THE Cleveland Browns have a crowded quarterback room, and Shedeur Sanders is entering crunch time to secure a spot on the roster.
With four quarterbacks vying for the starting spot in Cleveland, training camp will reveal plenty of information about who is favored by the Browns.

Currently, Kenny Pickett is expected to be the Browns’ No. 1 option[/caption]
As of right now, Sanders is locked into a battle just to stay on the Browns’ roster.
In this year’s NFL Draft, the team selected Dillon Gabriel out of Oregon in the third round before taking Shedeur Sanders out of Colorado in the fifth.
On top of that, the Browns signed Joe Flacco — who previously played for them in 2023 — and traded for Kenny Pickett from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Based on how things currently stand, it seems likely that Pickett and Flacco are the two names that are safe on the Cleveland roster.
The Browns already know what their getting out of Flacco after he started six games for them in 2023.
In the five regular season games he passed for 1,616 yards with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Flacco also started one playoff game for the Browns that season.
Meanwhile, the Browns took a shot on Pickett after he produced a solid showing as Jalen Hurts‘ backup in Philadelphia.
Pickett entered in relief of an injured Hurts in Week 16 last season, passing for 143 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
He then started in Week 17 passing for 143 yards with two touchdowns before getting injured.
Both of those quarterbacks have gotten first-team reps, with Pickett being the expected starter as of right now.
The real competition is between Sanders and Gabriel for the No. 3 spot.
Whichever one of them doesn’t win the roster spot will likely either be sent to the practice squad or end up getting cut.
The biggest question is which one of them ends up on the chopping block?
The fact that Gabriel was picked two rounds ahead of Sanders definitely gives him a leg up in the competition.
However, positive reports came out about Sanders in OTAs, and he will have a further chance to prove himself during training camp.

On top of that, Sanders’ name is a hug source of revenue for the Browns.
Despite being a fifth-round pick, Sanders’ jersey was the top selling among 2025 draft picks. Gabriel didn’t make it into the top 10.
Sanders has also engrossed himself into the local community, hosting the Garden Valley Fun Fest this week to lift the spirits of a Cleveland neighborhood devastated by an apartment fire.
If I had to make a prediction, I would currently list the Browns’ depth chart as Pickett, Flacco, Sanders, Gabriel.
Obviously no one knows exactly what head coach Kevin Stefanski is thinking, but I think Gabriel has the most to prove going into training camp.
The Browns start training camp on Friday, and questions will start getting answers in the weeks following.
