COSTCO has rolled out a brand new pharmacy service at select stores with shoppers hailing it for being flexible and cutting wait times.
Shoppers from across the country are now begging for the beloved cooperation to have them outside every store.
The new Rx Lockers are the latest addition to Costco stores and are aimed at helping people pick up their prescriptions at convenient times for them.
The unmanned lockers are now available at select Costco pharmacy locations and can be accessed with a code.
To see if you’re eligible simply wait until you get an “order ready” text like usual for a prescription.
Check if it gives you a locker option to pick up your goods and if so, you’re eligible.
It currently only applies to certain prescriptions.
Once you have asked to pick it up, head down to the nearest Rx Lockers location and enter a code you have been sent on the touch screen display on the lockers.
One of the doors surrounding the screen will open up with the package available to be picked up inside.
The idea has been around for years now with locker systems in place at dozens of stores such as Sam’s Club and Amazon.
But Costco, one of America’s largest wholesalers, has now joined the action with shoppers over the moon by the addition.
One said: “Ah man, great idea. Having to wait in the pharmacy line to pick-up scripts is always a hassle.”
As another wrote: “That would be great, assuming it means people could pick up prescriptions when the pharmacy is closed, like on Sundays.”
One of the main benefits of the lockers is that they are open all day, everyday.
Pharmacies are often closed on Sundays and shut up shop before the evening midweek.
The lockers will allow for customers to decide on their own time when they can complete a pick up.
Shoppers will have five days to pick up their prescriptions from the locker after receiving the code.
And non Costco members are also eligible to use the lockers at no extra cost.
Hailing this change, one shopper said: “I’m lucky enough to have a more flexible schedule so now I can avoid the after work/weekends/busier times.
“For refills and pickups after hours and Sundays this would be great!”
Another bragged: “That is the greatest invention ever. In and out in 60 seconds.”
A fourth added: “Hopefully it ends up being a success. Lots of people wait a long time to just pick up their orders.”
One of the main criticism of the idea was around the lack of a human being on hand to help.
A Costco loyalist took to Facebook to say: “I love the people at my pharmacy!
“They are the kindest, most helpful people. Even if I have to wait, I’d rather interface with a human being.”
But the new addition to pharmacies will give shoppers a choice whether they want to still speak to a person in-store or use the lockers.
