She was annihilated in the first set, and could never get going in the second.
It was one of the most one-sided finals in the history of the iconic Grand Slam.
Evert was on the broadcast for ESPN, where she watched on in horror at her performance.
And during the first set, the American icon told viewers at home Anisimova was “paralyzed” and “frozen”.
“She’s frozen. Paralyzed out there,” said Evert.
“I think she’s really low in the tank.
“She’s had some emotional matches.
“She’s depleted. You’ve got to try and find some energy in you.
“Sometimes it feels so heavy, but it’s there.
“She’s just got to try and find it.”
Swiatek was in a class of her own as the nerves got the better of Anisimova.
And Evert was quick to point out this isn’t even her best surface to play on.
“She’s just in her own little world out there,” said Evert during the broadcast.
“She’s just so intent and focused.

“That’s why she’s one of the best competitors out there.
“She’s always struggled at Wimbledon, and been frustration.
“She’s a slider, she loves sliding on the clay and hard courts.
“You can’t slide on grass.”
Anisimova broke down in tears at the end of the match.
She briefly went off court following the loss to compose herself before returning.
Evert’s broadcast partner Chris Fowler described the American’s performance as a “nightmare”.
“Elation and consolation for an opponent who had a nightmare,” he said.
Anisimova will be hoping to make a triumphant comeback at the US Open later this year.
