CRIS Collinsworth uncomfortably defended a major decision made by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones live on NBC.
The NBC color commentator gave his stance during the Philadelphia Eagles‘ 24-20 win over the Cowboys in the NFL‘s season opener.

Last week, the Cowboys stunned the world by trading All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.
Jones’ Dallas squad received defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks in the deal.
The Cowboys clearly missed Parsons’ pass-rushing abilities in the Week 1 game as Jalen Hurts was sacked just once and recorded two rushing touchdowns.
But Collinsworth made sure to tell TV viewers that Jones made the correct call in trading Parsons, who has posted 12 sacks in each of his four seasons in the league.
“If Jerry had signed Micah Parsons, he would’ve had 50 percent of his cap covered with three players,” Collinsworth said.
“And that’s a dangerous place to be, to be honest with you.
“And as the number started to go up, they started thinking about what that might mean.”
Collinsworth referred to Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and what could’ve been Parsons taking up half the salary cap.
He argued that Jones made the right decision, financially speaking, to part with one of the NFL’s best defensive players instead of simply paying him.
Parsons signed a four-year, $188 million contract with the Packers, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league.
“And I think Jerry just likes the action, to be honest with you,” Collinsworth continued.
“Now, he has money to spend on new contracts.
“We’ve already seen him doing a little bit of that.
“And more than anything else, he has four players now in the first round of the next two drafts, and they’re supposed to be very good drafts that he gets to play with.

Fans weren’t in agreement over Collinsworth’s opinion on Jones’ trading away Parsons.
“I like Collinsworth but that’s a moronic take …. Was an all time stupid trade. They had no pass rush,” one wrote.
“This is embarrassing for Collinsworth,” another commented.
