CHRISTIAN McCaffrey was added to the injury list on Thursday night ahead of the San Francisco 49ers’ 2025 season opener.
The 49ers face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, with the running back seemingly a doubt for the match.

According to the 49ers, McCaffrey is dealing with a calf issue.
He had seemingly made it through training camp and the preseason injury-free.
The 29-year-old wasn’t even listed on Wednesday’s report.
However, he only managed limited participation in Thursday’s practice, warming up and running individual drills.
McCaffrey’s injury is particularly alarming because he spent much of last season on the sideline.
Heading into 2024, the RB sat out most of their training camp.
San Francisco said his issue was his calf, but it was later confirmed as bilateral Achilles tendinitis.
McCaffrey did not play in the 49ers’ opening game against the New York Jets, having been listed as questionable in the lead-up.
He also ended up being unavailable for the next few rounds of matches, not making an appearance until November 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The San Fran star featured in the next four weeks.
But in Week 13, he suffered a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against the Buffalo Bills.
This left him injured for the remainder of the season.
McCaffrey made just 50 carries in 2024, his lowest total ever in the NFL, which resulted in his lowest rushing yards total, too.
This was also the first season he went without scoring a touchdown.
This challenging season followed arguably his best year yet in the NFL and undoubtedly his best for the 49ers.
