Robinson: I am, I’m sorry
Roommate: I thought they caught the person?
Robinson: no, they grabbed some crazy old dude, then interrogated someone in similar clothing. I had planned to grab my rifle from my drop point shortly after, but most of that side of town got locked down. Its quiet, almost enough to get out, but theres one vehicle lingering.
Roommate: Why?
Robinson: Why did I do it?
Roommate: Yeah
Robinson: I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on. I haven’t seen anything about them finding it.
Roommate: How long have you been planning this?
Robinson: a bit over a week I believe. I can get close to it but there is a squad car parked right by it. I think they already swept that spot, but I don’t wanna chance it
Robinson: I’m wishing I had circled back and grabbed it as soon as I got to my vehicle…. I’m worried what my old man would do if I didn’t bring back grandpas rifle… idek if it had a serial number, but it wouldn’t trace to me. I worry about prints I had to leave it in a bush where I changed outfits. didn’t have the ability or time to bring it with…. I might have to abandon it and hope they don’t find prints. how the f**k will I explain losing it to my old man….
only thing I left was the rifle wrapped in a towel….
remember how I was engraving bullets? The f*****g messages are mostly a big meme, if I see “notices bulge uwu” on fox new I might have a stroke alright im gonna have to leave it, that really f*****g sucks.
judging from today I’d say grandpas gun does just fine idk. I think that was a $2k scope ;-;
Robinson: delete this exchange
Robinson: my dad wants photos of the rifle … he says grandpa wants to know who has what, the feds released a photo of the rifle, and it is very unique. Hes calling me rn, not answering.
Robinson: since Trump got into office [my dad] has been pretty diehard maga.
Robinson: Im gonna turn myself in willingly, one of my neighbors here is a deputy for the sheriff.
Robinson: you are all I worry about love
Roommate: I’m much more worried about you
Robinson: don’t talk to the media please. don’t take any interviews or make any comments … if any police ask you questions ask for a lawyer and stay silent
Robinson is accused of positioning himself on the roof of a building on Utah Valley University’s campus and firing a single, fatal bullet at Kirk as the activist chatted with students.
The popular organizer attracted ardent supporters and fuming critics for sharing his conservative opinions on gender, marriage, and religion.
Prosecutors say that Robinson sent incriminating text messages to his partner explaining that he killed Kirk because he was tired of the activist’s “hate.”
Although the FBI assisted in investigating Kirk’s murder, Robinson is being prosecuted by the state of Utah.
This means the public has access to court proceedings, and that the alleged shooter’s fate could be televised in real time.
